Chapter 60 Me? Why does it matter if you know who I am?
It was eleven o'clock at night, the rain still pouring heavily, lightning flashing and thunder cracking quite loudly. Danieru had just arrived at his mansion, and he quickly entered and stared at the dimly lit room.
The man then turned on the main light, and in an instant, the room suddenly brightened, somewhat dazzlingly for Danieru. He narrowed his pupils, stepped inside, then stopped and looked around. Danieru exhaled and decided to go to his room to rest peacefully.
The atmosphere was quiet, and the air was very cold. Heavy rain had fallen since eight o'clock, causing some traffic disruptions. If not for the thought of Camilla's relapse, Danieru would have slept in his apartment without hesitation. But... he didn't want to ignore Camilla; he also wanted to apologize for constantly telling her he loved her some time ago.
The man slowly walked towards the stairs, climbing them one step at a time, and stopped when he was almost at the top of the room. Danieru looked around, feeling a little gloomy and strange. The man felt like something bad had happened while he was gone, and unfortunately, he continued to feel unreasonably worried.
Shaking his head, Danieru tried to push away all his negative thoughts. He walked faster, wanting to discuss some things with Camilla.
It wasn't long before Danieru arrived at the bedroom door, which was still closed and quiet. He controlled his heartbeat and breathing, then reached out and turned the doorknob.
The room was very dark, and Danieru panicked. Camilla didn't like being in rooms that were too dark; she could even sleep soundly if the room was well-lit.
Danieru quickly turned on the main light in the room and looked everywhere, but couldn't find Camilla. He checked all the rooms in the room, but she was still gone.
Feeling this even more strange, Danieru ran out of the room and checked the other rooms upstairs, but he couldn't find Camilla.
"Camilla!" Danieru called.
Danieru got no answer, which only made him more panicked. He immediately went downstairs, checking every room. He still hadn't found Camilla, and he couldn't think any further.
"Camilla!" Danieru still hadn't received an answer. He walked towards the dining room, which seemed a little brighter; perhaps Camilla was there.
Danieru stopped in his tracks, looking at the food on the table and was quite shocked.
"Where's Camilla?" The man quickly left the dining room. He just wanted to see Camilla and make sure she was okay.
But just as he was about to leave the mansion, the house phone rang. Danieru's feet stopped. He didn't know who was calling his mansion at this time of night, but it could be something important.
The man approached the table, quickly picked up the phone, and exhaled softly.
"Your wife's cooking is delicious. Why don't you let her go and let her be mine again?"
Danieru's eyes widened. He didn't recognize the voice of the person speaking to him, and he had no idea what they were talking about. He remained silent, waiting for the person who had contacted him to continue.
"Ah... I shouldn't have let her go just yet. She's grown into a truly beautiful woman. And look... her body has become even more alluring."
"Who are you?" Danieru clenched his fists. He hadn't expected such a surprise upon returning to the mansion.
"Me? Why does it matter if you know who I am?"
Hearing this made Danieru's anger rise even more.
"Danieru Malaike, if I had known you would be so troublesome, you should have died when it happened."
Danieru remained silent, preferring to listen to the man's constant babbling on the other end. He wouldn't fight back, for he was afraid the man would do something bad to his wife. Some of the man's words on the other end felt very strange to him, and he didn't understand them all.
The man kept thinking about what had nearly killed him. Danieru took a deep breath; it seemed there were indeed too many secrets he hadn't known all this time. Starting with the photo he saw in his father-in-law's study, and now about the incident that could have killed him. The man had felt strange about several things all this time, but he couldn't reveal them easily.
"Do you want to know everything?" asked the man on the other end.
Danieru remained silent, staring at the clock on the wall, which continued to tick.
"But if I tell you everything, then you've already let this woman go."
Danieru, hearing this, became uncertain again. He remembered his time with Camilla and realized how beautiful the memories were. He tried to choose the right path. He desperately wanted to know all the past he might have forgotten, but he also didn't want to let Camilla go.
The promise he had made when they married echoed in his mind, and at that moment, he realized how important Camilla was. Camilla was a good friend, she was the one who always supported him, and he and Camilla were the two who always completed him.
"No, I don't need to know. I just need Camilla back," Danieru replied.
"Go ahead, you'll never find her again."
The phone disconnected, and Danieru felt his heart ache. Today he had met his first love, and today he had lost the friend who had always completed him. Happiness and sorrow came together, and it was certainly enough to make him weak.
Danieru put the receiver back in its cradle and exhaled slowly. He wouldn't lose, and he would soon find Camilla.
...
A man had just hung up the phone, looking happy and not expecting to see his girlfriend again so soon. He stared at the beautiful woman lying on the bed, her eyes closed, and he stepped forward to examine her face from a very close distance.
"Truly beautiful," the man murmured. He smiled again, then reached out and stroked her soft cheek. He remembered seeing her asleep on the sofa, looking so peaceful, and it made his kidnapping easier.
At first, he hadn't expected it to be this easy to get Camilla, his thoughts wandering to the events of just a few hours ago.
After receiving information that the second son of the Malaike family's head had begun to behave strangely, he ordered several of his subordinates to monitor Danieru's mansion.
He was quite grateful that Danieru had left the mansion for quite some time. The man stood up straight; now wasn't the time to vent his longing for the beautiful woman; he needed to immediately check the reports from the people who had been spying on Danieru and Camilla.
The man then stepped out of the room, locking the door from the outside and leaving several guards at the door to keep an eye on Camilla.
"Young Master, the Grand Master is waiting for you in his chambers."
The man exhaled a somewhat ragged breath. He couldn't avoid meeting his father now. As the successor, he needed to know everything about the Malaike family, and this way, he could control everything that would happen in the future.
As far as he knew, his father had worked closely with Danieru's father since they were young. The two were friends and had a promise of mutual benefit. But now, he had to continue the cooperation between the two families and take over for his father, who was quite old and ill.
"Watch this place carefully," he said. The man's feet immediately moved further; meeting his father was a good decision. Before his inauguration as leader, he had to maintain his mask and establish himself as someone who could be trusted completely.
After a few minutes of walking, the man finally arrived in front of his father's room. Two men were standing guard, both bowing to greet him.
"Open," the man said.
Without waiting for a second command, the guard immediately opened the door. The man entered and stared at the three men conversing inside.
The door closed again, and the man immediately walked over and sat down next to his father. He studied the man, who was certainly not much older than him, and now he was certain that he was the heir to the Malaike family.
“Zinan, what took you so long?”
Zinan grinned. "Business is business, a leader is a leader, and personal matters are still personal matters. Do you understand so far, Dad?"
The old man, who was none other than Zinan's father, simply chuckled. "Yes, as long as your personal matters don't lead you astray."
Zinan stared at Mr. Malaike and his eldest son, Hatsu. He was quite impressed with the shameless father and son now. I don't know... unlike his father, he felt that having a working relationship with these two people wasn't particularly profitable, let alone enjoyable.
"Let's get this discussion started," Zinan said, not wanting to waste any time.
"Okay," Zinan's father replied.
