Chapter 31
Kia The gunshot rang in the air louder.
Immediately, Vivian pushed me to the ground and leaned over me, protecting me with his body. He pulled out his gun and fired in the direction where the shots were coming from.
I felt panic in my chest when my mind went to Harley. “Harley is alone in the house.”
All his focus was on that point where the gunshots were coming from. “Nobody knows about my daughter. Whoever is here is looking for me.”
Who the hell was he?!
He quickly stood up and pulled me to my feet. “I’m going to take you both out of here.”
I looked at him, shocked. “And what about you? Won’t you come with us?”
Wasn’t this the chance I had been waiting for? I should be happy whoever came here. He killed him. Then why the hell was I reacting in this way?
“I won’t leave you alone!” I said stubbornly. “Give me your knife. I know how to use it.”
A slight smile played on his lips. He pulled out his sharp knife and handed me over. “You will stay behind me.”
I nodded at him.
Again, shots rang out from somewhere.
“I think they are over two,” I said while trailing after him.
“It’s a gang as far as I can guess.” There was not an ounce of fear in his voice. “It is not two or three. It is over ten people, I think.”
“We must take Harley out of here first,” I said while looking around. We were about to reach the house but suddenly, someone attacked us. Not us. But Vivian was much faster than him. He dodged out of his way and grabbed him by the neck and cracked him up in a single move.
Wow!
Another man showed up with a pistol, but after seeing his partner’s condition, he looked like he had to shift his pants. Vivian didn’t wait and beat him up. I smiled at victory, even though it was Vivian’s. His skill impressed me. He was the right man for the boss.
With him, I didn’t need to worry about my life because he was much more powerful than the rest of the criminals. He took them down one by one until a man blocked him and the next moment, he jabbed his knife into Vivian’s arm deeply.
And I froze.
Lucian!!
My eyes grew wide. That was the last thing I was expecting. I watched them, horrified. I didn’t take the time to understand the entire scene. Guarin. He came here for me. It was too soon. I was not ready yet!
Vivian hit Lucian’s jaw, and he struggled to his feet, stepping back. Before Lucian could recover from his hit, Vivian punched his nose so hard that it seemed like he had broken his nose’s bone. Lucian clutched his nose while narrowing his eyes at Vivian. I felt a double panic when Vivian pulled out his gun and pressed it against his head. Lucian was too weak in front of Vivian, and he didn’t take the time to kill him.
“No!” I blurted out, trembling. My stomach clenched due to fear.
Vivian didn’t notice my reaction and pulled the trigger, but immediately, I jerked his hand away.
“What the fuck was that?” Vivian asked, confusion across his face.
I swallowed hard and said nothing.
Lucian looked at me, wondering.
Vivian grabbed my hand and pulled me to his side. “What did I tell you? Just stay behind me.”
I found my body shaking and my heart was throbbing so hard that it almost hurt my chest. He was saving me from my friend.
“Let her go.” An icy voice said from behind.
Guarin.
Vivian pressed my body against his back. “Want her, then fight me first.” He snarled at him.
Guarin appeared next, laughing maniacally. “Baby, didn’t you tell him the whole truth? When did my blood queen become a coward?” When those words left out his mouth, Vivian’s grip loosened around my waist.
Guarin approached me and grasped my hand while pulling me to his side. Vivian didn’t protest it and let me go into another man’s arms. Before I could understand anything, Guarin pulled me into a hard kiss in front of Vivian. I felt nauseous when his mouth sucked my lips. I wanted to shove him away, but I wasn't able to do it at that moment because I was feeling too weak. “Did you miss me?” Finally, he pulled himself from me and looked at me. He has both hands grabbing my face. “I wanted to punish you so badly, but seeing your beautiful face, I forget all my fury.”
“Who’re you?” I heard Vivian’s impatient voice. I looked at him. His jaw clenched hard and his grip on the gun tightened. The anger flowed through him like lava.
“Who the fuck are you?” This time, his voice filled with rage, and I jolted.
“I never thought the dark king would be so stupid that he would let a woman wrap him around her finger. Even you brought my girlfriend to her favorite place.” Guarin provoked him. “It was not your mistake.” He wrapped his arm around me. “My baby is so beautiful that any man wants her.”
Vivian’s nostrils flared. He looked like he wanted to smash his head and make him bleed out. “This is not my fucking answer!”
I lifted my eyes, meeting his burning gaze. “I’m Kiara Seton.”
“Sister of Fabian Seton,” Guarin said, and his ugly sneer never left his lips.
“Fabian Seton?” Vivian asked in a voice I had never heard from him. It was extremely dangerous. His chest and shoulders heaving, his face a mask of acute agony. “How dare you! You betrayed me! You lied to me! Why?!” He roared as he was looking like he wanted to kill me on the spot.
I swallowed hard. The memories poured into my mind when I saw my father’s dead face and my brother’s rotten body. Don’t be emotional Kia. He had killed your family mercilessly. I had to avenge my father's and brother’s death.
My hands clenched into fists. “Because you killed my family, and I wanted to kill you in return. Yes, I lied to you. I betrayed you. So that I could get your life.” I stepped towards him, facing him fearlessly. “I fucked you so that I could fuck with your mind. Now today I’m going to fulfil all my desires.”
Vivian said nothing. All he did was look at me with fury and betrayal.
“Kill him, Kia, before his men approach us,” Guarin said. “Just remember one thing: he is a man who has beaten your brother worse than an animal. He tortured him until his last breath. Your brother kept begging him for mercy, but he never showed and gave him merciless death.”
