Chapter 92 - Fated to the cursed Alpha
Embry
Kane refused to let me walk out to the car. Instead, he pushed me in a wheelchair. I was still hurting, so a part of me was thankful. However, I didn't want to be a burden to anyone. I would have made it out there just fine, it may have taken me a little while longer but I would have got there eventually.
He wheeled me next to the vehicle and opened it. Clicking the car seat into the base in the back. I tried getting out of the chair. “No, wait, I'll help you” Kane stated, as he came back to the chair and turned me around to face him.
He opened the front door and scooped his arms beneath me. Lifting me into the front seat of the car, “I am quite capable of getting in here myself, Kane” I said as I leant back against the seat giving him room to pull my seatbelt around me and click it into place.
“I know” He acknowledged what I said.
He closed my door and returned the chair to the front entrance of the hospital. I looked behind me at the car seat. I could only just see the top of my baby's hat. He was sound asleep still.
“Ready?” Kane asked as he got into the car.
“Yep” I nodded, he started the engine and pulled out of the car park, I was looking forward to being home with my family. Being in my own bed.
“So we have fifteen minutes before we get home, I think that would give us a good start on thinking of a name,” Kane said, reaching across and taking hold of my hand.
“I've been thinking about it actually, and I know we spoke before and we couldn't agree on a name. But actually seeing him, there is one name you suggested and I really think it suits him.”
“Oh, yeah? Which one?”
“Enzo”
“Yeah, I remember mentioning that, but you weren't that keen on it.” He looked between me and the road.
“I know but, I just thought of it as soon as I saw him. We don't have to go with that one though if you have changed your mind about it.”
“No, I still like it, I agree” Kane gave my hand a gentle Squeeze “Enzo” he whispered slowly to himself. A small smile appeared on his lips. We spent the rest of the journey talking about a middle name, I had to laugh at Kane as he explained how persistent Ryder had been about using his name.
Blair
Ryder had not long returned, he went straight for a shower to get cleaned up. I sat with Kala and Rose. It was the first time we had managed to all sit-down and rest together. All we had been doing was cleaning and trying to get things ready in the baby's room. We had sent Ansel out for the few last bits we needed, then everything was finally ready.
“I do hope Embry wakes soon, she will be so upset if she misses out on too much of the baby's first few days”, Rose said as she put her feet up on the footstool.
“I know, I'm sure she will wake up soon, she's strong. Plus, I think she is the only one who Kane listens to these days. She needs to be here to keep him in line", I laughed.
"Now that, I agree with," Rose smirked. " I must say I am so glad they have each other, that boy has so much of his mother in him. I knew he would make a great mate to someone one day"
"I used to tease him when we were children. He was soo lanky and skinny, I told him no woman would want a bean pole like him", Kala laughed. "Had two buck teeth also, poor guy". She positioned her fingers to look like two buck teeth, making Rose and I laugh hard. "Thank god for puberty that all I'm saying"
"Not as bad as Ryder. Have you seen a picture of him as a child? "I think the only haircut his mother knew was a bowl cut, and he always wore these bright orange and blue dungarees. So I agree, Thank god for puberty, and to hairdressers!" I smiled raising my cup of coffee into the air.
The sound of an engine coming down the drive caught our attention. "Oh, I think Kane's back," Kala said, leaning to the side, getting a better look out the window. "I think he has someone with him?" She got up and walked to the window this time. She gasped and put her hand over her mouth.
"He has, it's our nephew!" I stated the obvious.
"What is it?" Rose asked as we got up from our seats.
She turned to us, "Embry's in the car". She jumped up and down excitedly and ran towards the door.
"What?" I asked, not believing what she was saying.
"It is her!" I ran after Kala straight out the front door.
Kane
I jumped out of the vehicle outside our home. Walking around to Em's door I heard the front door open, Kala was the first to come running out.
"Embry!" She called as she rounded the vehicle towards us.
"Wait!" I held out my Mars as Kala stopped, Blair soon came behind her. "She is still in alot of pain, no crowding her" I warned them both.
