STACY IN DANGER
STACY
Ever since I removed the poison out of Rose, I've been feeling unwell. I don't mind the pain, but the one I'm worried about the most is my unborn child.
I'm not feeling well...not at all.
Whenever I heal someone, I can lightly feel a part of their pain, but feeling this poison, it's terrible....quite terrible! No wonder it kept Rose sleeping for two weeks.
My heart is beating fast as I concentrate on the heartbeat beating inside me. It's weak and my heart is starting to break.
No, no. Hold on, baby. I'm so sorry, I didn't think it would hurt you too.
I try talking to my baby, I try to take away the pain, but it's quite hard. This is, in a way, a repercussion whenever I heal someone and there is nothing I can do about it.
The heartbeat is weakening by every passing moment.
“No, no, no. Stay with me.” I clutch my stomach tighter and close my eyes tighter to concentrate on easing the pain away from my child. I can feel my tears forming and dropping.
Please, don't take him away from me!
Please!
And I finally drift into painful unconsciousness!

*MAURICE'S POV*
“From my observation, it seems that the warriors will all be coming from the strongest Packs of different cardinal territories. Wendy came from Dark Woods of the South, Venus from Western of the west and Vera from the East. Now, the fourth warrior Ephy will for sure come from the strongest Pack of the South.” Bruno states in length.
Joseph and I nod in agreement.
“Yes, I've already spoken with Moses. He's on his way here and he should arrive tomorrow.” I confirm. I'm also good friends with Moses and so I'm able to get him to come right away.
“What should we do about the Council?” Joseph asks
I sigh and throw a dart at the dart board behind Joseph's office door....Bull's eye.
“Stacy keeps on telling me that she doesn't trust the Council. She says that she feels they have something to do with the stray wolves.” I admit.
Joseph looks up as he drinks from his coffee while Bruno stops scribbling at a notepad which supposedly contains plans of what we will do next.
“Stacy too? Sherry never trusted the Council ever since we were kids. I remember she played a nasty prank on one of the elders back then.” Joseph laughs at the memory which earns a squint from Sherry's mate, Bruno. I can't hold myself back therefore I laugh along.
“So, we move without the Council, we move in secret. I don't think Moses will object to that anyways since he and his whole Pack are still angry at them.” Bruno says and I nod.
Suddenly, something happens to me. It's like a punch in the gut, a heavy blow at that. I feel like I've lost my breath for a while and all strength has left me.
I blink hard and look at my two companions to see if they've noticed.
My heart drops when I suddenly think of Stacy. A sudden foreboding feeling creeps in, heavy and foreshadowing.
“The heck Maurice, what are you doing?” Bruno asks grumpily. Instead of replying, I stand up and head for the door.
My breathing is getting heavy and I can't shake off the feeling of impending doom that looms in my chest. The mate bond urges me to go to Stacy, something must've happened. But I don't feel any pain, but I can feel a strain.
My chest is starting to ache, like little needles pinching my heart. What is this?
'Stacy honey, where are you?' I ask through the mind link. I wait for an answer and each moment that goes by without an answer confirms my suspicions and intuitions.
“Where are you going?” Joseph asks from behind but I have already started running to wherever Stacy is. At this point, my heart is beating loud and hard.
'Please tell me you're okay.' I plead.
No answer.
Damn it!
I follow the bond and thankfully, it leads to the guest bedroom. I almost break the door open, but I spot her on the ground, sobbing and going hysterical. She's screaming and she seems like she's in deep anguish. Seeing her that way, my heart crushes and it tightens all at once.
Sherry is right beside her and her face is full of worry as she tries to calm her down.
I run beside my mate and hold her.
“Stacy, what happened?!” I ask, holding her by both sides of her arm, shaking her a bit. When her eyes meet mine, I see her glowing grey eyes and an added strand of her dark brown hair is now silver.
She is in her warrior state, but why?
