Chapter 33 Falling for the devil 1
Chapter 33 Falling for the devil 1
"Ursula!"
She spun around immediately, the hot tea cup almost falling out of her hand, spilling a bit of its contents on her fingers.
It stung.
But who cared?
She knew that it must have been Camilla who screamed her name because she was thumping towards her with a grave look rested on her face.
And Ethan slowly walked in to the house with Taylor in his arms.
She looked away not just because Camilla was now standing right in front of her face but also because of the tie she felt in her stomach the moment Ethan's eyes was about to meet with hers.
Why is he acting like there's anything to be guilty of? I mean, it's not like I'm his real wife.
But..why do I also feel bad? No. It's just because I feel bad for Taylor. Maybe, he took advantage of...
"Didn't you hear me?"
Her train of thoughts was interrupted by Camilla whose voice now got a bit malicious.
"Sorry? I mean I'm so sorry. I was -"
Then, her eyes drifted back to Taylor in Ethan's arms.
Ethan's eyes to be precise.
Ethan's eyes glued to Taylor's face, and his expression twisted with guilt.
Then, his eyes met with hers again.
She looked to Camilla. She wouldn't give him the relief of whatever guilt he was feeling. No.
"Okay. Just make her some tea, like the one in your hand. The doctor said she needs it. She's so sorry about what happened between she and Ethan..that she cut herself out of guilt."
Camilla lied, her voice de-escalating from irritated to normal. Back to acting.
Ursula's eyes widened and her breath caught.
She did this because of me? Why? I mean it's not like I care or love Ethan. She shouldn't have to feel bad to have sex with him.
And just as if Camilla could read Taylor's mind, she added more spice.
"Ethan..t-took advantage of her. I trust you with this. Please, don't tell anyone"
Camilla was too satisfied with the knowledge of what seed she had planted in Ursula, that she didn't even wait to see her last facial expression.
Ursula dropped her cup of tea on the table.
How could he have taken advantage of her? I thought he couldn't get worse. I thought he had a tiny light within him, somewhere.
She picked up her cup of tea and walked to the kitchen to prepare another for Taylor.
Each step on the staircase felt a little bit too high, higher than usual.
She poured her cup of tea into the sink, remembering when she used to save leftovers with her late mother to be able to eat the next day.
Now, she could pour tea away just because her stomach had tied and even though, a tiny amount of guilt nudged her, save was more overwhelm with shock.
Taylor's probably a kind person, truly. And Ethan, I guess he doesn't just do this to weak and poor people like me...he does this to every woman. What does he think he is? God?
"What's the hold up with the t-"
Ursula paused, looking
"I thought she sent the maid to do this"
Ursula looked away.
"Leave the kitchen" Ethan said.
Ursula looked up at him
"What?"
"I asked you to leave the kitchen. You're pregnant with my child. You shouldn't be c-"
Ursula dumped the tea cup in the sink and began to walk out.
Ethan grabbed her by the arm, pulling her close to him.
"Why do you care that I slept with another woman, huh? Are you... jealous?" Ethan searched for comfort for the guilt he felt.
She could feel his breath on her lips.
"I rather die in the cold than to be in your arms"
Ursula pulled out her hand from his, pushing him.
As she walked out, those last words repeated in her head over and over again.
She wondered where the courage came from. Was it because of the fact that he forced himself on a woman? Was it because Taylor and Camilla made her feel a bit more confident in something?
Whatever it was, she felt pleased with herself.
She slammed the door behind her, startling the brave Ethan.
What has gotten into her? Is she jealous that I had something to do with Taylor? Does she wish it was her instead? And why is she trying to be close to Taylor? She's up to something.
"Well, fuck you" he muttered under his breath.
The door opened.
A maid.
"Sir, your wife, Mrs B-"
"Make a cup of tea and send it to Taylor's room" he spat.
The maid bowed.
He walked out of the kitchen.
Taylor winced when Camilla tried to lift her hand onto a pillow as she had requested.
"You really out-did yourself, Tay"
"Hmm"
"I didn't expect you to go this far. The plan was to get him drunk, accuse him and then-"
The door creaked open.
Camilla adjusted herself quickly.
Taylor shut her eyes and slowed her breath.
But it wasn't Ethan or Ursula.
It was the maid.
"Just drop it there and leave, okay?!" Camilla barked.
Taylor opened her eyes and then rolled tnem the moment she saw the maid, dropping the tea tray.
"I'm sorry for not kn-"
"Leave!" Camilla shouted throwing a pillow at the maid.
"Are you deaf?" Taylor added.
The maid bowed and left.
"Oh God, that was close" Camilla tilted her head backwards, eyes on the ceiling and then back on Taylor.
"You know I'd do anything for your brother, don't you?"
"I knew you loved him but hurting yourself to make it look real was overboard. What if you actually died?!"
"Then, I'd be dying for love then"
Camilla stared. Speechless. Convinced.
"Tea. Shall we? ...and I wonder why Ursula didn't bring it" Taylor added.
