Chapter 127 Chapter 127
Chapter 127 Chapter 127
Daisy's POV:
After putting on my clothes, I left the roof and part of me was hoping that, somehow, Aiden would still be around. But I knew it was a piper's dream and I wasn't that disappointed when I didn't see him anywhere. He would be a dead man if he was still present anyway. My inner thighs were sticky as I made my way to my room. Once inside, I turned the key in the lock and, after hearing the satisfying click, I pulled off the clothes again and headed straight into the shower.
As the water cascaded over my body, I shut my eyes, memories of the spectacular night with Aiden keeping my mind busy. I hadn't realized how much I'd missed him fucking me until when he filled me with his cock last night. The sudden urge to run away from Klaus and return to him came over me but, knowing what the end result of that line of action would be, I forced the thought out of my mind.
Being away from Aiden was a small sacrifice to make to achieve what I wanted and I was very willing to make it. Deciding I was clean enough, I turned off the shower and stepped out, returning to the room to get dressed.
Then I went in search of Klaus and just like I expected, he looked very worried. There was a member of the pack with him and they were engaged in a conversation that ended immediately after he became aware of my presence. "Daisy? Jesus! Where the hell have you been?" He asked, walking quickly towards me.
The first thought that came to mind was to tell him that I'd been kidnapped, knowing it would be a very convincing excuse, but I decided against it immediately, knowing that he would start an investigation that might end up revealing that Aiden had been there.
"I'm sorry, I fell asleep and lost track of time," I replied instead.
"You did?" He asked, his tone indicating that he didn't believe me. "But I sent people to your room and they didn't find you there. Where were you, Daisy?"
He didn't look worried anymore, instead, he was now looking at me with suspicion.
"On the roof," I answered as calmly as I could, betraying the rapid beating of my heart. "I was curious and I went up to the roof where I slept off. You can go up there if you don't believe me. You'll find evidence that I was there.”
He said nothing, eyeing me carefully, then he exhaled, saying, “Alright then. Just don't scare me like that again." Turning to the man he'd been talking to, he said, “That will be all, Derek. Abort the search party.”
The man nodded and he threw a cautious glance in my direction as he walked away. Uncomfortable with the way he looked at me, I averted my gaze. There was something about him that made me feel like he could see through me and read my mind and that was the last thing I could allow to happen at that moment.
After his departure, Klaus moved to the chair in the room and settled into it.
After thinking for a few moments, I said, "I have a question for you."
“Yeah?” He said, looking up from his phone. “I'm listening.”
"Hypothetically speaking, if I could get Aiden to rule with a softer hand, would you be willing to stop the revolution and make peace with him?"
I studied his expression carefully and from that, I already knew what to expect but I continued anyway, determined to finish what I had already started. There was no going back now.
Moving closer to him, I said, "Think of all the unnecessary bloodshed it would save, especially that of women and children. Why choose war when all these things could be settled amicably?”
I stopped, waiting to hear his response but he gestured towards me with his hand and said, "go on. I can see you still have more to say."
I couldn't tell if that was a good thing or bad thing because I couldn't read his expression unlike before. I decided to continue anyway. "You know the whole power issue is between you, Aiden, and the others. A meeting between all of you would settle things, rather than involving innocent people. War will only result in irreparable loss on both sides."
"Are you done?" He asked, rising to his feet.
"Yeah," I replied and clapped my hands together. "Please, Klaus. Think about it. It's a better way to resolve things."
"If Kieran had been alive," he started, "then everything you said now might have been useful, but not with me. I'm not Kieran, and I'm not doing things the way he does. If he'd had the balls to do what needed to be done, things wouldn't have gone this far. The revolution is happening, and it would only end when Aiden is dead. Let this be the last time you talk to me about it if you're not giving me advice that would be helpful to the cause.”
Knowing that an argument would be a waste of my time, I simply nodded and said nothing else. Klaus was far gone, blinded by his selfish ambition and it was obvious now that trying to convince him to change his mind was a lost cause. At least, I had tried.
Part of me wished that Kieran was still alive. Maybe Klaus would have had someone to bring him to his senses. "Since the ceremony is not over," Klaus said, interrupting my thoughts, "we are to complete it under the full moon tonight. There would be no crowd present. Just me, you, and the chief priest."
"Okay," I said and turned to go.
"You'd better not miss it this time," he said when I'd almost got to the door.
"I won't," I replied without turning around.
I headed back to my room and collapsed onto my bed. I wasn't going to stop. Not yet. I had to find a way to stop this war, no matter how hard it would be. I wouldn't be able to live with myself if so many people ended up losing their lives when I knew I could have stopped it from happening.
The option of going to the people individually and trying to convince them was already out of the question. The last thing anyone needed was for Klaus to rip me apart, something he would surely do if I went to the people again. I would find another way. I had no other choice.