Stacy is saying something, but I can't understand her. She holds me back tightly and her tears are dropping profusely from her glowing eyes.
What is going on? What's happening?
“Maurice... I can't-- I can't hear him.” She struggles to say through her sobs as Sherry rubs her back.
“Calm down, Stacy, you need to calm down so I can help you.” Sherry says. Stacy, this time, turns towards her.
I'm still very much confused as to what is going on, but then I see Stacy clinging onto her stomach for her dear life. My breathing gets heavier and heavier and a light bulb lights in my head, but I deny it.
There's no way. She would've told me!
But then, my wolf growls inside me, anger stirring up at the sight of our mate at an uncontrollable and painful state. He's showing through the surface and I have no right to suppress him now. He's damn worried as well!
“Sh--Sherry, p-p-please, I can't h-hear him.” She says again in between her sobs. She even shakes Sherry, desperately pleading her for help.
“Sherry, what's going on?” I ask looking towards the girl. She nibbles with her lip, clearly unsure of what to do or say. She switches looks from me to Stacy, silently asking her for permission. But it's of no use.
Stacy isn't thinking straight.
“Stacy is pregnant!”
What the fuck did she just say? Did I just hear that right? Oh goddess!
I suddenly feel like a bucket of cold water has been poured over my head. I feel lightheaded for a while as I process the revelation.
My knees drop beside Stacy who is still crying and I hold her again, shaking her lightly.
“Breathe, Stacy, breathe.” I urge her slowly. She nods and starts taking slow deep breaths, but her tears still fall. There is no stopping them.
I'm also breaking inside...the information is too heavy. I want to be happy, but seeing her like this, I know there must be something wrong.
She is still sobbing, but she isn't gasping for air anymore. “Maurice, our baby... I can't hear his heartbeat.” She manages to say without stuttering and then her tears start pouring again.
It's like my heart shatters into a million pieces, like another bucket of cold water dousing me. I freeze when she says that. I don't know what to say, I don't know what to do.
My mind goes blank, a clean slate of solutions.
“Wha-what do you mean?" I ask, my voice barely getting out. When she keeps on sobbing, the pain that I feel too is getting too much to contain. “Stacy, what do you mean?! What happened?” I ask.
I feel like I can't breathe. It feels like I lost my dad all over again.
“Y-you two calm down. It's not too late yet, I can help you, Stacy, but you need to calm down first.” Sherry says, kneeling beside Stacy. Her eyes have turned silver and I immediately notice that she's also in her warrior state now.
I turn towards her, a glimmer of hope showing.
Vera, what are her powers again? If I remember right, she's the tactician among the warriors. But at the moment, I can't remember any of what her abilities might be.
I need to do something to help Stacy and our child, the next Alpha on the line.
“N-no. This is all my fault! I should've known!” Stacy starts screaming again and I can only hold her. I don't know what to do too because I'm equally in pain.
“It's not your fault, Stacy. You only did it to help Rose.” Sherry reminds her and starts to rub Stacy's back again, but she won't have any of that. She's still in denial, still blaming herself. She shakes Sherry's hand off and starts shaking her head.
“No, no, no! This is all my fault!” She says and turns to me. “Why can't I save the ones dear to me? Why do I keep failing? I thought it was enough, Maurice. I thought that my powers were enough to save our baby, I tried, I really did.”
I nod at her as unfamiliar tears trickle down my face. I face my mate, feeling helpless.
There's no way right?
I am the Alpha of one of the strongest Packs. I've defeated many other Packs who dared cross our path. I have the power and strength that I've always sought to protect not only my Pack but also those I hold dear. So, don't tell me I'm going to lose my child.
Don't tell me there's no way to save them, please!
“I'm sorry, you two, but I have to do this.” I hear Sherry say, her voice as dreamy as it can be and then everything turns black. Oh goddess! I can stand anything else in this world but losing my mate and my unborn baby is something I can't stand!
