Chapter 147 Chapter 147
Chapter 147 Chapter 147
It was already late at night when Logan slowly opened his eyes.
For a moment, he didn't know where he was.
His eyes slowly adjusted to the dimly lit room, and the first thing he noticed was someone sitting beside his bed.
Chase.
He was asleep, his head resting against the edge of the mattress, but his hand was tightly wrapped around Logan's.
Logan stared at him for a moment.
He looked exhausted.
Slowly, Logan tried reaching for him.
But before he could, the memories came rushing back.
Liam.
The club.
The drug.
The fear.
And what had happened.
Logan's chest tightened painfully as everything flooded back at once. His stomach twisted with anger and disgust, and tears immediately filled his eyes.
He tried to hold them back, but they slipped down his cheeks.
Slowly, he pulled his hand away from Chase's.
The sudden movement woke Chase.
His eyes opened almost immediately, and the moment he realized Logan was awake, relief washed over his face.
"Baby, you're awake." He said, his voice filled with relief.
He immediately sat up.
"A...are you in any pain? Do you need anything? Should I call the doctor?"
Logan simply shook his head, tears continuing to stream down his cheeks.
Chase's heart ached at the sight.
He instinctively tried moving closer, but Logan immediately recoiled, shaking his head.
"Don't come close to me, please." He whispered in a broken voice.
Chase stopped.
"Okay." He said softly.
He remembered the doctor's words. Logan had already been through enough. The last thing he needed was to feel pressured or trapped.
"It's okay. I won't."
Logan covered his face with both hands and began crying harder.
"It's all my fault."
Chase's expression immediately broke.
"You warned me about him, but I never listened." Logan sobbed. "I thought he was my friend."
His breathing became uneven.
"It's all my fault! It's all my fault!"
He suddenly began hitting himself, and Chase reacted immediately, gently catching his hands before he could hurt himself again.
"Logan, stop."
"I'm dirty!" Logan cried. "I'm disgusting!"
"Don't say that."
Chase held his wrists gently, preventing him from hurting himself.
"Please, Logan."
Logan tried pulling away.
"Let me go, Chase! Let me go!"
Chase released his wrists but stayed close enough to keep him safe.
"You don't have to fight me." He whispered.
Logan broke down completely.
"I'm tainted." He cried. "You won't want anything to do with someone like me."
Chase's eyes filled with tears.
"Enough, Logan. Please."
His voice trembled as he continued.
"Please don't talk about yourself like that."
Logan shook his head, sobbing uncontrollably.
Chase hesitated for a moment before asking softly, "Can I hold you?"
Logan didn't answer.
But after a few seconds, he slowly leaned toward him.
Chase immediately wrapped his arms around him, holding him carefully against his chest.
Logan no longer fought him.
He simply cried.
"I'm sorry, Chase." He whispered between sobs. "I couldn't stop him. I couldn't do anything."
"It's not your fault, baby."
Chase gently rubbed his back.
"Whatever happened to you isn't your fault."
He pulled back slightly and looked at Logan.
Logan couldn't meet his eyes.
Chase gently lifted his chin, giving him enough time to pull away if he wanted to.
When Logan didn't, Chase carefully wiped the tears from his face.
"Never ever call yourself dirty." He said firmly.
More tears slipped down Logan's cheeks.
Chase wiped them away again.
"You're not disgusting, and you're not tainted."
His voice softened.
"I don't see someone who's dirty when I look at you."
He placed his hand gently against Logan's cheek.
"I see you, Logan. The man I fell in love with."
Logan's lips trembled.
"I love you so freaking much." Chase whispered. "And nothing that happened to you is ever going to change that."
Logan stared at him through his tears.
"I love you, baby. I'll be here for as long as you need me. If you need space, I'll give you space. If you need me to sit beside you, I'll sit beside you. Whatever you need, I'll be here."
His voice cracked.
"I'm not leaving you."
"Chase..." Logan whispered brokenly.
Chase pulled him gently back into his arms.
"I'm sorry." He whispered. "I promised I'd protect you, but I failed."
Logan immediately shook his head.
"I should've trusted my gut. I should've gone with you. If I'd just gotten there earlier—"
He couldn't finish.
Logan wanted to tell him it wasn't his fault.
He wanted to tell him that he had warned him, that there was nothing he could have done to know what Liam was planning.
But his voice failed him.
All he could do was cry.
Chase held him tightly, gently running his hand through his hair.
