Chapter 156 Then I'll Comfort You Properly
Percival stormed in, looking all kinds of pissed off.
By the flickering firelight, he scanned the room and saw a bunch of people sprawled out, groaning in pain. Alice and Ophelia stood out among them.
He hadn't expected to see Alice here.
He rushed over, "You guys okay? Anyone hurt?"
Alice smiled, "We're good, no injuries."
Ophelia ran to him and threw herself into his arms.
"Percival," she cried, her voice thick with emotion, "I was terrified. I thought I'd never see you again."
Percival gently patted her back, "I'm sorry, it's my fault. I ought to have watched you enter back then."
Ophelia sniffled, "It's not your fault. It's that mastermind's fault. He had these people kidnap me just to lure out Alice. It's so despicable. If I knew who he was, I'd beat him to death!"
Percival held her close, thinking how could she, with her frail body, beat anyone to death?
She had learned some fighting skills from Alice, but it was mostly for show; she had no real combat ability.
He smiled indulgently, "Alright, I'll hold him down, and you hit him."
She looked up, her eyes shining brightly in the firelight, "Do you mean what you say?"
"Yeah." Percival ruffled her hair.
He turned to Alice, "You were too bold. Should the adversary be numerous and armed with guns, what course of action will you take?"
Alice raised an eyebrow, "But I'm perfectly fine now."
"Henry doesn't know about this yet, does he?" Percival asked, somewhat helplessly.
Ophelia said, "I just called him. He'll be here soon."
Percival nodded and told Declan and the driver, "Go to the car and get some ropes to tie their hands."
They immediately complied, tying up all eight people securely.
Percival glanced at Ophelia, noticing her shirt buttons were gone.
He took a piece of clothing from the trunk and handed it to her, "Go change."
Ophelia nodded and quickly got into Alice's car to change.
She giggled and leaned over, "Alice, I have a little secret to tell you."
"What?"
"I gave my first kiss to Percival."
Alice was a bit surprised, "Are you two together?"
"No, it was when Percival was in the hospital. I secretly kissed him." Ophelia bit her lip, "I just hugged him too. I really like him. If I can't marry him in this life, I'll be heartbroken."
Alice glanced at Percival, who was leaning against the car door smoking. She thought they actually made a good pair. "Then go for it! I hope you can be with him happily in the end."
Ophelia nodded heavily, "Even though I know there's a big gap between me and Percival, I'll work hard!"
Alice embraced her, filled with guilt towards Ophelia, because it was the mastermind's vengeance against her that had inadvertently ensnared Ophelia.
When she arrived outside and heard Ophelia's scream before, her heart tightened. If something had really happened to Ophelia, she would never forgive herself.
She held Ophelia's shoulders, "I am really sorry."
Ophelia smiled, "I really don't blame you. I regard you as my family. If you marry Henry, you will be my aunt. Besides, you came just in time, and I'm fine. Don't worry; I'm going to find Percival."
Alice watched Ophelia get out of the car and walk shyly towards Percival.
She smiled, grabbed her laptop from the back seat, and started tracing the source of the internet call.
In no time, she pinpointed it to a villa in the suburbs, owned by Oliver.
Oliver was a real piece of work, kidnapping his own relative, Ophelia. What a scumbag.
Alice set the laptop aside and rubbed her temples.
Just then, a Maybach zoomed in and stopped next to Alice's car, followed by a fleet of police cars.
Henry jumped out and opened Alice's car door, "Why didn't you tell me?"
Alice got out, wrapped her arms around Henry's waist, and looked up at him, blinking, "Don't be mad, okay?"
Looking into Alice's eyes, most of Henry's anger melted away, "No, I'm still in rage."
"Then let me make it up to you?"
"It doesn't work."
Alice leaned into his arms, "They called and told me to come alone. If I didn't, they said they'd kill Ophelia. She's your niece and my friend. I couldn't risk her life for my own safety. Luckily, I got here in time; otherwise, Ophelia would've been in real trouble. If that had happened, how could I face you, her parents, or your parents?"
Henry sighed, "But you could've been in danger. What if something happened to you? What would I do then?"
Alice looked at him and smiled brightly, "See, I am safe and sound; no worries. For you, I'll always protect myself. Those eight kidnappers were too weak. The one who bullied Ophelia, I disabled his reproductive organs; he can never trouble any girl again.""
Ophelia ran over and called out sweetly, "Henry!"
Henry let go of Alice and turned to pat Ophelia's head, "I'm glad you're okay."
Ophelia said, "Yeah, thanks to my amazing aunt!"
Henry glanced at Alice, as if asking if she had revealed their relationship.
Alice shook her head.
Henry noticed Ophelia's oversized T-shirt and instantly knew whose it was.
Percival walked up, putting out his cigarette, "Sorry, I didn't take good care of Ophelia."
Afraid Henry would scold Percival, Ophelia quickly said, "It's not Percival's fault. I insisted they leave first. Blame the person who ordered the kidnappers."
Percival said, "What's the number of that internet call? I'll have someone check it out."
Alice said, "I've already got someone on it."
Percival nodded, "Let me know when you find out. I'll make sure that scumbag pays."
At that moment, the police escorted seven people and carried one into the police car.
Police Chief Dylan walked over, "The involved parties need to come to the station to give statements. Even though it was self-defense, the kidnappers are injured."
Henry nodded, "Alright, we'll drive ourselves."
Alice looked at Percival, "Percival, can you have Declan drive my car, and Ophelia ride with you? I'll go with Henry."
Percival agreed and handed Alice's car keys to Declan.
In the car.
Henry drove behind the police car, "Have you found out that mastermind?"
"It's Oliver," Alice said.
Henry's grip on the steering wheel tightened. That bastard Oliver had done something so heinous.
Alice bit her lip, "There are two things I need to tell you."
"Go ahead."
"If I tell you, you can't be mad at me."
Henry glanced at her, "Alright."
