There was a rare silence in the spacious café.
Scarlette Rowling had her head lowered as she nervously stirred the cup of coffee in front of her.
The atmosphere was awkward.
"Is this your first time on a blind date?"
Half a minute after the man had sat down, he asked her in a flat and toneless voice.
His aura was overbearing. Just a simple question from him made Scarlette feel even more nervous.
It was the first time in her life that she had gone on a blind date. Under her mother's relentless coercion, she had reluctantly come to the café as appointed and settled down in the reserved seat.
She had initially thought that she would just have to go through a formality. Unexpectedly, the man who was seated opposite her was the director of Yeager Group, Marcellus Yeager.
He was the biggest shot in Julesburg, who could greatly influence the economy of the city!
The most terrible thing was that Scarlette was working in Yeager Group. She was a mere clerk in the administrative department.
A big shot like Marcellus naturally wouldn't recognize her, but it was too difficult for Scarlette to pretend that she didn't know him.
Thus, she was so anxious that she couldn't help stammering, "Yes, i-it's my first time..."
Marcellus looked up and down at Scarlette with his cold gaze, sizing her up as he continued inquiring, "Have you graduated from university?"
"Yes." Scarlette swallowed her saliva subconsciously and added, "It has been two years since I graduated."
Upon hearing her answer, Marcellus went silent. His finely-sculptured face was devoid of emotions, appearing calm.
However, Scarlette's heart was quivering uneasily. On one hand, she wondered how hard her mother prayed in order to match her with such a man on a blind date. On the other hand, she was doubting if Marcellus had sat in the wrong seat.
Or did she mistakenly sit at the wrong table?
At this thought, she glanced at the number on the table from the corner of her eyes. It was indeed No. 18.
Scarlette plucked up her courage and questioned, "Um... Excuse me, but have you gotten the wrong seat?"
"Have you brought your driving license for marriage registration along?" Marcellus asked.
Both of them had opened their mouths at the same time and stopped abruptly together as well.
Scarlette raised her head in shock as she heard his words.
Marcellus's perfectly handsome face was very close to hers, making Scarlette's face flush red immediately and her mind went blank.
His stunning and flawless face was even more good-looking than that of the hottest male celebrities. However, since he was a businessman, he exuded an overbearing aura that made others keep their distance from him.
As for Scarlette, she had joined Yeager Group during her internship and then continued working there for two years.
In the past two years, she had rarely crossed paths with Marcellus. Even if she had seen him, it would be from a distance. Now that he was right in front of her, it felt more surreal than her dreams.
"Do you have any other questions?" Marcellus peered at Scarlette's blushing cheeks, and the coldness in his eyes faded slightly.
Scarlette shook her head in response. How could she have any questions or doubts about her own boss?
Just then, Marcellus's cell phone rang and he answered the call. After a short moment of silence, he replied bluntly, "I got it."
He hung up the phone after that and glanced at Scarlette. "Let's go."
Marcellus stood up from his seat. Exactly like his speech and way of doing things, his movements were fast and efficient.
Scarlette seemed to have been bewitched by him as she stood up compliantly and followed him out of the cafe without a word.
Marcellus was around 1. 9 meters tall while Scarlette, who was walking behind him, was around 1. 7 meters tall. When they walked next to each other, she looked very petite and lovely.
Scarlette followed him and got into a car. The vehicle was a black business-style Maybach which he usually drove.
Despite the comfortable cushion of the luxurious car, Scarlette felt as though she was sitting on pins and needles. Feeling unsettled, she fidgeted her fingers and asked herself from time to time whether she was dreaming.
Marcellus observed each and every one of her tiny reactions.
"My family forced me to go on blind dates, but I don't want to waste my time on this. To be frank, you're quite good-looking and pleasing to the eye. There should be no problem for us to get married."
In the quiet car, Marcellus suddenly spoke.
His magnetic voice rang in Scarlette's ears.
Scarlette looked at Marcellus in shock. Although she was on a blind date with him, it didn't seem to her that they were ready to get married.
"Um... Don't you think we should take some time to consider it? It seems that we aren't familiar with..."
"There's no need to consider." He interrupted her without letting her finish her sentence. An air of indifference emanated from him as he added in an incredibly pressurizing tone, "Be my wife, and I will give you everything you wish for."
Scarlette didn't know that, before they met, Marcellus had already known everything about her.
