Chapter 278: Marrying 16 Husbands
Chapter 278: Marrying 16 Husbands
The guards stared intently at Tyler and his group, their eyes full of vigilance, not letting them step even half a foot past the checkpoint.
Tyler's face darkened. He knew that trying to force his way through here would get him nowhere and would only give people something to use against him.
He let out a cold laugh, stopped arguing, and turned around with his bodyguards to head back into the airport.
The security captain following Tyler felt frustrated seeing his boss get shut down. He moved closer to Tyler, lowered his voice, and asked with an indignant expression,
"Mr. Thompson, should we activate the backup plan?"
Tyler paused mid-step, his eyes flickering for a moment, then nodded and gave instructions in a voice only the two of them could hear,
"You guys go first. Everyone remember to leave separately, then leave one team with me. I'll leave through another terminal in a bit, and you'll meet me outside."
"Yes, Mr. Thompson!"
The security captain quickly agreed, then added with concern,
"Please be careful."
"Don't worry."
Tyler's voice remained steady.
He took the black baseball cap the security captain handed him, put it on his head, and pulled up his mask, covering most of his face.
Another bodyguard with a very similar build quickly stepped forward, took Tyler's black suit jacket, and put it on himself.
He even adjusted his hairstyle deliberately. From a distance, he looked exactly like Tyler.
Then the group split into four teams, heading in four different directions, and quickly disappeared into the crowd.
Soon, Tyler's small team quietly blended into the bustling crowd at the gate and moved toward another terminal.
The guard captain saw the "decoy" wearing Tyler's suit from a distance, leading several bodyguards back through customs and boarding the return flight.
Only then did he breathe a sigh of relief and, satisfied, led his men back to report to Prince Kumb.
Lumaria · Prince's Palace
Kumb was sitting on the sofa in his study, playing with a jade pendant in his hand.
Hearing the guard captain's footsteps, he looked up, frowning slightly, and asked,
"You saw him actually leave?"
The guard captain quickly bowed respectfully and said with certainty,
"Yes, Prince Kumb, I saw him return with my own eyes. The flight information was just confirmed—
in four more hours, it will land in the Frank Empire."
"Good."
Kumb responded softly, a flash of satisfaction in his eyes. He put down the jade pendant and ordered in a deep voice,
"Alright then, continue to have people closely monitor the Smith family's movements. Don't let them have any chance to contact Emily."
"Yes, Prince Kumb! I obey your command!"
The guard captain respectfully agreed, turned around, and left.
At that moment in the Prince's Palace garden, a lively gathering had just ended.
Arian looked at Emily's distracted appearance, covered her mouth in surprise, moved closer to her, and asked,
"So? Didn't like any of them?
I thought that boy who blushed and volunteered to set up the dining room was pretty nice—cheerful personality, good family background, and most importantly, he blushed just looking at you. Clearly no dating experience!"
Emily was looking down, kicking pebbles at her feet. Hearing this, she looked up blankly: "Which one?"
Arian shook her head helplessly and patiently explained,
"Dodge Ram, you know?
The one with that huge car factory, really famous worldwide."
"I didn't really notice. Was he the one wearing glasses?"
Emily really wasn't in the mood to remember what those people looked like, so she just guessed casually.
"No, silly girl."
Arian couldn't help but tap her forehead,
"It was the gentleman with a pocket watch pinned to his suit. He even came over to talk to you, and you didn't respond to him at all."
Emily shook her head a bit embarrassedly, saying apologetically,
"I'm sorry, there were too many people just now, it was so chaotic, I... I didn't pay attention."
Princess Arian looked at her absent-minded state and sighed helplessly:
"You didn't pay attention, or you just didn't look at all?
I saw that from start to finish, you barely lifted your eyelids. What a waste of those boys' efforts—
they were all trying so hard to be nice to you."
Arian paused, then gently advised,
"Maybe some of them came to the Prince's Palace because of your status,
but I could tell that some of them were genuinely attracted to your beauty and grace.
Dear child, don't underestimate your own appeal. You deserve to be genuinely liked."
Emily's cheeks grew hot from her words. She covered her burning red cheeks, her voice barely audible,
"Princess Arian, please don't tease me. I'm getting embarrassed."
"Alright, alright, I'll stop."
Arian looked at the sky and said with a smile,
"Your father should be back soon. Let's go inside."
The two had just walked into the dining room when they saw Kumb coming in from outside.
He was wiping his hands with a handkerchief while walking toward Emily, asking with a smile,
"What are you talking about? So lively? How were those boys you met today?
Did you like any of them, Emily?"
Emily didn't want to dampen Kumb's spirits, so she just lowered her head and said reluctantly, "They were... all pretty good."
Kumb raised an eyebrow, deliberately drawing out his tone with a playful expression,
"All pretty good? Our precious daughter has such high standards. Are you trying to keep all the excellent ones for yourself? So greedy?"
After saying this, Kumb and Arian exchanged glances, both showing teasing expressions on their faces.
Emily stood there stunned, completely confused, not understanding what Kumb meant.
The row of servants standing behind her also covered their mouths, giggling quietly.
Emily became more flustered. She looked back at the giggling servants in confusion, then looked at Kumb, her eyes full of puzzlement.
Seeing this, Arian's servant finally couldn't help but step forward. She walked to Emily's side with a smile and explained softly,
"My dear Emily, you may not be very familiar with Lumaria's laws.
Here, we don't have a monogamous system.
As long as both parties are willing, you can have multiple spouses."
"What do you mean?"
Emily's eyes widened in shock as she asked.
The nanny patiently explained,
"That means, if you're willing, you can marry four husbands at the same time; or a gentleman can marry four wives at the same time.
And as a member of the Lumaria royal family, your status is even more prestigious—you could even marry 16 husbands."
