Chapter 22 VIP
Chapter 22 VIP
MAELIS ARDENT POV
“You need to leave,” I said firmly, looking at Rye, and tried to grab her. “And you, you need to come with me,” I said to Gabriel Valdez. He grabbed Rye and put her behind him.
“No one is coming with you,” He said, which made me clench my fist.
“Rye, this is not a joke. You need to leave him. His family is hunting him. Don’t be a part of this.” I said aS tear escaped her eyes.
“How much did they pay you? I’ll double it.” Gabriel Valdez said as he shielded her from me.
“I don’t fucking need your money, it’s her that I need,” I said, and looked at Rye. “You know that if you do this, there is a big chance that they will find you,” I explain. She looked down and grabbed Gabriel's arm.
“But…I can’t leave him, Mae.” She said, sobbing.
“I’ll protect her, you’re not separating us. I don’t care if my parents send you. I will not come.” He said.
“For fuck sake! Are you both out of your minds? You’re living him, Rye, you’re not risking your life for him!” I shouted,
Gabriel tried to stop her when she tried to come towards me, “Mae, I can’t let my past rule how I will live. Gab is one of the reasons why I push through, and I can’t lose him, either. I won’t be able to take it if I lose another person I love.” She said and grabbed my hand. “Please, don’t do this to me…” She pleaded.
I looked away and avoided her eyes and took her hand in mine, “I’m just protecting you,” I said, and looked at both of them.
“Maelis, please, don’t like them.” She begs, and I feel like something inside my chest just clenches my heart.
Rye is like a sister to me, and I was so happy when she was able to get away from the Arcana’s. I made a promise to myself that I will do anything to keep it that way, I want her live a normal life. I want her to have the life that I always dreamt of for myself and my family, but it breaks me now that she’s willing to lose her freedom for this man.
“Rye, please…don’t do this,” I beg, but she slowly removes my hands from her as tears stream down her face.
“I’m sorry, I won’t leave with him.” She uttered in between her sobs.
“No---“I said when the light turned off again. “Rye? Rye?” I called as I tried to find her in the dark.
But as soon as the light turned on again, I saw them in the exit door.
“Open the door!” I shouted to the security,
“I’m sorry, ma’am, but the doors aren’t allowed to be open anymore until 2 am.” The security said.
“Damn it, I have to find my friend!” I shouted and tried to push them aside, but they won’t make any movement. “Fuck! Shit!” I shouted in frustration as I grabbed my hair in frustration.
I looked at my watch, and it’s 12:08, but there is no way I can get out of here using any of these doors. The place is full of security manning the door, I can’t make any more scene and draw any more attention to myself right now.
I walked toward the bar and sat down in the corner. I can’t waste anymore time. I know for a fact that Arcana will not just send one asset to find an important person like Gabriel Valdez, and I need to find them before the other can.
“Hey, beautiful,” A man approached on my side, “What a beautiful woman like you doing in a bar?” He stood beside me, leaning against the bar table. “How about you come with me to my VIP table over there?” He said, pointing at the 2nd floor.
“No thanks,” I answered. “One margarita, please,” I said, and the bartender quickly served it.
“I think you didn’t hear me. I said I have a VIP table there. I think you’ll like it better there.” He repeats, making me roll my eyes as I look away.
“I think you didn’t hear me, too. I said no.” I said and fake a smile towards me as I stood up and moved to the other side of the bar. “Sorry, is there anyone sitting here?” I asked the man wearing a mask, and he shook his head. I quickly sat down.
“You’ll really choose the bar over VIP?” the man said, following me to my seat.
“I think your ears need some cleaning. You should spend money on hygiene first before clubbing.” I said as I drank my margarita and ordered another one.
I heard him laugh beside me, but I didn’t pay any attention to him. I need to figure this out of here. I can’t just sit here and wait until 2 am hit the clock.
“Come one baby, you’re hot when being hard to get, but I think you already do too much. Come along now.” He said from behind as I felt a hand wrap around my waist, startling me, and turn around. But just before my hand could reach, I felt a arms pull my body away from him.
It’s the man beside me, but before I could even ask him. He grabs the other man’s collar and drag from away. People around us immediately notice it as the man fell to the ground, but the man in a mask just keeps dragging him away.
I felt a familiar feeling as that man pulled me, but I know there is no way that he’s the person I think he is. There is no way we are in the same place.
“That’s Arthur Hive, who is the person dragging him?” A woman behind me asks.
“I don’t know, he might get in trouble. Arthur is really someone not to mess with.” Another girl answered.
I place the glass down and follow the man’s direction. I might be cruel, but I can’t let another person suffer because of me. As stops when I saw a bunch of men peeking and crowding the men’s bathroom.
“Excuse me,” I said as I shoved everyone out of the way. I felt like my throat dried up as I saw the perverts man’s bloody face.
But before the other could land another punch, I run front of him and grabbed his arm, stopping him mid-air. “You’ll kill him, it’s not worth it,” I said, and I looked at his bloody fist.
“That’s what I plan to do,” He said, which made me stop for a second and made my mind go blank as I slowly turned my gaze to his face and reached my hand to her mask.
“Lu---Lucien…”