"I'm fine!" Em pushed my arm out the way, I helped her stand as she went to the girls and hugged them. I watched to make sure they were gentle but I knew they wouldn't hurt her intentionally.
I got Enzo's seat out of the back of the car, he was wide awake looking around. "Can you take this little one" I handed the seat to Kala as I went back to Em. scooping her up in my arms, I carried her up into the house.
"Embry, I can't tell you how happy I am to see you" Rose's voice came from behind me. I placed Em down on the sofá as Rose appeared from nowhere. Leaning down, she kissed the top of Em's head and took a seat next to her.
"How are you here? Last we heard you were sedated at the hospital?" Blair asked as she came sat on the opposite sofá next to Kala, who was already unbuckling Enzo from his seat.
"I have no idea, It all feels so surreal. Adele wanted to keep me in to make sure I was ok for twenty-four hours, but I just wanted to come home. Be in my own bed", She explained.
"I'll leave you all for a minute, Blair, where's Ryder?" I asked her hoping to get the low down on how things went today.
"Showering, but he should be done by now", She answered.
I ran up the stairs hoping to get to Ryder before he made his way down the stairs. I hadn't told Em what had been going on as I didn't want to bombard her with too much so soon after waking up. I knocked on Ryder's door. "Yeah!" I heard him call.
Opening the door, I saw him sitting on the edge of his bed tying his laces. "Hi, How is she?" He asked as soon as he saw me.
"She's downstairs" I answered him, making him whip his head up at me in shock.
"What, now? She's awake?" He asked, confused.
"Yeah, I can't believe it myself, it all happened so fast. She's still in quite a bit of pain but she wanted to come home"
"Well, that's amazing man!" Ryder laughed as he stood, walked to me and embraced me in a manly bear hug.
"Thanks!" I patted him on his back as he pulled away. Looking around on the floor, he grabbed his other shoe and sat back on the bed. "I actually wanted to come to get the low down on what happened today. Em don't know anything about it, so didn't want to mention it in front of her." I explained.
"Not alot to report, we got rid of everyone that was there, as instructed. It wasn't much if I'm honest. They were living like animals
I think he was recruiting rogues, most were crazy. It was the best outcome for them really"
"No problems?"
"None, went quite swiftly actually" He smiled as he stood up.
"Good", I nodded.
"Let's go see this kick-ass mate of yours," Ryder said as he clapped his hands together.
We all sat and talked, waited for Ansel to come back from the shops. Kala had sent him with a long list, as usual, When he arrived back home he was just as shocked as the others to see Em home already. It filled me with joy to know how strong she had been, but I was beginning to see it in her face that she was getting tired.
"Ok, now we are all here, Em and I would like to announce something to you before we head upstairs, my wife is beginning to get very tired. We have chosen a name for this little one" I rubbed my index finger on Enzo's cheek as he was nestled in Em's arms. "Would you like to tell them?" I asked Em.
She shook her head, "You can, im trying to save what little voice I have". she said in a raspy voice. Everyone around us laughed.
"Ok, well, I would like to welcome our newest addition to the family, Enzo Kane Corban.
Everyone cheered and welcomed the little man properly. He wasn't fazed by any of it as he spent most of the evening sleeping. It wasn't long before we headed upstairs to bed. Ansel carried Enzo up for us as I carried Em. Saying our goodbyes to everyone we finally sat on the bed and relished the silence for just a moment.
I got our son ready for bed I was becoming a dab hand at these nappy and outfit changes now. When I was finished I laid him in his crib making sure he was warm enough I turned my attention to Em.
I helped her take a shower, she wanted to freshen herself up. She managed most of it on her own, but I helped wash her hair and then dry her with a towel and put her new dressings on her wounds before carrying her back to the bed.
"This feels so much better" she whispered as I pulled the cover over her.
"I'm so happy to have you home, I couldn't sleep at all last night being away from you," I told her as I switched off the light and got into bed next to her.
"I'm happy to be home," She said as she cuddled into me.