“I would kill him twice if he were here. He should have died twice.” It was hard to miss the hostility and brutality in his voice and his eyes.
The anger flooded my veins when my brother’s face flashed in my mind. I drew a deep breath and pulled out a knife. “Kill me or allow me to kill you.”
“I don’t beat women,” Vivian gritted.
I let out an empty laugh before shoving the knife into his abdomen first, and he hissed with pain. “You took everything from me, Vivian!” I sliced his left arm. “You took away my dreams.” I jabbed his neck. “You killed my family.” Despite so much pain, he still stood proud and confident. Again, I shoved the knife into his stomach. “You took away my happiness.” I closed my eyes, feeling unbearable pain in my heart. Every cut on his body seemed like stabbing my heart. How could he be so calm? Why didn’t he point his gun at me?
His t-shirt became soaked in blood. He was just watching my every move and didn’t take his eyes off me.
“This is enough for him,” I said, looking down at my bloody hands.
I didn’t want to kill him.
“You’ve got to be kidding!” Lucian blurted out, angry at my action. “Just remember your past, Kia. Just remember how you rap...” He shook his head, never wanting to complete his sentence.
“Now let me finish what you’ve begun,” Guarin said and raised his gun and fired, shooting Vivian right in his chest.
Vivian’s body jerked with a bullet, and his blood sprayed into the air in front of my face. And the next moment his body collapsed against the floor with a loud thump, and he lay still, his eyes open. He was bleeding profusely.
“No!!” I screamed, and terror gripped my body.
A tear dropped to my cheeks as I sat down beside his body. I was fucking crying for a man who had destroyed me completely. I never shed a single tear in these four years. And now I’m crying for him.
“Kia, are you crying?” Lucian watched me, dumbfounded.
Vivian stared at me with unconcern. His lips twisted into a mocking smile. “Just pray to God that I won’t be able to push through this! Just wishing for my death because if I push through this, then I won’t leave a tiny piece of you, Kiara Seton! I’ll destroy the hell out of you!” His lips stretched into a vulnerable smile. “After all, you’re the sister of my wife’s killer.”
I paused for a moment. “What do you mean?”
He gazed straight into my eyes and there I saw immense hatred for me. It was millions of times more than my hatred. “Get the fuck out of here.”
“Vivian...” I took hold of his hand.
“Kia, let’s go. His men are on the way,” Lucian said worriedly.
“We’ve gotta get out of here,” Guarin growled and grabbed me by my arm.
I wiped away my tears. “I need to take someone first.” I needed to take Harley out of here because I didn’t want her to see her dying father.
“No! You won’t!!” Vivian roared when he understood who I was talking about.
I looked at him for the very first time. I saw fear in his eyes. “You won’t, Kiara!!” He breathed in deeply, enduring immense pain in his chest. “I’ll give you worse death if you hurt a single hair of her!!”
“I’ll gladly accept it,” I said and walked into the house. My heart squeezed when memories flooded my mind. We had a great time together. I could never erase all those memories. I opened the drawer and grabbed the syringe. She had to be unconscious first. I opened the door and found her on the bed. She was rubbing her eyes. Perhaps she would have woken up by the sounds of guns.
“Kia, what is happening outside?” She asked and quickly jogged to me, catching my bloody hand. “What happened to your hands? Oh God, you are bleeding.”
It was your father’s blood, baby.
“Let me take care of it. I’ll bring the first-aid kit.” She headed towards the bathroom, but before she could enter, I rammed the needle into her arm. She cried out before falling into my arms. “Sorry, baby,” I whispered and carried her carefully.
I walked out. “What did you do to her?” Vivian growled and pushed his body up, trying to stand on his feet. He was scared after seeing Harley’s unconscious body in my arms. “You fucking whore!!”
I gasped at his words.
He grabbed his gun and pointed it at me, and I knew he would never miss his aim. “Put her down!!”
“Go ahead, Vivian,” I said, smiling sadly.
His muscles tightened, and his body was slouched due to cuts all over his body. “Let her go!! If you don’t want me to hurt you.” He threatened.
“Fuck, his men are here!!” Guarin growled. “We’ve got to go. Get the car!!” He ordered one of his men impatiently.
Lucian reached me, looking at Harley. “What happened to her?”
“She has been unconscious for a few hours.”
“Why are you taking her with us?”
“I don’t want her to see his father in this condition. I’ll return here in a few days. But now I can’t leave her alone.”
He nodded. “Let me hold her for you. I’ll take her in the car.”
Suddenly, the gun flew in the air and cut through Lucian’s skin. Vivian shot him. Even though he was in worse condition, he still could fight against his enemy. Before he could shoot Lucian one more time, I knocked him off and snatched his gun. “Don’t make it hard for us,” I hissed.
“I should have known it. I was really stupid,” he whispered before slamming against the floor.
Half of me wanted to take him to the hospital. He had lost so much blood. But in the end, I couldn’t do this because it would not give peace to my father and brother. Let him die. I took a deep breath before crossing his body without glancing at him once. Finally, I get what I want.
I slipped into the back seat where Harley was lying unconscious. Lucian sat behind the wheel, and Guarin took the passenger seat.
“Speed up the car,” Guarin growled, and Lucian sped up the car.
I rested my head against the car window. “Why did my brother kill his wife?” I asked silently.
Guarin glanced over his shoulder. “Ask your mother.” Smirked played across his lips. “And yes, Vivian didn’t kill your father.”
