The Infiltrator’s Gamble
The Infiltrator’s Gamble
The night air outside the Alpha twins’ apartment complex was still and heavy, as if holding its breath along with Lena.
She paused every few feet, her senses flaring for anyone who might spot her.
But the area was deserted, exactly as she hoped.
Tonight was perfect. The rooftop dinner had drawn the twins and their precious Luna away, and she had overheard enough to know they would be gone for at least an hour.
Long enough to do what she came for.
She moved swiftly down the silent hallway until she reached the twins’ door.
She eased it open, careful not to make a sound, and slipped inside.
The twins’ apartment was spacious, luxurious, and smelled faintly of cedarwood and male musk.
Lena’s eyes narrowed with a flicker of hatred as she stared at pictures of the Alpha twins and Lily.
She moved deeper into the apartment, checking the kitchen, the study, and even the bedrooms, scanning every surface, every drawer, every scrap of paper— but there was nothing useful.
She felt her frustration growing with every minute that passed.
“Where the hell do they keep it?” she hissed under her breath, tossing aside a stack of magazines on the coffee table. “I know they plan everything down to the hour. They must have a schedule somewhere.”
She was about to give up when she spotted Liam’s laptop sitting closed on the glass desk in the study.
She almost laughed aloud at her own oversight.
“Got you,” she whispered.
She flipped it open, and the screen flickered to life.
Luckily, it hadn’t locked, and after a quick search through the folders on the desktop, she found a file labeled “Pack Calendar.”
She opened it and scrolled quickly, her eyes widening with triumph as she found their daily schedules: training sessions, patrol times, meeting appointments, and even their upcoming dates with Lily.
Everything she needed.
She pulled her phone from her pocket and snapped several pictures of the schedule, making sure every detail was captured.
This is it. Now she could weave chaos into their lives—separating them, exposing them, ruining them—and then, finally, she would move on to that smug, perfect Luna they adored.
A smug smile curled her lips. She closed the laptop and turned to leave, heart pounding with exhilaration.
But the sound of a muffled giggle in the hallway stopped her dead.
She froze, her wolf instincts roaring in her chest.
She slipped to the side of the door and pressed herself flat against the wall, peeking out through a crack.
A young Alpha—muscular and blonde—was pressed against a curvy she-wolf in a short red dress.
Their mouths were locked together, their hands roaming their bodies hungrily.
Lena’s lip curled in disgust as she watched them paw at each other.
“Oh, Alpha Damon,” the she-wolf purred, her voice thick with desire. “I can’t believe we’re doing this. What if your mate finds out?”
Damon growled softly, pulling her tighter.
“She won’t. She’s too busy worrying about pack politics to notice where I spend my nights.”
The she-wolf broke the kiss, her eyes drifting to the twins’ apartment door—just feet from where Lena hid in the shadows.
“You know,” she said with a wistful sigh, “I used to dream about Liam and Lucas before that pathetic girl, Lily, showed up on campus. I was so sure I would have my chance with them.”
Damon stiffened, his eyes narrowing.
“Excuse me?”
She smirked, leaning in again and letting her fingers trail seductively down his chest.
“Relax. I’m with you now, aren’t I?” she teased, pouting up at him. “I just think it’s a shame I never got to seduce those Alphas. Imagine what it would be like… both of them… all that power…”
Damon’s eyes flashed with anger, a low growl rumbling in his throat.
“You’re with me,” he snapped. “Forget about them.”
“Hmm,” she hummed, kissing his jaw. “Maybe I will… if you make it worth my while.”
Damon’s tension melted under her touch, his eyes darkening with lust.
He shoved her back against the wall and kissed her hard, their movements desperate and hungry.
Pathetic. Lena felt her stomach turn.
This was what she hated about college.
She went back into the apartment, praying they wouldn’t look her way.
Her heartbeat thundered in her ears.
She counted the seconds as the couple continued their heated make-out session right outside.
Then, finally, Damon pulled away, breathless.
“Let’s get out of here before someone sees.”
The she-wolf giggled, putting her arm through his.
“Yes, Alpha Damon…”
Lena strained her ears as their footsteps faded down the hall. When she could no longer hear them, she let out a shaky breath.
Thank the Goddess.
She stepped back to the door, cracking it open just enough to peek outside.
The hallway was empty.
She was about to slip through when a fresh scent hit her like a punch—cedarwood and wild mint, the unique blend she had come to recognize as the Alpha twins’ natural musk.
Their voices drifted up the hallway, clear and approaching fast.
Lily’s soft voice entered her ears.
“I’m just glad we left before someone got hurt. Let’s relax together, okay?”
Panic seized Lena. She couldn’t leave now—they were almost at the door. If she stepped into the hall, she would run right into them.
Her eyes darted around the apartment. She spotted a narrow space between the living room bookshelf and the wall—barely wide enough to slip into.
She dove into it, pressing herself against the wall so tightly it felt like her ribs might snap.
She held her breath, forcing her racing heart to calm as the front door clicked open.
The Alpha twins and Lily stepped inside.
Their voices were so close now that Lena could hear the soft rustle of their clothes, the gentle thud of shoes hitting the floor.
She forced herself not to tremble.
"This wasn’t part of the plan. I need to get out of here."
But she couldn’t move. One wrong sound and it would be over.
She pressed her hand over her mouth, eyes wide in the darkness of her hiding spot as the three settled in, oblivious to the predator lurking just feet away.
