My Heart

My Heart
MIRABELLA

After standing for a while, I finally got into my car and drove myself back home. I went straight to my bed and threw myself on it, thinking about the next step I needed to take.

My phone rang and when I saw "Charmer" on my screen, I instantly answered the call and asked, "What's up, Aiden?"

"How did it go?" Aiden asked. "Are you guys a couple now?"

"I wish it were that easy," I replied. "He wouldn't even look at me but I can't give up."

Aiden was quiet for a while before saying, "Sorry, dear. Just give it time and you will get what you want. You're an amazing girl and Lucas would be lucky to have you."

I smiled, "Thanks, Charmer, you really know how to make me happy. See you tomorrow."

As I lay on my bed, I thought about the best way to attract Lucas' attention and came up with the idea of dressing provocatively to his company. Even without an appointment, I knew how to get myself invited into his office. No matter how much Lucas tried, he would not be able to turn his eyes away from a sexy and beautiful young girl such as me. I finally felt relieved after coming up with this plan.

I heard my parents drive in and knew that their ears would be itching for news about my supposed date. I was not wrong.

My mum walked into my room and said, "It's nice to see that you're back. How did your date go, Princess?"

My dad didn't come into my room but I knew he was by the door waiting to hear some gossip. Even though my parents acted like I had all the freedom in the world, I knew this side of them would show up sooner than later.

My Mom sat beside me on the bed, her eyes brimming with curiosity.

"What date?" I asked her. "There's nothing to tell for now, mum. If it works out, then I'll tell you about it."

My Mom smiled and patted me lovingly on the back, "Okay, Princess. I wish you all the best and feel free to talk to me about it whenever you feel like it."

I smiled and hugged her, "Thank you mum, you're so sweet."

"You're welcome," my mum replied and got up to leave.

"Okay, Princess," I heard my dad chip in. "Remember not to fall for him first. Men can't be trusted, your dad is the only exception. Even your Mom will agree."

I shook my head while smiling as he continued, "Before it gets too serious, I have to meet him. I need to be sure he is worthy of my Princess."

I sighed, knowing how impossible that was but then I heard my mum say, "Don't do that, my love. I'm sure Ella knows what she is doing. Besides, my parents didn't approve of you from the start."

"But the circumstances were different," I heard my dad reply as they both walked away. I was impressed with my mum. When did she become so cool?

The next day, I got ready for school as usual, dropped Cam off, and drove to my college. Just like yesterday, I had plans to slip away after my first class.

I was going to miss two classes but I convinced myself that I would make up for them once I got what I was chasing. I needed to be bold and forward if I was to get Lucas' attention.

I knew it would not be easy since I had never done anything of that sort before but there's always a first time, right?

When I arrived, I saw Aiden in the parking lot and realized he was waiting for me. We said our hi's and walked to class together.

I noticed Nova walking into the class as well and recalled how she had snubbed me the previous day. I decided to ignore her too but then she waved at me.

At first, I thought she was waving at Aiden but when I looked to my side, I realized he had moved away and was now speaking to someone else.

For some reason, I felt happy and waved back at her. We both smiled at each other and once again, I noticed her and Aiden exchange glances before she went into the class.

I quickly pulled him to the side and asked, "Now, what exactly is going on? Why is Nova suddenly so friendly towards me?"

"I'm surprised as well," Aiden replied. "Although, we did spend most of last night talking to each other on the phone."

I nodded thoughtfully before saying, "Tell me the truth Aiden, do you like like Nova? I need to know."

"Stop asking me that," Aiden snapped, much to my surprise. "Focus on the project you have at hand. Nova has very good qualities and any guy would be lucky to have her. That's what matters."

As I watched Aiden walk into the class, I became convinced that he had feelings for Nova, otherwise, he could have denied it.

I smiled and whispered more to myself, "All the best, Charmer."

The moment the professor left the class, I followed. I hurried to the parking lot, got into my car, and drove back home. This time my parents weren't home and it made me so happy because I needed all the privacy I could get.

I wore a very short, skintight black gown. It exposed my thighs and accentuated my curves and I knew it would drive Lucas crazy. I also wore thick makeup as I'd read that men found women with thick makeup seductive.

I stared at my reflection in the floor-to-ceiling mirror and sighed. Yes, I looked hot but this wasn't me. If whoever knew me saw me in such a provocative dress, they would be shocked and my parents might be disappointed.

After thinking for a while, I doffed the skimpy gown, wiped off my makeup, and went into the bathroom to wash up. When I came out, I gave up on the makeup and simply wore a long white gown with my long her tied at my back.

It made me look different from how I did the previous day and a few minutes ago but I was more confident because I didn't look like a slut. I finally drove out of my house and went straight to Lucas' company.

It was a big corporation but still years away from my father's. When I walked into the building, I met the receptionist and told her that I came to see Mr. Keeler.

When she asked me my name, I said, "Ella."

She checked her records and said, "I'm sorry ma'am but you do not have an appointment with Mr. Keeler today. Make an appointment first before coming to see him."

I smiled at her, "You can tell him that I'm here to represent Mr. Angelo Flores. I'm his daughter."

The receptionist stared at me for a while and said, "Hold on," before going inside.

I desperately hoped that he would not call my dad to confirm. Of course, my dad would call me and get back to him but once I got back home, I will be saddled with a million questions. I didn't want him to know that I had the hots for Lucas, at least not yet.

The receptionist came out after a few minutes and said, "Mr. Keeler will see you now."

My heart skipped a beat and as I began following the receptionist's direction to Lucas' office, my feet felt heavy.

Nevertheless, I propelled myself forward, knocked on his door, and went inside after his sonorous voice called me in.

The look of surprise on Lucas' face as he got up from his chair, did not ease the rapid beating of my heart but I knew that it was now or never."

"You?" He asked for the second time in two days.

"Yes, me. Hi Mr. Keeler," I managed as I struggled to stop myself from telling him that he was so hot.

"You're Mr. Flores' daughter?" He asked again.

I nodded in reply.

"Your dad sent you to me?" He asked once more.

I shook my head this time, "No, I'm sorry I lied. I just really needed to see you."

He nodded, "I see. It was Elle, right?"

I could not believe he remembered my name. I smiled so widely that the sides of my lips began to hurt.

He sat down and I was surprised to see him acting so calmly and cordially toward me, "Have a seat and tell me why you really wanted to see me, Elle."

I took the seat that was directly facing him, ignoring the loud thumping of my heart. His eyes regarded mine as though he could read what was in my mind from staring at my eyes.

I opened my mouth to speak but the words took forever to come out. He kept staring at me, patiently waiting for what I wanted to say. After what seemed like ages, I finally said, "Mr. Lucas, my heart...."

When I did not complete what I wanted to say, he gestured with his hand, "Go on, Elle, what about your heart?"

I closed my eyes and opened them again before whispering, "My heart beats for you."
