Chapter 10 The Party
Chapter 10 The Party
Third Person POV
“What? Why would you bring me there? Are you insane?” Maelis said in a panic.
“Look at you, being scared of my father rather than me,” Lucien said, chuckling.
‘Fuck! I’m not fucking ready for this. I might get spotted by some of his father's men I encountered before. This is a disaster.’
“I’m not scared,” Maelis whispered to herself as she looked out of the window. “This is going to be a long night.” She whispered again.
As soon as the car stopped, the door beside Lucien opened, and he immediately got out. Maelis took a deep breath as Lucien opened the door for her.
“Do I really have to be here?” She asks, but Lucien didn’t reply and just walked.
“I’ll kill you tonight if you get in trouble for this,” she murmured to herself.
Maelis couldn’t feel any more stress as they both walked into the hall. She felt so tense as she looked around. She could feel eyes on her. She wants to punch Lucien as they enter the hall, but tries to stop herself.
‘Too many familiar faces’
“Madam, can I take your coat for you?” A man, but looking like a butler, said to her.
“Oh, yeah, sure.” She smiled and took her coat off.
“Oh wow,” Someone from a distance said. “Look who just came in to play,”
Maelis frowns a little as she looks around, people are looking ---staring at her.
“Is there something wrong with my face?” She whispered to Lucien,
“Damn it,” Lucien said and grabbed her hand. “Don’t fucking leave my side and talk ever to anyone.” He added, glaring at her.
‘Oh, sir, you got it. I’m not planning to die here.’
“Why is everyone staring? Did I do something wrong?” She asks, confused.
“Really? You don’t know?” He said mockingly.
“Will I ask if I do?” She fired back and rolled her eyes at him.
“You look like a fucking dish in that dress,” He said that stunned Maelis and left her speechless. “So, I don’t want me to kill someone because of you, all eyes on me.” He added. “And also, remind me to kill someone named Marc when we get home.”
“W-what? Why?” She asks, confused.
“I’ll kill him for sending that dress.”
MAELIS COULD feel the glares from the woman inside the hall as they passed by, as well as the whispers. She took a deep breath as they reached their table and grabbed a glass of champagne.
“Wait here,” Lucien said, and was about to walk away, but Maelis quickly tightened her grip on his hand.
“What? No, you said we won’t separate.” She said,
“Do you want to come with me to face my father?” He said, and Maelis could help but swallow and bite her lower lip.
“Damn it,” She said to herself. “Just come back fast.” She said and let go of his hand.
As Lucien walked away, Maelis felt like describing her situation right now with the word ‘uncomfortable’ seemed like an understatement. She could hear the woman talking about her and even see their eyes roll.
‘Yes, roll the till they can’t anymore, pathetic.’
“So, you’re Lucien’s date.” A woman from behind said, placed her glass on the table, and offered her a hand. “Samantha,” she introduced herself.
“Martell,” Maelis answered and accepted her hand.
“So, how did you do it?” the woman asks that made Maelis frown.
“Do? What exactly are you talking about?” She asks, confused.
“Oh, come on, let’s not play dumb here. It’s just the two of us talking.” The woman said, smiling.
Maelis wanted to roll her eyes, she sighs and wet her lips with her tongue.
“I don’t actually know what you’re talking about,” Said and smiled at her too.
The woman couldn’t help but lose her smile. She took a deep breath and forced a smile to Maelis.
“Do I look like I’m trying to play here?” The woman said and come closer to Maelis. “I don’t know what every trick you did to get Lucien bring you here as his date, but trust me, he’ll drop you like a hot potato as soon as this party is over.” She and smirked at Maelis face.
“Oh, is that what he did to you?” Maelis said and laughed as she sipped her champagne. “It sounds like it came from an experience.” She added and looked at her with a smile.
“You’re a bitch, huh?” The woman said and walked towards her, standing in front of her face.
Maelis laughed and wiped the corner of her lips with her finger, “Is that supposed to be an insult?” She said.
“I know Lucien, he's just playing with you. So, while it’s still early, why don’t you just get out of here?” The woman said, raising her eyebrow at her. “Don’t worry, I’ll just tell him you lost control of your bowel and need to leave.” The woman added.
“Huh, should I?” Maelis said and tilted and bit her lower lip,
“What do you want? Money?” The woman said, opened her purse, and took out a wad of cash and offered it to Maelis. “Is this enough? If not, I can write you a check. Just tell me how much to get your ugly ass off here.” The woman added.
Maelis couldn’t help but laugh, catching some of the people’s attention around them. “If I really want money, won’t I get a lot more if I get it from Lucien?” She smiling. “Besides, even if I wanted to leave this party, Lucien won’t allow me.” She said and grabbed another glass of champagne from the waiter. “You know he’s been so possessive of me lately, her won’t even let me leave the house by myself.” She said and turned her back at the woman with a smirk on her face.
‘Well played, Maelis, this bitch is really getting on my nerves.’
Maelis wet her lips with the champagne when the woman spoke again from behind, making her turn around.
“You---You’re living in his house?” The woman is stuttering.
“Yeah,” Maelis said, like it’s something normal.
“No—no! You’re lying!” The woman said, half-shouting,
Maelis smiled at her, but just then Basil was about to approach her. “Basil, I’m living with Lucien, right?” She asked him that made him stop and look at both of the women.
“Yes, Ms,” Basil answered with a little confusion in his voice, but as soon as she recognized who the woman was, he smiled and looked at the woman and answered again. “You’re living at Mr. Lucien Allard's house.”
