Chapter 21 Party party

Chapter 21 Party party
MAELIS ARDENT POV

“Rye, this is not necessary,” I said as I tried to stop her and try to get up from my seat.

“No, no, this is necessary. Think of it as my farewell gift to you before I leave. Besides, let's be honest, you need it. You look like you’ve taken a beating, especially you dry here.” She said in a dramatic voice and expression.

“Thanks,” I sarcastically answered here.

I mean, the beating is literally, but I don’t know why it is necessary to fix my hair. They didn't even get any scars from the scars and burns.

“Don’t do too much,” I said, nodded, and started mixing things.

“I got you, don’t worry, just trust me.” She said, playing with her eyebrow up and down.

“Oh god, save me.”

I KEEP LOOKING at the time on the wall, I can’t waste anymore time. I only have 6 days left to bring that spoiled brat home to his family. ‘

“Aren’t we done, yes? I really need to go, I’m here for mission Rye.” I said as she combed my hair.

“I know that, you never go somewhere for anything then mission. This is about to be done, I’m just finishing it.” She said. “Who are you even trying to find now?” She asks.

“Gabriel Valdez,” I said, and I could feel her stop from what she's doing for a moment. “You know him?” I asked.

“No, just sounds familiar. But, meet a lot of Gabrieles every day, there is no way I can remember each of them.” She said, and I nodded my head. “Okay…And done. You can now turn around and look at yourself!” She said as she removed the robe from me. “Tadah!” She said as I looked at the mirror, making me stare at myself.

“What…” I said, looking at myself as I touch my hair.

“I know, I know. It looks good.” She said as she tapped herself on her shoulder.

“You changed the color of half of my hair…” I said as I looked at my hair, the other half remains black, while the other half is platinum silver. “I will kill you,” I said, glaring at her.

Her eyes widen, and run away from me. “What?! It suits you! Black is too boring, you need a change!” She shouted as she ran into her office.

“What? I can’t---how…” I said as I looked at myself in the mirror.

It’s not bad, I look good. But the thing I want to avoid is attention, and this will just give that now. I sigh and just massage my forehead.

“I look good, right?” She said as she peeks from the door,

“I came here to find someone in secret. I need to blend. You just made me stand out.” I said, and she grinned her teeth and showed a peace sign. “You need to turn this back to black,” I said, and she shook her head.

“You can’t, you’re going to go bald if you do.” She said.

“Rye…” I said, and she sighed.

“Maelis, there are a lot of people who have different colored hair. This will not stand out. If I want you to stand out, I would maybe color it orange.” She said, glaring at her as I walked towards her, making her run again inside.

“The part, where is it?” I said, and she smiled and took her phone out.

“At Knox, you don’t need any invitation to get it. But there will be a lot of security there, so be careful.” She said, and I nodded.

“You want to come with me?” I asks and she pouted.

“I want to, but I have to pack and pick up my dog from the sitter.” She said.

“I understand, here, call me when you’re leaving, maybe I could send you off,” I said and handed her my card.

“I will,” She said and walked towards me and hugged me.

I hug her back when I hear her murmur something, making me frown and pull apart from her.

“Did you say something?” I asks.

“I said I will miss you,” She said, and I smiled,

“I will, too, live your best life,” I said, and she squeezed my hand

“I will.”

AS I ENTER THE venue, I couldn't help but curse inside my head. How am I going to find that brat in a pool of drunk people? I could barely hear myself because of the loud music. I tried to make my way to the bar side of the venue, but as soon as I sat down, I saw a familiar face that is standing near a huge crowd of people.

“Rye? What the hell is she doing here?” I asked and stood up. I tried to make my way to her, but for some reason, people just kept getting in the way. It’s like they're doing it on purpose. “RYE!” I shouted, I know that she heard me as I saw her turn her head a little in my direction.

“Hey, miss, wanna dance?” A man said as he grabbed my arm.

“Wanna die?” I said, making him step away immediately.

But as soon as I turn around to look at the direction of Rye again, they’re not there anymore. When someone far away shouted a familiar name, making me turn and look.

“Gabriel! Gab!” A woman shouted while waving at the man standing near the DJ booth.

“Gabriel Valdez?” I said as I stared at the man from a distance and the woman he was standing beside. “Rye…” I said,

I felt like someone was crushed inside me, so this is the reason why she did that to my hair? For her to easily find and get away from me.

“What did you get yourself into, Rye?” I utter to myself in disappointment.

I tried to look around, but is just too many people here. And the blinding light that was constantly changing made it even harder to do it.

“Rye!” I shouted as soon as I spotted her,

I saw her eyes widen and look away. I quickly ran towards them when the light suddenly turned off.

“It’s the exciting part of the night! Bring on the mask!” The host said on the mic, making me frown as I stumble to keep my balance as I feel people move around me.

As soon as the light turned on, I felt like my tongue just been swallowed when I saw everyone with a mask over their face.

“Fuck!” I curse in anger as I try to push people out of the way. “Rye!” I said and grabbed a girl and lifted her mask.

“What the hell?!” The girl said,

“Sorry,” I said, and walked away and tried to find her.

When I saw a familiar scar on a oen woman’s shoulder, Rye had a birth scar on her shoulder. I run to her and grab her.

“What the hell are you doing?!” I said and ripped the mask off her face.

“Maelis…”
