Chapter 157: You Were My Girlfriend

Alice cleared her throat, "First off, that night on Azure Isle, Clara had someone slip me an aphrodisiac, trying to humiliate me. Oliver had a similar plan, but he wanted to do it himself. Luckily, I have become privy to their scheme in advance."

Henry's face darkened as he listened.

He pulled the car over, grabbed a cigarette, and lit it.

Alice went on, "I found out the guy Clara hired was bisexual, so I made a deal with him. I took the antidote beforehand, pretended to be taken away by him. Then we encountered Oliver in the elevator, and he coerced me to accompany him, to which I feigned compliance. Upon reaching Oliver's room, I incapacitated him. Subsequently, the man came over and had a one-night stand with him."

Henry looked at her, "What about Clara?"

Alice coughed lightly, "Even though I have a record, the incense in your room wasn't from me. Clara did it because Oliver dumped her, so she targeted you. Are you pissed?"

"Yeah." Henry took a deep drag on his cigarette.

Alice gently tugged on his sleeve, "Can you not be mad?"

"No." Henry stubbed out the cigarette in the ashtray.

He turned to look at Alice, "Why didn't you tell me then? Do you know what could've happened if something went wrong?"

"Is that what you're mad about?" Alice's eyes lit up.

"Of course." Henry answered immediately.

"I thought you were mad because I set up Oliver." Alice chuckled.

"He set up my girlfriend, and why should I care about him?" Henry raised an eyebrow.

Alice smiled, "I wasn't your girlfriend back then."

"But at that moment, I felt certain you would become my girlfriend, becauseyou had to take responsibility for my hand."

Alice remembered the time she drugged herself with an aphrodisiac, and Henry helped her with his hand.

She arched an eyebrow, "Back then, I said I'd take responsibility for your hand, and you were so cold."

"I was being insincere." Henry cupped her face with both hands, "I can't bear to see you hurt, you know?"

Alice nodded, "I know. Now I have the confidence to tell you the second thing."

Henry had a feeling she had another big revelation, "Go ahead."

She held up two fingers, "A few days ago, I had Calvin dress up as a woman to seduce Oliver."

Henry looked slightly surprised, "Calvin has that hobby?"

Alice burst out laughing, "You mean cross-dressing or liking men?"

"The second one." Henry pretended to place his hands in front of his chest in a defensive stance.

Alice covered her mouth, laughing, "He just likes women's clothes."

Henry was curious, "So what happened later?"

"Oliver was thrown into a gay bar and became the one-night stand of four burly men."

"You are not joking?" Henry frowned.

"It's a bit much; he's probably ruined." Alice chuckled dryly.

"Forty would be better." Henry leaned back.

Alice couldn't help but laugh, "Is Oliver really your nephew?"

Henry said calmly, "As long as he's sane."

Alice pressed her fingertips against Henry's thin lips, "You are so sharp-tongued, but I like it."

"How do you prove you like it?"

Alice cupped Henry's handsome face and kissed him.

Henry's kissing skills had become more refined, and soon Alice was leaning softly against his chest. He whispered in her ear, "Shall we go home? Let's go now."

"No." Alice said softly, "We need to go to the police station to give a statement, and then we need to settle things with your nephew Oliver."

Henry stared at her tempting lips, "Then we'll head home later."

Alice noticed Henry had been sleeping well lately, no more sleepwalking. Maybe she had been overthinking things.

At 11:30 PM, after Henry and Alice finished giving their statements and came out, they saw Ophelia leaning against Percival, asleep on a chair.

Percival said, "I asked around, and even if it's a virtual phone call, it can be traced."

Henry said, "I'll handle this."

Percival gazed at Ophelia, who had fallen asleep leaning on his shoulder, clutching his arm. His eyes were filled with tenderness as he said, "I promised Ophelia that I would deal with the mastermind behind this."

Henry thought for a moment, "Alright, you come along with us."

Percival nodded. Watching Ophelia with her mouth slightly open, almost drooling, he couldn't help but chuckle.

He lightly tapped her smooth forehead with his finger, "Wake up, I'm taking you to catch the mastermind."

But no matter how he called, Ophelia didn't wake up. Maybe the earlier scare had exhausted her.

With no other choice, Percival picked Ophelia up and carried her out of the police station.

He looked at Declan, "I'll drive Alice's car. You and Ace go first."

Declan nodded and helped open the back door of Alice's car.

Percival placed Ophelia inside, took the car keys, and followed Henry's car.

Ace Jones clicked his tongue, "Declan, do you think Percival has fallen for Miss Howard?"

Declan shrugged, "Miss Howard is very lovable. It's normal for Percival to like her, but he's a bit old."

Ace laughed, "Mr. Howard is eight years older than Miss Savoy."

Declan's eyes were full of hope, "Looks like I can find someone younger in the future too."

Ace was silent.

Henry glanced at the rearview mirror, looking at the car following them, "I suspect Percival has ulterior motives towards Ophelia."

Alice laughed, "You've got it backward. That one should been Ophelia. Whenever she gazes at Percival, her eyes are so intense that it seems as though she desires to devour him."

"Girls should be more reserved." Henry said slowly, looking ahead.

Alice leaned closer to him, "You are disdaining me.""

"What?"

"Not reserved."

Henry glanced at her, "I was wrong, baby. I like your lack of reservation."

"Doesn't matter; I'm going to be reserved tonight." Alice leaned back to her seat.

Henry finally understood what it meant to shoot oneself in the foot. "Honey, I was wrong."

"Too late." Alice closed her eyes to rest.

When the car arrived at a secluded villa in the suburbs an hour later, it was almost 1 AM.

The interior of the villa was enveloped in darkness.

Henry turned on the headlights, flashing them around.

Soon, a window opened, and Oliver cursed loudly. "Fuck! Who is it?"

He rubbed his eyes and recognized the license plate, his heart sinking.

"Henry." Oliver knew he was busted. He turned and ran downstairs, heading for the back door to escape.

But as soon as he opened the door, his eyes widened in shock Before he could react, he was kicked out.

Oliver lay on the ground, looking particularly disheveled. He struggled to get up but was pinned down by a foot on his chest.
