Chapter 31

Muffled footsteps were heard in the corridor, and then the wooden door opened, letting a young man into the room. His hard blue eyes stumbled upon the fragile girl who rose from the bed at the sight of him. Her frustrated gaze dropped to the floor, she was drooping.

'Honey, I need your help.'

'And what is it?'

'I want to give a present to my son,' Williams Foster said slyly, coming too close. 'Give you.'

'I don't understand, will you let me go?' Her eyes instantly sparkled with joy.

'Yes, you will be free. Now let my boys turn you into candy.'

He waved his hand forward, as if giving someone a sign, which in fact was, two young men entered the room.

'Pack her up.'

Mr. Foster left the premises, giving orders to his men. The girl raised her head in alarm, narrowing her eyebrows. His body tensed in fear at the uncertainty of their next move.

A muscular guy who was too tall and huge in mass, took a chair from under the table, placing it in the middle of the room. The brunet began to approach Hayley until he caught her in his strong grip. He forcefully sat the girl on a chair, blocking all her resistance. Another man began wrapping rope around Mackenzie's body, wrapping more and more with each lap.

The rope strongly dug into the delicate skin, the whole body was actually immobilized.

The guy took out a black bandage, wrapping it around the woman's head so that the young lady could not see anything. After that, the man easily lifted the chair with the girl on it, as if it was something too simple, and carried her to the basement, accompanied by the guy.

Hailey screamed at the sudden weightlessness, now understanding why her eyes were closed.

She was afraid that James would not be able to find her, and she would not be able to get out on her own.

The brown-haired woman was brought into a dark basement, leaving her there alone, but not forgetting to remove the black bandage from her eyes.

'Rest,' the man finally threw, closing the heavy door, after which the only streak of light disappeared.

James' motorcade stopped nearby so that no one could hear the sound of a car engine.

When all the people got out of the cars, they went to Foster's house, led by James. They didn't have much of a plan, all they had to do was take Hailey, kill Williams, and most importantly, stay alive.

As they got closer and closer to the gate, a surprise awaited them.

In front stood James's father, flanked by two armed, muscular men, and in the back a massive number of his men.

'Apparently, they were waiting for us,' Miller said in his ear, who was standing a little behind Jay.

Williams grinned, beckoning one son without his mutts to him. Foster Jr. told his men that he would go alone, but that they should be fully prepared.

He walked with confident steps, slightly slow to annoy his father.

'Where's Hailey?' The guy asked rudely, not reaching ten meters to be in the security zone.

'And where is the greeting, son?' The man was clearly mocking him.

'I asked my question,' the blond man insisted, then smirked. 'or you're already too old to hear.'

'Why so rude,' the brown-haired man shook his head. 'I prepared a gift for you, and you treat me like that...'

James's men stood at his side at the back, ready to break loose and pounce on the man in front of them. There were far fewer of them, but they were young, strong and fast.

The amount doesn't matter when the skill is there.

'What the hell are we talking about?'

'You came to fight, so let's start. I'll show you later, my son.'

James clenched his jaw, clenching his hands into fists. Sparks appeared in the dark blue eyes, after which the guy immediately delivered a strong blow to his father's jaw.

This was followed by a command to attack, Jay's dogs broke loose from their chains, attacking Foster's men.

Williams' guards rushed at James, delaying him from chasing his father. The boy crouched as the man brought the bat to the side of his head. He quickly took out a pistol, immediately shooting at two mules, after which he took the bat from a half-dead guard. Miller caught up with the blond man, handing him a stereo headset in his ear for communication.

'Hold my father, Nick! Don't let him run away!' Shouted the young man, over the noise.

The brown-haired man nodded in obedience as he ran towards the house, stopping along the way to fend off Foster's men.

James hid the gun to save the ammo for a more important occasion, armed with a borrowed bat.

He attacked a man who was running towards him, brandishing an iron bat. Foster's man did not have time to react quickly, because of which he got hit in the jaw. From a strong blow to the teeth, he lost a couple, coughing them up with blood. The man struck at the legs, expecting the guy to fall off his feet, but everything turned out completely wrong. The blond man had managed to swing the bat in the air again before that moment, hitting his back with force. The loud crunch of the spine made it clear that for one fighter it was the end. The brunet fell to the ground with a groan.

