Chapter 27

Anabel's POV.

I wasn't dreaming or hallucinating; it was really Jasper.

“Noooooooo!” I heard him scream as he sprinted toward me.

With his sharp paws, he cut down the ropes and I fell into in his hands. His soft hand caressed my face as tears streamed down his eyes.

“It's..... Fine.” I stuttered. “I… Love… You.”

Those were my last words.

Jasper's POV.

“Noooooooo!” I screamed out while holding her body closely to my heart.

The crowd kept staring at me as I mourned my love.

“Anabel! Please, wake up.” Tears clouded my eyes as I tried to jerk her back to live. “You are not allowed to die without my permission!” I yelled as I burst out in uncontrollably tears.

“Did you forget so soon?”

I tried all I could do, but she was dead. Gone to the after world to rest. By the time I laid her corpse down, I was surrounded by guards. Slowly and sniffing occasionally, I rose to my feet and glared through the guards and settled it on Kaye.

“I'll make you pay for this.” I cussed with my finger pointed at Kaye.

Before I could punch on him, the guards caught me and tied me up.

Murmurs of doubt filled the air, and I could see Kaye rise to his feet through the corner of my eyes.

I gnashed my teeth as the guards forced me to go on my knees, I wished I could kill him at the moment.

“The traitor had come back.” He said, his voice was firm, and steady, as if I meant nothing to him.

Of course, I was never his friend; I was the one who considered him to be a friend, and that was the worst decision I would ever make.

“Unfortunately, he came too late. He was unable to save the life of his ally. But that doesn't make him a free man, right?”

The crown roared in agreement, “Yes!” They said as their hands flung in the air.

“His prosecution would be scheduled for tomorrow. Take him away.” Kaye added and walked away without him taking a second glance at me.

As the guards dragged me through the crowd, Anita stopped them; she had been away on a business trip for a while to take, so she had no idea what had happened so far.

“What is going on? Why are you dragging Jasper this way?” She inquired.

“Stay out of this, Anita. I've lost a lot in this. You, staying out of this, is the best way you can help me now.” I said, and the guards took me away.

But I was quick to connect with Anita through the mind link.

“Only the mafia bosses I brought the other time can help me.”

“I'll set off immediately.” She responded, and I could feel her wolf trembling.

“No. That is too dangerous. Check my bag for their information and contact them through it. You have to be in the mansion while they come save me. Stay within Kaye's reach, preferably. So, they don't have to suspect you are involved.”

“Okay, babe. I will.”

The mind link ended, and I was locked up in prison.

Anita's POV

I dashed into the mansion, there was a room for Jasper in case he could not go home or wanted to sleep in the mansion. Looking left and right to make sure there was nobody watching me, I grabbed the knob and walked into the room.

I locked it from behind, walked further into the room and scanned it with my eyes, but I was unable to see the bag anymore. I rushed to his closet, pulled its door and saw the bag.

A sigh of relief escaped my lips as I stood there for some seconds. I grabbed the bag, emptied its content on the bed and found the information I needed.

With trembling hands, I copied their numbers on my phone. I arranged the room back to how it was before I came in and exited the room.

I walked into my room, called the number and a man picked immediately, as if he was waiting for my call.

“Hello. Is this Holm?” I asked with tremble lips.

“Yes, how may I help you?”

“It's Jasper! He had been captured and would be prosecuted tomorrow. Please, we need your help.” I broke down in tears as I pleaded with him.

“Sure, I'll be there soon.” He said and ended the call.

I sniffed in the tears, wiped the ones that rolled down my cheek, and walked into the bathroom. I sank myself in the bathtub, while thinking about Jasper; I can't even go to see him.

And this makes me sick worry. But I have to stick to his plans.

I got out of the tub, washed myself and walked into the room. A towel was wrapped to my chest and I patted my wet hair with the tip of the towel.

After dressing up, I stood in front of the mirror, took a deep breath as I stared at my reflection, hoping it was going to be my muse. And it worked.

I stepped out of the room, headed to Alpha Kaye's room and luckily for me, I found him about to eat in the dining.

“May I join you, Alpha?” I bowed in respect.

“Please, have your seat.” He said, not sparing me a glance.

I pulled out a seat and sat down. We were both served, and he was about to eat when I grabbed his arm with my eyes pleading.

“Please, Alpha Kaye. I know Jasper too well. He probably didn't do any of the things he was accused of.” My voice was shaky.

He slightly wriggled his arm out of my grip and took my hands in his while he stared deep into my eyes.

“I'm sorry things have to turn out this way, Alicia, but my hands are tied. I saw him murder Mrs. Brown.”

“What if he was set up?”

“Who would want to do that to him?”

“Probably someone who wants him out of the way.”

He paused a while as he took in what I said.

“That may be true. I'll do something about it tomorrow.”

Excitement filled my heart and I texted Holm to abort the mission to save Jasper.
