Chapter 28
Alpha Kaye's POV
I don't understand why I feel this way, but it is weird and it kind of makes me doubt myself of my relationship with Jasper. If I ever loved him as a friend or just as a faithful Beta that he was before.
“Using Jasper as a bait for his mastermind would be a great idea. I'll make sure he pays even after death for making me kill the woman I love.” I cussed in my thoughts.
After eating, I retreated to my room.
Anita's POV.
I was in my room, pacing, and couldn't wink because I'm still yet to get a reply from Holm. My eyes fell on my phone which was on the bedside table, I was about to look away when it beeped, and I sprinted through the short journey.
It was a message from Holm to tell me they've already rescued Jasper before they got my message.
“I'm sorry, Anita, but that won't be possible. We've gotten Jasper out of the Pack. Thanks for informing us.” The message reads.
I knew this was a lie, but why would they lie to me?
“What could be going on?” I thought as I clenched my fist around the phone.
“Everything would be sorted out tomorrow.”
I dropped my phone on the bedside table and laid to sleep.
The next morning, the sun had hanged high in the sky when I woke up.
“Shit!” I cussed and sprang out of bed.
The prosecution process and how the Pack would react when they find out that Jasper had escaped from prison was all that occupied my mind. I got dressed hastily and stepped out of the room.
As I got to the living room, I saw Alpha Kaye walking down the stairs.
“Good morning, Alpha Kaye.” I said as I bowed to show my respect to him.
He ignored me and retreated from the house, and I followed him.
The square ground was filled with people ready to watch the prosecution of Jasper, and I stood among them.
While the guards went to get Jasper, Alpha Kaye stood up to address the Pack.
“Good morning, Reed Moon pack. It's indeed a good morning for us because today, we will lure Jasper to bring us his boss. The ally who he together wants to bring this pack to the ground.” He said, with his eyes scanning through the crowd, and it settled on me.
“Thanks to one of our faithful pack members......” He pointed at me. “…. Who made me realize some things last night. She showed me how to end this war that is yet to start and win it.”
I had no idea how to feel; happy or sad. I felt a tickle in my tummy to know that Jasper had escape. While anger and sadness clouded the other part of me as I thought of how Alpha Kaye had betrayed me; wanting to use Jasper as a bait for the enemy of the pack.
Soon, that guards returned without Jasper.
“Where's Jasper?” I cried out first to lay low any suspicions about me.
“We couldn't find him in the prison, Alpha.” One replied.
“What do you mean you can't find him? Did he escape again? Is that what you mean to tell me?” Alpha Kaye roared with his face red.
“Again?” I mumbled, confused, and his eyes fell on me.
They were like piercing red: in the form of fire, as he stared at me.
“He once escaped from prison. Find him.” He yelled at the guards.
Panic filled the air and I played along well until Mrs. Brown came into the picture. She stood up to her feet, with her gaze fixed on her, she said to Alpha Kaye, “There's nobody to help him escape this time...... Except for one person.” She paused and looked at Alpha Kaye.
“Anita, of course.” She snapped and glared at me. “She is the only one that can help him escape.” She continued.
My heart skipped several beats by mere looking at her. I know she can be a pain in the ass sometimes, but I wasn't expecting it to be a time like this.
“That is not true. Anita was with me all through, and I even had some guards to watch her without her notice. No single call was eavesdropped from her room last night.” Alpha Kaye stood up for me and left the scene.
I also retreated to my room.
Jasper's POV.
“I can't thank you two enough. Thank you for saving my ass again.” I said in a faint voice.
“How dare you, Jasper?” Willy snapped out of anger.
This is the first time I'm seeing his this way.
“How dare you risk your life like that. You saw that Anabel was slain, the beat thing was for you to come back. Not to reveal yourself.”
“You could have lost your life in the process, that's what he's trying to say.” Holm buttressed his point.
“I know, and I'm sorry. It would never happen again.”
“You better see to that.” Willy said.
“How about Olivia? Were you able to get anything for me?” Curiosity answered revenge clouded my voice.
“Yes.” Holm said. “I was able to find out about her whereabouts. We'll go get her whenever you're ready.”
Taking a minute to remember Anabel's love for me and Kaye's betrayal, I let out a deep, emotional huff.
“We'll go for her tomorrow.” My gaze met with theirs.
“It's going to be fine, boy.” Willy tried to console me with a pat on my shoulder, but I shrugged it off.
“No, Willy. You won't understand. He didn't even allow her to love me before he took her life. Now, his darling child would pay for his crimes.”
“And we are always here to help you make your evil dreams come through.”
Holm grinned!
