The bathroom echoed with the sound of running water. A blush of anticipation and joy crept up Sharon's face as she pondered the imminent event.
Just then, her husband Alex Smith's phone rang. She instinctively glanced at it and saw a message from someone named Ava Kim.
Ava: [My new nightgown seems a bit tight. What do you think of this style?]
Below the text was a selfie of Ava wearing a deep V-neck red slip dress, her ample bosom half-exposed, exuding extreme seduction.
Sharon's grip on the phone tightened involuntarily. She scrolled up and saw that their previous exchanges were all normal work-related conversations, which made her frown.
Was it a mistake, or was Alex cheating on her?
A hand wrapped around her waist from behind, interrupting her thoughts.
Alex's warm body pressed against hers, and he gently nibbled on her earlobe. "Honey, I'm done showering. Do you want to do it on the couch or in bed?"
Before Sharon could respond, Alex scooped her up and laid her on the couch, his tall frame looming over her.
"Since you're not saying anything, I'll choose for you. Let's do it on the couch." Alex's voice was husky, and his eyes burned with desire as he looked into Sharon's eyes, making her blush instantly.
She was already beautiful, and her flushed cheeks under the light looked like ripe peaches, tempting to be picked.
Alex's eyes darkened even more. He lowered his head to kiss Sharon's lips, but she suddenly turned her head away.
Sensing her resistance, Alex looked down at her, confusion in his eyes. "Honey, what's wrong?"
Sharon thought about the explicit selfie she saw on Alex's phone earlier, feeling increasingly uneasy.
She pushed one hand against his chest and held the phone screen up to his face with the other. "Explain this first. What's going on?"
Alex glanced at it and immediately frowned deeply. He took the phone and dialed a number.
Soon, the call connected.
"Mr. Smith, what can I do for you?" Ava asked.
Alex's face was grim, and his voice was icy. "Ms. Kim, what do you mean by sending such photos?"
There was a few seconds of silence on the other line before Ava's slightly panicked voice came through. "Mr. Smith, I'm sorry. Those messages were meant for my boyfriend. I must have sent them to you by mistake."
"No more time, , or pack up and hit the road!" After hanging up, Alex looked at Sharon, his previously cold expression softening.
"Honey, she sent it by mistake. If you're still upset, I'll fire her tomorrow. It's late; don't waste time on someone who doesn't matter!" as he spoke, he grabbed her waist and kissed her.
Although the matter was explained, Sharon's mood was ruined, and she no longer felt like making love.
She pushed Alex away. "I'm a bit tired tonight. Let's continue tomorrow."
Alex looked disappointed but didn't force her. "Okay, then you go to sleep first. I'm not sleepy yet, so I'll go to the study to do some work."
"Alright." Sharon nodded.
In the middle of the night, it started raining heavily outside.
Sharon was woken up by the sound of rain. She reached out to touch the space beside her, but she found it cold.
She turned to check the time. It was 3:16 a.m..
Alex was still working.
Rising and donning a robe, Sharon ventured to the study. Upon opening the door, she was met with darkness; Alex was absent.
Her grip on the doorknob tightened, and her heart sank.
Her phone suddenly buzzed, the notification sound startlingly loud in the quiet night.
She opened her phone to see a friend request from Ava.Sharon had a gut feeling that if she accepted Ava's friend request, she and Alex would never go back to the way things were.
Just then, a clap of thunder outside startled Sharon, causing her to hit the decline button accidentally.
Soon, Ava sent several more friend requests.
Ava: [Are you still awake? Is it because your husband isn't by your side?]
Ava: [I'm scared because of the thunder and power outage, so he came over to comfort me.]
Ava: [Don't you want to know where your husband is right now?]
Seeing Ava's continuous friend requests and those provocative messages, Sharon's hand holding the phone trembled uncontrollably. Her ears buzzed, and she bit her lip, her eyes gradually reddening.
After much hesitation, she finally accepted the friend request. Immediately, Ava responded with an address and a series of numbers.
Sharon bit her lip, grabbed her car keys, and drove to the location.
By the time she reached the villa, it was past 4:00 a.m.. She entered the numbers Ava had sent, and the door unlocked. The living room lights were on, and men's suits and women's lingerie were scattered from the entrance to the bedroom door, indicating how urgent the two had been.
Seeing the torn red nightgown at the bedroom door, Sharon didn't feel angry but laughed instead. The absurd scene before her seemed to mock the ridiculousness of her marriage with Alex.
It was only about ten feet from the entrance to the bedroom, but Sharon felt like every step drained all her energy. By the time she reached the bedroom door, she felt dizzy and light-headed.
Sharon's hand trembled as she slowly pushed open the ajar door.
The messy bed, the naked couple entangled together, and their heavy breathing all formed a lewd scene that stabbed Sharon's eyes.
"Mr. Smith, aren't you afraid your wife will find out?" Ava giggled, occasionally kissing Alex passionately.
Alex toyed with her breasts, smirking, "Stolen pleasure is more thrilling, isn't it?"
"Sharon is great, but she's too reserved in bed, unlike you."
"Mr. Smith, I want more." Ava clung to him, urging him on.Alex quickened his movements, gripping her waist.
The two were so engrossed that they didn't notice Sharon standing at the door.
Sharon's hand gripping the door frame had veins bulging. Her fingers almost dug into the wood, and her nails bowed backward.
She had been with Alex for eight years, from college to marriage, a couple envied by their friends.
It was not until today that she had been betrayed by him, which had dealt her a harsh blow!
It turned out that no matter how perfect and sincere the wedding vows were, they couldn't withstand the fickleness of the human heart.
The entanglement in the bedroom continued, and a wave of nausea surged up. Sharon covered her face, tears welling up and sliding down her throat, bitter and astringent.
Finally, she could no longer bear it and took a step forward, ready to rush into the bedroom!
