Chapter 61 Kill them,
Master Alistair was now sitting restlessly, staring intently at the door. He felt impatient; he missed his daughter terribly and wanted to hug her tightly.
Beside Master Alistair, his wife was doing the same. Since Camilla's disappearance, her heart had been aching even more, her soul shaken. She feared something bad would happen to Camilla; she would never let her only child suffer the same pain a second time.
Cancri, knowing how his two slaves felt, remained silent. He closed his eyes and propped his head up with his left hand. He simply waited for the seconds to pass, and he opened them as the hall door swung open.
"Daddy!" The voice broke the silence, hurried footsteps echoing loudly.
Cancri smiled. He could see his two daughters walking in, and a grown woman walking with a small baby in her arms.
"Come here," Cancri said.
The two little girls immediately approached their father, sat on Cancri's lap, and cuddled with him.
"How's Blance?" Cancri asked as he met the woman holding the small baby.
"Young Master is fine, the examination was very thorough."
Hearing the report, Cancri nodded. He glanced at his two daughters and felt pleased. Today... he was in a truly good mood, and today he wouldn't have to spend a fortune attacking the Xrezone family.
"Sir, are you sure they'll come?" asked Master Alistair.
Cancri didn't answer, but the small smile on his face was enough to tell the truth.
There were about fifty people in the room, seated neatly on Cancri's left and right sides, while Cancri sat in a large, throne-like chair.
These people were about a dozen golden-level elites, the rest mid-level and high-ranking executives.
"They're here," said the woman holding the baby. She quickly climbed the steps and stood to Cancri's right. The woman's eyes fixed intently on the door, and she soon smiled when she saw one of her friends arrive safe and sound.
"Cancri, my task is complete." Fedora smiled as she stood before Cancri. She glanced back and saw Zinan, who was walking rather slowly, carrying Camilla.
Fedora thought Zinan was truly walking like a snail. He seemed unwilling to give Camilla up, and he might regret coming here.
Zinan, who had been deliberately walking slowly, stopped. He looked straight ahead and met the eyes of the Golden Snake mafia leader. He was quite surprised... the man's appearance hadn't changed at all; even the Golden Snake leader, who was much older, looked younger than him.
"You've finally arrived," Cancri said.
Zinan, hearing the man's words, chose to smile. He resumed his steps and tightened his embrace around Camilla. He had been ready for this two days, but why did today feel so difficult? What should he do now?
"Terizla, you can take your daughter now." Cancri smiled, seeing firsthand how much Terizla had changed from the previous days.
Zinan, hearing Cancri's voice again, stopped in his tracks. The man looked at Mr. Alistair, who had stood up and was slowly approaching him. The man's face looked so relieved, his eyes glistening with tears, and Zinan was sure that Mr. Alistair loved Camilla very much.
For a moment... Zinan felt even more guilty. Not only had Camilla suffered because of her father's actions, but so had the people who loved her so much.
"Camilla..."
Zinan, who had been silent all this time, suddenly came to his senses and looked at Mr. Alistair. "I'm sorry, I shouldn't have done things like this. But now, after today, I won't do anything that will harm you again, sir."
Mr. Alistair didn't care. He immediately snatched Camilla from Zinan and kissed his daughter's face. He couldn't hide any longer; he burst into tears of relief.
Zinan, seeing this, felt even more useless. He took a deep breath and held back the pain as Mr. Alistair moved away from him.
Camilla... now the woman he adored had returned to the right person. He finally let go of what he wanted to hold on to. He let his feet stop walking and chose to remain silent. In his solitude, he would continue to stare at Camilla... he wouldn't approach just to hurt himself or her.
"Thank you," Mr. Alistair said as he continued to walk away.
Zinan, hearing those words, immediately focused his gaze and tried to smile. It was hard, but he had to do everything for Camilla's happiness. With this, he had also saved his family from the Golden Snake.
“Why did you give up and not fight me?” Cancri asked.
Zinan, questioned, tried to calm down and smiled. “In this case, I’m the one at fault, and besides, I didn’t want to do something stupid that would harm both of us.”
Cancri was quite impressed. He stroked his daughters’ hair and waited for Zinan to continue.
“I’ve also decided to lead the Xrezone family my way, and I’d like to offer you a partnership.”
Hearing Zinan’s words, Cancri grinned. “Cooperate?”
Zinan smiled.
“What makes you think that?” Cancri asked.
“Because I know you’re a strong ally,” Zinan replied.
Cancri kept a straight face, and then took a deep breath. “Before discussing cooperation, I want you to take care of Master Malaike and his son. They’re your father’s favorite slaves, aren’t they?”
Zinan stiffened, not expecting Cancri to go this far with him.
“I’m only helping my people, and of course, their wishes are the most important thing to me.”
Zinan swallowed hard, staring intently at Cancri.
“Kill them,” Cancri continued.
Hearing Cancri's request shocked Zinan, his eyes widening. "No, I can't do that."
Cancri, hearing Zinan's words, looked reluctant.
"I can't kill them, but I will imprison them."
Cancri immediately looked at Mr. Alistair. "Terizla, what do you think?"
Zinan, seeing this, also averted his gaze. He hoped that Mr. Alistair would be more forgiving and not ask such a thing of him. He had made a promise, and he couldn't break it. Well... even if promises to the dead were useless, as long as they didn't harm others, he would keep them.
"Return all the Malaike family's possessions, imprison them, and as for the Xrezone family... don't ever bother my family again."
Zinan, hearing Mr. Alistair's words, felt a little relieved. He looked at Camilla, who still had her eyes closed. Today, he had indeed maturely let Camilla go; he was willing to leave her.
Love doesn't have to possess, and although there's certainly pain, he can endure it all. He also doesn't want to force the situation, because not only will it hurt others, but it will hurt him more than anything.
"Zinan, what's your answer?" Cancri asked.
Zinan, once again questioned, immediately stopped to think, feeling extremely anxious.
"I know you're smarter than your father," Cancri said casually, watching Zinan's reaction.
Zinan looked at him with determination, then smiled to lighten the mood. "Okay, I'll do that."
