Chapter 200 The sceptre of life.

Chapter 200 The sceptre of life.
Adriana.
I fought to not look back at the men, especially Senna’s guard. I wanted to mark his face but it was also important to not give reasons for suspicion. Cody followed me, leaving Senna behind.
The library was beginning to look different in my eyes. I was here everyday and spent lots of time in it. I knew where what was and I was subtly rearranging it, building a section for myself.
I heard a squeak as a head popped up from a behind a shelf. My body stiffened in alert.
“It’s just me.” Daisy popped up. “Came to get this.” She waved a brown covered book in the air casually but her eyes looked dark and tired. I needed to give this girl more attention.
“What’s that?” I asked, trying to show interest.
Daisy raised a brow and smiled softly, “I know you’re busy. I’ll tell you about it when I’m done reading it.” She shrugged.
Cody waved at her, “Hey, baby girl.”
“Good afternoon, C.” Daisy waved, hugging the book to her chest, “Looking Dashing as always.” She teased.
I shook my head and turned away, Daisy and Cody always had a drama, then I paused, “Weren’t you both together in the library before I came in?” They were acting like they hadn’t seen each other today.
“Nah,” Cody shook his head, “I haven’t seen Daisy in a while.”
“Yeah, yeah. I’m a busy school kid. Byeee.” Daisy waved and exited the library without an explanation. Something seemed off but I ignored it, I'll attend to it later. I lifted my eyes to Cody. “Tell me, what do you want to show me?”
“I found a scroll.” Cody started, but there was no scroll in sight. “But before I show you, I want us to talk about Senna.”
My shoulders which has relaxed at the sight of Daisy stiffened again, “Yes, I was wondering, tell me how you know him.” I hated that he had ignored my question earlier.
“No, No, this isn’t about that. I don’t want you associating with him, I don’t want you bringing him into this place. You have no idea what he is like.” He warned.
I nodded, calm, “Indeed I don’t, tell me then,”
Cody shook his head, “Please, just listen to me.”
Now, I should be angry about Cody giving me orders, but the thought that Senna’s servant might be the person I fought with the other night still had me on choke hold, there was a possibility Senna was also involved in the movement, but that Cody was also giving me a warning meant he might know something too.
“Is there something you’re hiding from me?” I questioned him, no response came. “I’m asking as a friend, Cody,”
“I’m not hiding anything from my friend.” Cody responded quietly.
I got the message, he was hiding from his queen and not his friend.
It would seem that I still needed to work with Jared as Eve. No one was willing to tell Adriana anything. I made a mental note to go back to Alan.
“The scroll. Where is it?” I asked.
Surprisingly, It was on the table there, but online the usual rolled scrolls, it was folded.
The scroll held a sketch, it was definitely done by hand, it was a staff, I couldn’t tell the height, but it had four Gems on the head, there was one big one and three smaller one. The one in the middle looked familiar, but I had held a lot of precious stones to know they replicated shapes in the market. “I’d like to hold on to this.” I told Cody.
“It’s called the scepter of life.” Cody told me.
I was surprised, I hadn’t expected him to know what it was considering he had just found it.
“It was never put together, but a very long time ago, pirates dedicated their souls to finding it. It was once said that someone came close to putting it together but never found the Gem of life which is the main source of power,” Cody explained.
“Is the gem of life in any way linked with the Primal of Life?” I asked, this life stuffs was complicated.
“The Gem of life is the essence of the primal of life. Such power cannot totally leave this world, it can only transform from one form to another.” He explained.
“So, the Primal lives in the gem or its just his powers that’s in it?”
“Well, no one can really tell. It’s not like we have a Gem that we could attempt speaking to?” Cody chuckled. “Well, that’s all I found today, but it all still seem like a myth.
I nodded, “I know right?” My fingers squeezed the gem in my pouch. Myth indeed.