"You don't have to say anything."
He pressed a soft kiss against Logan's forehead.
"You're safe now."
Logan closed his eyes.
"I'm right here." Chase whispered. "I'm not going anywhere."
And for the first time since waking up, Logan allowed himself to believe that he wasn't alone.
Liam sat on the couch with his head thrown back, staring blankly into the darkness.
Empty beer bottles were scattered across the floor around him, some lying on their sides, others still half full. The room was completely dark. He had closed every window and drawn the curtains, shutting out every bit of light from the outside world.
But no amount of darkness could hide him from his own thoughts.
Ever since what happened, Liam hadn't been able to sleep. He hadn't been able to find a moment of peace.
Every time he closed his eyes, all he could see was Logan's crying face beneath him.
He could hear his voice.
"I trusted you, Liam."
Liam's chest tightened painfully.
He squeezed his eyes shut, but the memory only became clearer.
"I trusted you."
The words echoed inside his head again and again.
Liam ran a trembling hand through his hair before burying his face in his palms. A broken sob escaped his lips as tears slipped between his fingers.
"What have I done?"
His voice cracked.
He had let his obsession with Logan consume him. He had allowed his jealousy, his anger and his twisted desire to have Logan for himself to become more important than Logan's feelings.
And now, he had hurt the one person he claimed to love.
The one person who had trusted him.
The one person who had called him a friend.
Liam lowered his hands and stared at the floor, his vision blurred by tears.
He wished he could turn back time.
He wished he could go back to the moment Logan walked into that room and stop himself.
But he couldn't.
Nothing could change what had happened.
His heart was filled with shame and regret, but he didn't know what to do with either of them.
He was confused.
Scared.
Terrified.
For a brief, frightening moment, his mind even drifted towards ending his own life, and the thought made him break down even harder.
Maybe everyone would be better off without him.
Maybe Logan would never have to see his face again.
But even then, Liam knew that dying wouldn't undo what he had done.
It wouldn't erase Logan's pain.
It wouldn't give Logan back the trust he had taken from him.
It wouldn't make the memory disappear.
Liam covered his face again, sobbing bitterly.
"I wish I could see you." He whispered. "I wish I could apologize."
But he knew he had no right to ask Logan for forgiveness.
Not now.
Maybe not ever.
How could he dare show his face to Logan after everything he had done to him?
Liam suddenly threw his head back and let out a painful scream.
The sound tore through the darkness of the apartment, filled with shame, fear and regret.
He screamed until his throat hurt, until there was nothing left inside him except exhaustion.
Then his body slowly slid down the couch until he was sitting on the floor.
He pulled his knees towards his chest and cried uncontrollably.
"I'm sorry, Logan." He whispered between sobs. "I'm so sorry."
His tears continued falling.
"I'm sorry."
He lowered his head, his shoulders shaking.
"I don't deserve your forgiveness."
He closed his eyes as another sob escaped him.
"I don't deserve to live."
For a long moment, Liam remained there on the cold floor, drowning in the consequences of his own actions.
And for the first time, there was no fantasy of having Logan.
No jealousy.
No excuse.
Only the terrible truth of what he had done.
He had hurt the person who trusted him most.
And there was nothing he could do to take it back.
Jace and the guys were currently at Scott's apartment.
They had spent several hours trying to track down Liam, but every lead they found seemed to take them nowhere.
Ethan sat on the couch with his laptop resting on his thighs, his fingers moving quickly across the keyboard as he searched through everything he could find about Liam.
Scott stood near the window with his arms crossed over his chest, while Jacob paced around the living room impatiently.
Jace hadn't said much.
He simply sat there, staring at his phone, his jaw clenched tightly.
All he could think about was Logan lying unconscious in that hospital bed.
The thought of Liam hurting him made his blood boil.
Then, suddenly, Ethan stopped typing.
"Found it."
Everyone's attention immediately snapped towards him.
Ethan quickly stood up, turning the laptop around.
"I checked his social media and everything else I could find. I finally got his address."
His gaze shifted towards Jace.
"Let me see." Jace said as he immediately got to his feet and walked over to him.
Ethan showed him the address on the screen.
Jace stared at it for a few seconds before nodding.
"Good."
His eyes burned with rage as he looked at the address again.
"We should pay him a visit."
Jacob stepped closer.
Scott grabbed his jacket from the back of the chair.
No one needed to ask what Jace meant.
They were going to find Liam.
And he wasn't going to get away.
