Chapter 158 Teaching Oliver a Lesson
"Surprised to see me?" Alice smirked.
Oliver tried to grab her ankle, but Alice stomped on his hand, making him spit out blood.
"Oliver, you really are inhumane. You had Ophelia kidnapped. If I hadn't shown up in time, she would've been assaulted."
"I don't know what you're talking about!" Oliver denied it. "You're framing me! You just want to get revenge!"
"You've been plotting against me over and over. Do you really think I'm unaware?" Alice glared at him. "Remember what happened on Azure Isle?"
Oliver's eyes narrowed. "I don't understand."
"Don't understand or just playing dumb?" Alice kicked him in the ribs, making him break out in a cold sweat.
Oliver remarked, "You venomous woman."
"Thanks for the compliment." Alice grabbed him by the collar and dragged him into the living room.
Oliver was stung by the light and hastily covered his eyes with his hand. When he removed it, he saw not only Alice before him, but also Henry and Percival seated on the sofa.
Oliver whined, "Henry, Alice struck me, causing my ribs to break and my internal organs to be injured. I even spat blood."
Henry sneered, "You're not dead yet, are you? Still talking fine. Seems like she went easy on you."
He stood up, took off his suit jacket, and tossed it on the sofa. Then he twisted his neck and cracked his knuckles with purposeful intent.
Oliver looked scared as Henry approached. "Henry, the truth isn't clear. Alice is framing me! You need to see right from wrong. You can't just believe her because she's your girlfriend. She has a grudge against me."
Henry laughed. "You're hopeless."
With one punch, Oliver clutched his nose in pain.
Henry snapped, "This punch is for Ophelia!"
"This punch is for plotting against Alice!"
"This punch is for your reckless talk at the press conference!"
"This punch is for disappointing your parents!"
"This punch is for disgracing the Howard family!"
After a while, Henry stopped and looked down at Oliver, who lay on the ground in a disheveled state. He then adjusted his tie.
Alice noticed the blood on his hand and quickly approached. "Are you hurt?"
"No, it's all his blood." Henry shook his hand.
Percival handed over some wet wipes. "Use these first, but save some for me. I promised to avenge Ophelia."
Henry took the wipes. "Leave him alive."
"Don't worry; he won't die, but he'll remember this lesson!" Percival licked his molars and walked over to Oliver. "Ophelia could never have fathomed it was you. She must be devastated."
He gazed down at the barely conscious Oliver, whose face was now unrecognizable, then he kicked Oliver's thigh and calf.
Oliver could only manage a few curses before his voice weakened.
At that moment, Ophelia appeared at the door.
"What are you doing?" Ophelia walked over with red-rimmed eyes.
Percival stopped and looked at her.
It was clear she had realized why they were there.
She looked at the barely breathing Oliver on the ground and bit her lip. "So the mastermind behind my kidnapping was Oliver?"
Hearing Ophelia's voice, Oliver struggled to open his swollen eyes, glanced at her, and then closed them again.
It was unclear whether he truly lacked the strength to open them or was simply ashamed.
Ophelia covered her mouth, eyes wide with disbelief. "Oliver, I thought you were just a jerk, but I never expect you to be so inhumane. I'm your sister, and you had me kidnapped. Do you know I was almost humiliated?"
Oliver pressed his lips together. "I'm sorry. I didn't think they'd go that far."
"Who were those people? How could you not have known?" Ophelia's voice shook with anger, but Oliver stayed silent.
Percival put an arm around her shoulders. "Don't cry."
Ophelia hugged him tightly. "Percival."
"Don't worry; I have already avenged you." Percival gently stroked her hair.
Ophelia looked at Henry, tears streaming down her face. "Henry, I don't want to pursue this further. I just don't want to see him again."
Henry glanced at Oliver, who was still on the ground. "We didn't expose you; that's our final mercy. Oliver, don't try anything else. Next time, we'll be enemies." With that, he took Alice's hand and left.
Percival followed, leading Ophelia away.
Oliver let out a heavy breath. He shifted from lying on his side to lying on his back, staring at the crystal chandelier above. He closed his eyes, his entire body aching.
The servants, who had been hiding, came out to check on him. "Should we call the police?"
Oliver opened his eyes and looked painfully at the maid who spoke. "No, call Beau."
"Okay." The maid helped him to the sofa and then went to call the family doctor.
Meanwhile, Henry drove Alice and Ophelia away, parting ways with Percival.
Henry glanced at them in the back seat, his expression tinged with displeasure.
Ophelia was emotionally unstable, and Alice, worried about her, decided to take her back to Bluewater Bay.
Once home, Alice handed Ophelia a new set of pajamas and led her to take a bath.
She then took her own pillow and blanket out of the bedroom.
Henry noticed. "What's going on?"
"Ophelia is scared. I'll sleep with her in the guest room." Alice paused her steps.
"What about me?" Henry pouted.
"It's three in the morning. I'll be with you tomorrow night." She spoke as she walked out.
Henry felt neglected as he watched Alice walk into the guest room with her pillow and blanket.
He followed her and, while Ophelia was still in the bathroom, demanded a kiss before he left.
Henry returned to the bedroom, took a shower, dried his hair, and glanced at the closed door of the guest room.
He sighed lightly before lying down to sleep.
In the guest room, Alice came out of the bathroom to find Ophelia already asleep in bed.
She thought for a moment and decided to check on Henry.
As soon as she opened the door, she saw Henry standing by the living room's floor-to-ceiling window.
She walked over to speak to him but noticed he was staring straight ahead. Alice realized he was sleepwalking again.
She didn't dare disturb him and instead moved the new furniture in the living room out of his way. Sleepwalkers, though their eyes were open, didn't process what they saw through their brain's center. They acted based on familiar environments and habits, performing subconscious sleepwalking actions.
After about twenty minutes, Henry returned to the bedroom.
Alice felt a pang of sadness. She had never studied psychology, but she knew that Henry's behavior was very abnormal.
Could the incident with Rhea's suicide at the banquet affect Henry?
It shouldn't have. Henry had experienced far more horrific scenes. What was really going on?
Alice sat on the sofa, covering her face with her hands helplessly.
After a long while, she picked up her phone and dialed a number.
