Chapter 398

Chapter 398

I didn't fall asleep until very late, and by the time I woke up the next day, the sun was already high in the sky.

I reached for my phone as I woke up, but no matter how much I fumbled around, I couldn't find it.

I had no choice but to slowly sit up and stare at the empty nightstand.

"Did he take my phone?"

"Did I leave it in the car last night?"

I muttered to myself, shaking my head, hoping to clear the fog from my mind.

Last night I couldn't sleep, so I'd played games for a long time. By all logic, my phone should be dead, not completely missing.

I got out of bed and looked around, but there was no trace of my phone anywhere.

Levi wouldn't be petty enough to take my phone, would he? Sure, I'd been out all day yesterday, but he wouldn't use my phone to control my behavior, would he?

Even during his most controlling phases, he'd never touched my phone. Now, when I was this emotionally fragile, he'd be even less likely to.

After washing my face, I headed downstairs.

Indigo was arranging flowers. She'd already finished all the household chores.

"Mrs. Morgan, you're awake."

"Indigo, have you seen my phone?"

I was just asking casually. Something as personal as a phone should be with me.

"It's on the table. Mr. Morgan said you'd set an alarm, and he was worried it would disturb your sleep, so he brought it to the living room."

He knew I couldn't sleep last night?

I sat down on the sofa and picked up my phone. When I turned it on, the battery was full.

Indigo smiled. "Mr. Morgan asked me to charge it for you."

I really hadn't expected Levi to be this thoughtful. Not only was he not curious about my phone, he'd even had Indigo charge it.

As usual, there were many new messages. I checked the company group chat first—nothing special, just a meeting notification.

Then I opened Henry's messages.

As I read them, my heart couldn't help but tremble.

[Mrs. Morgan, last night before bed we were in separate rooms. I was so tired I forgot to lock my door. This morning I found her lying next to me.]

This was absolutely explosive. Arabella was truly beyond description. Didn't this old woman feel any shame about her behavior?

The worst had happened!

"Mrs. Morgan, what do you think about adding a hydrangea here?"

"Sure."

I responded absentmindedly, my mind already racing elsewhere.

"Mrs. Morgan, how about a lily?"

I nodded repeatedly. "All good, all good."

As I spoke, I stood up. I needed to find a quiet place to contact Henry.

Faye was playing a game on her phone and bumped into my arm.

"Sorry, Blair! Did I hurt you?"

"I'm fine."

"Where are you going?"

"To my office. I have something to take care of."

She kept playing her game without asking further questions.

I hurried to my office. With no one else home, it was perfectly quiet.

I found Henry's number and called him.

"Mrs. Morgan."

"Henry, where are you right now?"

"At the office."

"Is she still at your place?"

"Yes."

"I just saw your message. I'm so sorry. This is really asking too much of you."

"Mrs. Morgan, please don't worry. Nothing happened. I was just startled. The moment I opened my eyes, she was smiling at me. Nearly scared me to death..."

I pictured the scene. Arabella's smile was the kind that never reached her eyes—genuinely creepy at first glance.

"Did she tell you her plans? Is she planning to stay at your place?"

"She said being alone makes her overthink things. She asked if she could stay at my place for a while."

Since we'd already invited her, we might as well agree to her request.

"We're still in a critical period, so I'll have to keep imposing on you. But try to avoid contact with her, and remember to lock your door at night."

"Okay, I'll remember. She really scared the soul out of me. Even though I'm a man, I genuinely felt violated."

"I'm so sorry..."

"Mrs. Morgan, please don't feel guilty. I haven't lost anything."

He was still trying to comfort me. I felt terrible. If I hadn't been so determined to deal with Arabella, I never would have come up with a strategy that sacrificed him like this.

"Henry, your brother said you're single. You really are single, right? This won't cause problems for you, will it?"

"Yes, I'm single. Please don't worry, I'm fine."

"All right, I won't keep you from your work."

After the call ended, I transferred money to Henry. I felt incredibly guilty and could only try to make it up with money.

But he quickly returned the payment.

Henry was a kind person. He knew this money was compensation for his emotional distress, but he didn't need it.

He was helping me sincerely, without any ulterior motives about money.

"Blair, Levi sent you a package!"

Faye called from outside. I put my phone in my pajama pocket and went out to the yard.

"What's going on?"

"I don't know either. It's from Levi."

What was Levi up to, sending me a package in broad daylight?

With just one phone call, the driver could have picked anything up. Why go through the trouble of sending a package?

Faye waited for me to open it.

"Blair, Levi's really become romantic."

"We don't even know what it is yet. How is it romantic?"

I slowly opened the box and found a stack of documents.

There was a note in Levi's handwriting: 'Since you're bored at home alone, I'm sending you the company's recent major projects to review. If you're interested, you can make notes, and we can discuss them when I get home.'

Levi still wouldn't let me off the hook. He wouldn't let me come to the office, but instead sent home these major Morgan Group projects for me to review. These were part of his daily work—confidential documents. Was a secretary really supposed to see these?

"Blair, Levi's really so boring."

Faye was dismissive.

"I told you—we never get more than three peaceful days. Once we have three calm days, something absolutely ridiculous happens right after."

"You're so unfortunate. How did you end up with such an annoying husband? I really don't know what you saw in this boring man."

I smiled helplessly. Meeting Levi had been intoxicating. I couldn't pinpoint exactly what I liked about him—I liked all of him.

Looking at it from another angle, him proactively sharing important company documents with me showed his recognition of me. He truly saw me as someone close, as part of the company.

"Blair, I want to go to the night market again today. Do you want to come?"

I smiled awkwardly. How should I turn her down? Last time was to meet Jenna, but this time I definitely didn't want to get caught by Levi again.

"You don't have to go yourself. I'll have the driver make the trip and buy everything you like. How about that?"

Faye pouted. "You said it yourself—the night market is all about experiencing the atmosphere. If I don't go myself, it won't be fun."
