Chapter 170

Chapter 170

The atmosphere was still icy cold. Levi took the initiative to pick out gifts, which cooled Aiden's anger a bit.

"They're all in the storage room. Let Jasper go with you to get them."

Aiden placed both hands on his cane and glanced at Cleo.

"I'll go with him. My company also has some clients I need to network with. Thanks for the gifts, Grandpa. You're saving us quite a bit of money."

I stood up, wanting to escape from here for a moment. Everyone was treating me specially now, which made me feel uncomfortable.

"Mm, you have good taste. Help him pick some out."

My taste was nowhere near as sharp as Levi's, but I could choose things based on people's preferences.

As soon as we left the living room, I took a deep breath. Finally, I could relax a bit. Being in front of everyone felt a little suffocating.

"Is this already too much for you?"

"Not really. Compared to the pressure you give me, this is nothing."

Back when I worked under him, I did all kinds of weird things, like leaving work early to pack his luggage when he had a business trip.

We entered the storage room. Jasper didn't follow us in, letting us pick whatever we wanted.

Levi grabbed a few items casually, then turned to look at me.

"You want to relocate the grave?"

Did he put a tracker on me or something? Besides Jessa and Master Moore, no one else knew about this.

"How did you know?"

He sat down in a wicker chair nearby, leaning back.

"The bodyguards I arranged for you have been doing their job."

I thought no one was protecting me anymore. I had no idea he still had people secretly watching over me. I hadn't noticed anyone following me at all.

"Tracking me is pretty pointless, isn't it? Don't these bodyguards cost money?"

"Getting firsthand information is worth it."

I saw him flash a sly smile. I really wanted to throw the tea leaves in my hand at him. I never expected he'd be keeping tabs on my whereabouts.

"So you know everyone I've met and everything I've said?"

Levi narrowed his eyes. "Not entirely."

"You already knew I was innocent about the gifts people sent me?"

"Not entirely."

That sounded so annoying. I didn't expect him to get weirder and weirder.

I turned away, not looking at him. Talking to him was too exhausting.

Suddenly, he sat up straight and grabbed my hand. "About relocating the grave, let me handle it."

"Not now. Jessa's dead set on burying Chase there. I talked to her before, and she said she wants to disgust me. There's no room for negotiation."

"I'll talk to her."

I scoffed. "What, you want an excuse to see her? Actually, it's fine. You don't need to use this as an excuse."

"You're too sensitive."

Levi stood up and left with the items.

Was I too sensitive?

After everything that happened, shouldn't I be on guard?

If the two of them rekindled their old flame someday, I'd be the fool.

I admit I shouldn't be so sarcastic, but the grievances I've suffered make me say things like that without thinking. I said it on purpose.

Now I was alone. I didn't feel right taking too much. I was only here temporarily for some peace and quiet. When he left, I felt empty inside.

I picked out a few cans of tea. It seemed like I was choosing for myself.

"Mr. Aiden Morgan said you should take more. Once you've chosen, we'll arrange to have them sent to you."

Jasper saw me carrying things myself and reached out to take them.

"No need. I don't have many friends. I won't use that much."

"If you don't take them, we'll still send you some. In this house, Mr. Aiden Morgan dotes on you the most. To be honest, you're like his own granddaughter."

Over the years, I knew about Aiden's favoritism toward me. At first, it might have been sympathy for what I'd been through, but later it was definitely because of Levi—loving me because he loved him.

"Did he leave?"

"He's outside on the phone."

I walked through the hallway and saw Levi on the phone over there. When I got close to him, he suddenly hung up.

He turned to glance at me, then walked back into the living room, looking thoughtful.

What had to be faced still had to be faced. Even if I was leaving, I needed to say goodbye to the elders.

Besides, Celestia was still inside. I hadn't properly held her yet.

Just as I was about to step over the threshold, my phone rang in my pocket.

Everyone turned to look at me. I smiled awkwardly and backed out again.

Unknown number, local.

I answered it, and the moment the person spoke, I was stunned.

"Blair, do you think I'll give Levi face? Dream on. His reputation doesn't work anymore. Don't even think about relocating the grave."

Obviously, Levi had just contacted her and been rejected. He felt embarrassed, which was why he avoided my eyes.

"I have my own ways."

"You have ways? You two have really gotten in sync. He just told me I didn't need to pay back the money, and he'd give me more on top of that."

Jessa changed her tone and continued, "I have to say, this money's easier to make than doing commercials."

"You won't get a penny. I won't contact you again."

"If you'd been involved in his funeral arrangements back then, I would've listened to you about everything. Now you can't stand it and want to relocate the grave? No way!"

"You think I'll compromise just because Levi contacted me? How about this—pass a message to him. Tell him if he makes me Mrs. Morgan, I'll agree to relocate the grave. Not only can you move it, but you can also move it anywhere—to the ends of the earth if you want."

"You're the one dreaming. I'm telling you, I will relocate that grave, and as for the title of Mrs. Morgan, don't even think about it!"

I hung up, getting angry just thinking about Jessa's sharp face on the other end.

I told him not to get involved, but he still contacted her.

Jessa didn't give him face, which must have hurt him deeply.

He used to smooth over her troubles time and time again. Now she wouldn't even budge on something as simple as relocating a grave. It was truly disheartening.

Actually, I'd already found a direction. The will made it very clear that I could arrange Chase's funeral matters, so I could say the feng shui was bad or something and have him moved.

But Master Moore told me to let go of my obsession and not think about this for now, which was why I hadn't confronted Jessa again.

The bodyguards Levi arranged really did report my every move in detail. I could handle Jessa's insults, but Levi probably felt humiliated for the moment.

"Blair, it's cold outside. Why aren't you coming in?"

Rhea saw me and was about to stand up to come find me.

I quickly shoved my phone in my pocket and walked quickly toward her.

"Grandma, something came up at the company. I took a call. It's handled now."

From the corner of my eye, I saw Levi looking down at his phone, typing something on the screen.

"I know you young people are all very dedicated, but as the baby gets bigger, you should reduce your workload."

"Grandma, the workload is heavy. I can't slack off. I can only strengthen my abilities, and then I'll know how to manage the company more easily."

Aiden sighed. "Maybe my decision made you..."

"No, Grandpa."

I immediately interrupted, but Cleo still asked.

"Grandpa, what decision?"
