Chapter 19
Chapter 19
Alpha Adam stared at the door. What had just happened?
"Stop!"
He commanded, pushing Eva away from his body.
"Did you suddenly lose interest in me because of that bitch? We were having a great time together."
"How dare you call her that?"
Alpha Adam said with anger, as he slammed her against the wall, which caused a hiss to escape her lips.
"You do not call her that."
Alpha Adam repeated, but this wasn't him, this was his wolf speaking, and his wolf was both angry with him and his mistress.
"You said you would never allow her to be part of your life, that you had married her because you wanted to buy the company, but you seem to be falling for her."
Eva yelled, unable to believe what was happening. How quickly had Alpha Adam changed his heart?
"Has she poisoned your heart, Alpha Adam?"
She attempted to stroke his head, but she shouldn't have done that because he pinned her hands above her head, his eyes flickering between green and black.
"You are so disgusting, and never call her a bitch again. She is your Luna. I never want to see you again."
Alpha Adam said, pushing her away. Eva stared at him, anger clearly written on her face, and she walked out of his office. She would have her revenge; Alpha Adam would have no choice but to beg for her mercy.
Aurora walked toward the mirror and stared at herself. She hated it here; she missed her pack, and there were no friends except for Lina and Selene.
Suddenly, something caught her attention. She looked at her arm and saw a mark she had never seen before: the symbol of the moon was boldly drawn on her arm.
"What are you?"
She whispered, touching her arm.
"I don't know, but I think we are special,"
Phoenix whispered in her head.
Aurora shook her head slowly; she wasn't used to having her wolf around ever since she left her to suffer alone when Robert had rejected her.
"You don't just come back into my life as if nothing happened. You left me all alone to heal from rejection. You left me when I needed you most, and I hate you even more than I hate Robert."
Aurora said, still staring at the mark on her arms.
"I never left you,"
Phoenix replied.
"The goddess took me away from you, she made me unable to be immune to you."
"Why? Why would the goddess take you away from me?"
Aurora asked. A lot of strange things had been happening to her lately, one of which involved her husband having his honeymoon with his whore. Was she supposed to be angry? Jealous? Yet she was both.
"Because we are going to face many battles together, but not alone. The goddess took me to reveal what we are truly meant for."
"So, do we have a purpose? I thought we were meant to suffer a horrible life."
Aurora asked, and Phoenix laughed in her head.
"We're meant to serve a purpose, but everything will be revealed in time. And by the way, I hate that Eva girl,"
Phoenix said. "I feel like gouging her eyes out, but we have to deal with the mark on your arm. What is that?"
"I don't know, but I think I know whom to ask," Aurora said, rushing out of the room.
"Where are you heading?" Phoenix inquired.
"To see someone. I've got a lot of questions," Aurora replied, her pace quickening.
Aurora jerked her head swiftly when she saw a figure approaching. It was Alpha Adam, looking distressed and weary. Quickly, she hid herself behind one of the pillars.
"I hate him," Aurora muttered.
"Why? You don't have to hate him. I actually feel for him, and I don't know why, but he's suffered a lot," Phoenix responded with a tinge of sadness.
"Why do you feel sad for someone like him? He doesn't deserve our sympathy. Plus, I haven't forgiven you for leaving me to suffer all alone," Aurora countered, leaving the pillar and hurrying towards the library.
"I told you, when the right time comes, you will understand. But please, don't let anyone know you've found your wolf again. No one must realize that your wolf is back. I'm trying to protect you here," Phoenix explained with a sigh, tired of the arguments.
"Protect me from what?" Aurora asked, now stopping at the door to the library.
"From anyone finding out who we are. You don't trust people easily, do you, Aurora?"
"No, I can't," Aurora admitted, then she swiftly opened the door and stepped inside the library.
She looked around; there was no one there except the guards.
"He's not here," Aurora whispered, her eyes scanning the shelves of books.
"That's good," replied Phoenix.
"Keep quiet, or I'll block you from my mind," Aurora threatened.
"You can't. You've already missed me a lot, plus you need me right now."
"Yes, I need you right now, but I can..."
"Luna, you're here," a voice interrupted, snapping her out of her internal argument with Phoenix. She turned to see who had spoken.
"Eliza!" she exclaimed.
"I've been expecting your visit, since I knew you'd be looking for answers," Eliza said, his eyes locked onto her with a penetrating gaze.
Aurora's breath caught in her throat as she took in the tall, black-hooded figure before her. His eyes glittered like obsidian.
"Umm, yes. I... absolutely," Aurora stammered, confusion evident in her voice.
"Don't tell him anything, Aurora. No one can be trusted," Phoenix warned silently.
"Shut up," Aurora mind-linked her wolf, keeping her attention on Eliza.
"This book," Eliza began, holding out an ancient tome, "was written by Staghosros, a famous witch who had several revelations about someone who can either destroy or change this world. But he was killed before he could reveal who she was."
Eliza opened the book to a page and continued, "And no prophecy was mentioned about her. How will we figure out who she is?"
"There's a page here, the last page, actually," Eliza answered, his finger pointing to the text.
"And what does it say?" Aurora asked, her curiosity piqued.
"You read it," Eliza prompted, handing the book over to her.
Aurora took the book hesitantly and read aloud, "She is beautiful and strong, destroyed mentally..."
"This defines us," Phoenix whispered in her head.
"She is the moon summoner and she shall bear the mark of the moon on her arms," Aurora whispered, a chill running down her spine as she made the connection to the mark she had just discovered.
Her voice faltered at the last sentence, disbelief and fear intermingling within her. Could she be the one the prophecy spoke of?
"What is it, little one?" Eliza asked, noting the change in Aurora's demeanor.
She shook her head quickly, dismissing his question. "I have to leave, Eliza. I need some time to think."
Without waiting for a response, Aurora closed the book and handed it back to Eliza. She turned on her heels and hurried out of the library, her mind racing with the implications of the prophecy and the mark on her arm.
As she moved swiftly through the corridors, trying to put distance between herself and the library, Phoenix's voice echoed in her mind. "We need to be careful, Aurora. If this prophecy is about us, we could be in great danger. Others may seek to control or harm us because of it."
Aurora knew Phoenix was right. She needed to be cautious about whom she trusted and how much she revealed. With the weight of this new knowledge, she felt more isolated than ever, but also more determined to uncover the truth about her destiny and the role she was meant to play.
"I understand, Phoenix," Aurora replied mentally to her wolf. "We'll figure this out together. But for now, let's keep this between us."
As Aurora disappeared down the hallway, her silhouette was swallowed by the shadows, a sign of the uncertain path that lay ahead, filled with secrets and potential dangers.