James switched from one person to another, knocking out everyone. His strength was incredibly powerful, because inside he was incredibly evil and thirsted for revenge. He saw how his people died, and he did everything to prevent this from happening again. Foster Jr. put on a knife with a handle of brass knuckles, running up to his friend to help in the skirmish. Tyler was attacked by three, he needed help. James thrust the knife into the enemy's back with a running start, then with his right hand, hitting the neck with a bat.

Minus one.

The second man pounced on Jay, unexpectedly quickly stabbing the guy, the guy managed to jump back, but he was still hurt. The cut was along the arm, not reaching the elbow. Tyler knocked out two men as he approached the blond.

'Are you okay?' Tyler put his hand on his shoulder, squeezing lightly to get his attention.

'Damn, yes.'

'Sure?'

'He didn't cut that deep, it's all right.'

Tyler nodded, then ran to support his people.

James stuffed the knife into the special compartment on his suit, heading straight for the house to find Hailey, Nick, or his father.

It was easy to get through the gate, as it was opened so that Williams or his men could retreat in case of emergency. The guy ran into the yard, raising his head up, the house of his former family still stood, towering.

Here he was happy, and it was also here that his heart was broken.

He closed his eyes, then snapped them open to let the thoughts escape his head.

He didn't want to remember.

'James!' Miller called out to the blond, who suddenly appeared from the backyard.

'Where is he?' There was concern in his blue eyes.

'I didn't find him.'

Foster Jr. clenched his jaw in annoyance as he set out on his own in search of his father.

Maybe it's time for a surprise?

The guy ran towards the gazebo, thinking that maybe the man was there.

The wooden gazebo was surrounded by pink and white roses, which also rose up, enveloping her in their strong embrace.

Memories flooded back again.

'Honey, lunch is ready!' Said a young girl, carrying a baked duck stuffed with apples and pears in her hands.

Williams looked up, looking up from playing with his young son. There was a smile on his face, and his crystal blue eyes blended perfectly with today's sky.

'It smells incredibly delicious,' the young man praised, rising to kiss his beloved woman.

They were young, beautiful and happy.

'Jay, did you wash your hands before eating?' His mother asked, leaning down slightly to be at the same distance as her son.

'Yes, mom,' said the blue-eyed boy with a snow-white smile. 'dad warned me about it.'

'Then to the table, little man.'

Foster pushed the chair back so his wife could sit down, then pulled it back up to the table.

When everyone was in their places, the family wished each other bon appetit and began to eat.

'James, be careful!' His father warned, immediately setting aside the hot tea, which the boy almost turned over as he reached for the salad.

'James!' Called the young man.

The boy narrowed his brows, blinking his eyes, it was no longer his memory.

'James!'

The blond turned at the scream, noticing Foster. He stood near the shed that was near the house.

James didn't find him, he found the guy.

'Where's Hailey?!' Asked Foster Jr., slowly pulling a pistol from his pocket. 'Stop running, father!'

The man grinned, his blue eyes shining.

'How many years have passed since you called me father again.'

'Shut up, where is she?'

James stayed where he was, immediately pointing the muzzle of his gun at Williams.

'Naive, boy. Do you want to shoot me? Then my blood will spill with me,' the brown-haired man nodded his head, looking back.

The boy turned around to see another guard pointing his weapon at him.

The young man clenched his jaw, shooting an angry glare at Williams.

He did not lower his hand, still continuing to hold him at gunpoint.

'You seem to want to see my surprise. It's time for it.'

The brown-haired man opened the door to the barn, digging into it at the entrance. James narrowed his brows as he moved closer to the building, feeling in his back that the guard was close behind him.

'Oh, I found it. It's just lay in my pocket,' the man left the room, stretching his hand forward so that the guy could see what he was holding.

A nasty grin painted his face, he was pleased with himself, because now he will break his son into small pieces.

'What are you gonna do?' The blond man asked cautiously, narrowing his eyebrows.

'Mr. Foster, everything is ready!'

Jay turned his head towards the sound as a picture of what was happening began to emerge in his head.

Four men with empty kerosene cans literally appeared out of nowhere. Williams held a lighter in his hand, his eyes never leaving his son's face.

The young man opened his mouth in amazement, losing himself for a second. He could not believe what was happening, because his father would not destroy the house of his once happy family that he had?

The young man blinked out of his trance when he realized Nick was right.

'Either you kill him or he kills you. Take your pick.'

'You wouldn't dare.'
