Rooftop Confrontation
Rooftop Confrontation
The night sky stretched endlessly over the city, jeweled with distant stars that blinked softly above the glowing skyline.
The rooftop of the Moonlight Lounge was bathed in a warm, golden glow from strings of fairy lights draped over the railings.
It was an enchanting setting—the perfect place for romance.
The scent of freshly bloomed roses wafted through the cool evening air, and the soft strains of classical music drifted from hidden speakers.
This rooftop had been reserved by the Alpha twins—Lucas and Liam—who stood side by side, both dressed sharply in dark suits that hugged their muscular frames.
Their gazes were fixed on Lily, who looked like a goddess in her flowing dress, her hair cascading in loose curls down her back.
The plan was simple: a private dinner to show Lily how much she meant to them.
But their plan was ruined because of Ethan.
“Ethan,” Liam growled, his fists already clenching at his sides, his eyes flashing with the primal fury of his wolf. “This rooftop is reserved. You need to leave.”
Ethan’s grin widened.
“Leave? But I’m having so much fun,” he purred, pulling one of the girls closer and planting a kiss on her lips, then doing the same with the second girl. He looked back at the twins with cold amusement gleaming in his eyes. “Why don’t you three join us? There’s enough fun here for everyone. Lily can… join in too.” His tone was as filthy as the glint in his eyes.
Lucas’s face darkened like a thundercloud. His nostrils flared as he took a step forward, barely restraining himself.
“You son of a—”
“No!” Lily gasped, darting in front of Lucas and pressing her palms against his chest, forcing him back. “Please, Lucas, don’t. Not tonight. I don’t want any fighting. This night was supposed to be beautiful.”
Lucas’s chest heaved with ragged breaths, but he stopped, his eyes never leaving Ethan.
Ethan took a leisurely sip of his drink, his eyes sliding over Lily like a predator eyeing prey.
“Aw, Lily,” he cooed.
He crossed the distance between them in a few slow steps, his two girls trailing behind him with vacant giggles.
He stopped just a foot away from Lily, his face inches from hers, his breath warm and reeking of alcohol.
“Why don’t you convince your boys to join us instead of being so boring? You look like you could use some real fun.”
Lily stiffened, her jaw tightening as she tried to keep her voice calm.
“Ethan, please. We booked this place for a private evening. We just want a quiet night.”
Ethan’s eyes sparkled with mischievous malice as he leaned even closer, his lips nearly brushing her ear.
“And I want to have my fun here, Lily. Why should I give up such a beautiful rooftop just because you three want to play house?”
Liam stepped up beside Lily, his voice low and dangerous.
“Because we will throw you off the roof if you don’t leave.”
“Oh, scary,” Ethan mocked, drawing out the word with a dramatic shiver. “Two big, bad wolves threatening little old me. You know, I think I like it even more now.”
He turned abruptly and slapped the ass of one of his girls, who squealed with delight before giggling uncontrollably.
Ethan looked back over his shoulder with a smirk.
“I’m not leaving. If you don’t like it, then maybe you should.”
The twins’ anger was a tangible force in the air.
Lucas’s voice was a low rumble as he spoke to Lily,
“We can’t just let him ruin our night.”
“He’s mocking us,” Liam added, his teeth bared.
“I know,” Lily whispered, her voice breaking with frustration as she stepped between the twins again.
She turned to face them, her eyes pleading.
“But please, please don’t start a fight. I don’t want this night ruined with violence. Let’s just… let’s just leave. We can find another place.”
Lucas’s eyes softened slightly as he looked at her.
“Lily, we don’t want to leave. This was supposed to be our night with you.”
“I know,” she repeated, tears threatening to spill. “But if we stay, it will only get worse. He wants a reaction. Please. For me.”
Ethan’s laughter cut through the tense silence. He threw his head back, amusement echoing across the rooftop.
“You hear that, boys? She wants to run away! What a disappointment.”
“Shut up!” Liam barked, taking a menacing step forward, but Lily grabbed his arm, her small hands shaking.
“Liam, no! Don’t let him get to you. He’s not worth it,” she begged, her voice breaking.
The two girls with Ethan started giggling even louder, pulling him closer.
He looked at the three of them like they were the entertainment.
“Stay if you want,” he sneered. “We’ll just pretend you’re not there. Or maybe we can put on a show for you, hmm?”
Lily’s face burned with humiliation. She turned to Lucas and Liam, her eyes glassy with unshed tears.
“Please. Let’s go. I don’t want to spend another minute here with him.”
Lucas’s jaw worked furiously as he fought to keep his rage in check.
His hands flexed, claws threatening to emerge. But he looked into Lily’s eyes and saw her desperation—and his shoulders slumped.
“Fine,” he muttered.
Liam exhaled a shuddering breath, his own rage a storm just barely contained.
“For you, Lily,” he said softly, brushing her cheek with his thumb.
They turned to leave, Lily protectively between the two towering Alphas.
As they reached the stairs leading back down from the rooftop, Ethan’s voice rang out behind them, high with laughter.
“Oh, don’t leave so soon!” he called mockingly. “You’re welcome to stay. I promise I’ll make it entertaining!”
Lucas stopped at the top step, his shoulders tense, but Lily placed a gentle hand on his arm.
“Please,” she whispered.
He nodded tightly, and together they descended the stairs, the sounds of Ethan’s laughter and the squeals of his girls echoing cruelly after them.
As they reached the ground floor, Lily looked up at the twins, her eyes filled with regret.
“I’m so sorry. I just wanted tonight to be perfect.”
Lucas shook his head and pulled her into a comforting embrace.
“It’s not your fault, Lily,” he murmured.
Liam placed a hand on her back, his own eyes dark with stormy protectiveness.
“We’ll make it up to you. I swear.”
But even as they stepped into the cool night beyond the building, Ethan’s mocking laughter still echoed in their minds, a haunting reminder of the beautiful evening that had slipped through their fingers.
