Chapter 76 Chapter Seventy-Six

Chapter 76 Chapter Seventy-Six

Keira

I woke up the following morning to the sound of yelling. I winced a little, blinked through the blurry cloud hanging on my eyes. I turned, and stretched a little. My hands hit Kaelan in the process, and he stirred awake.

“You are awake?” He asked with a small smile.

“Yeah, thanks to the yelling downstairs.” I murmured with a frown. I stifled a yawn and sat up. For whatever reasons, I was still feeling sleepy despite how soundly I slept throughout the night. Plus my whole body felt weak, so weak that lifting a finger felt like a tedious chore to do.

I slowly moved down my bed. The marble floor felt cold against my feet. “And where are you going to?” I turned to Kaelan, a look of surprise on my face. “I am going downstairs to know the cause of the yells of course.”

“Yes, I can predict that much. I mean, where are you going without me?” He pasted on a look of fake look of hurt. “Don't you think we should go together?”

I sighed. “It's time for you to return to your pack, don't you have an unsolved riddle hanging over your head.”

He nodded. “And that was exactly why I came. I am thinking of setting out a trap for the spy in hiding. For whatever reasons, the spy hasn't make a move since Cassandra's death. So since they have decided not to do anything, I want to force them out of hiding.”

His words piqued my interest. I sat back down on the bed. “What is your plan?”

“Nothing serious. I just want to show that I already know about their existence.”

I rolled my tongue against the inside of my tongue. “How are you going to do that?”

He was about to respond when a knock came on the door. He clamped his mouth shut, his eyes trailed over my face to the door. “Come in.” He said.

The door pushed open, and Damien stepped inside. He bowed respectfully. “Uhm, pardon my interruption but,” He glanced my way. “Your attention is needed downstairs, Alpha.”

“Yes, yes, yes. I was actually about to go down. What the fuck is going on, what's with the commotion?” I asked.

I watched him swallow nothing, he looked like he was finding it difficult to voice out what he was about to tell us . “According to what I found out,” He finally started to talk. “Rumors has been flying about for sometime now since the news about you going after the Alpha king despite being in a marriage with the Alpha of Stormfang pack.”

Impatience cut through my flesh. “What rumors is that?”

“Fucking start talking.” I screamed, startling the both of us.

“That you are not the true heir to the Archibald's throne.” He said at last. His eyes were fixed on the floor.

“What!!?” I gasped. “Since when did you find out about this ridiculous rumor? And did you find out who started it?”

He shook his head. “It spread through pasting. It would have been much easier if the rumor was first spread by mouth, but in this case, it wasn't,” He sighed. “It is definitely going to be hard to find out who did it.”

“Was the content hand written?” Kaelan cut in before I could concur a response. “If so, we can analyze the handwriting. There is a high chance the culprit might have made someone to write down the words, so even if we get the person who wrote it, it won't be the main culprit but we at least, by then we will know where to face.”

“I agree with Kaelan. Take care of the crowd outside. And... What is Marienne doing?”

“I haven't seen her for days now.” Damien said.

“I was with her yesterday while I was having dinner. She said something annoying to me. Something like enjoying my dinner while my subjects are thinking of throwing me over the throne.”

“She makes it so obvious how much she wants the throne.” Kaelan said while I nodded.

“That is why it irritates the hell out of me that I haven't been able to get her red-handed. She always manages to do only things that matters to my health, and life as a whole. This is the perfect opportunity for her to push me out of the throne, I guess it is too big an opportunity for her to ignore. What a pathetic idiot.” I added almost under my breath.

“Just chase the crowd away, and call for a meeting please. I will be downstairs shortly.”

“Yes, Alpha.” He ducked a little before stepping outside.

I blew a breath. “Someone is giving me so much reasons to kill her.”

“You can let me do the killing instead, my darling wife.”

I chuckled softly when he reached out for my hands, and pulled me to himself. We both fell on the bed with me on top of him.
“I would have loved that, however, I think it's best she stays alive, and watch how all of her plans keeps going down the drain. That would be more heartbreaking than watching from hell.”

“I agree.” He said with an amused laugh.

“That aside. I have a question.” I balled my palms into fists, pressed them on the bed to the sides to support my weight. “Any news about who dug my father's grave?”

“Not really.”

“You know I was threatened. Only one person in the entire of Mooncrest pack made her intentions known that she hates it that I won't give up the throne for her. Marienne. It has to be her, she is the culprit, no one else would have done that if not her.” I said.

“In as much as I don't like her, don't you think you need to first investigate first, and have enough evidence that proofs she is the culprit, or someone else is?”

“There is no need for any fucking investigation.” I sat up. “Okay, let's say she wasn't the one behind it. First, before you took me to your pack after your little trick. I am yet to forgive you, but that isn't the issue now. You remember her saying we should merge both packs together, in that way I would have no choice but to join you over there as your Luna princess, amd rule alongside you.”

“And that would mean there would be a need for someone to take care of our people here. The perfect choice would be Damien but Marienne knowing what she wants won't let him live to rule. It's already obvious she doesn't love him, so killing him won't even leave a scratch on her skin.”

“Sorry for interrupting. Do you mean to say the reason why she couldn't do a thing while you were with me over at Shadowmoon pack was because we were yet to merge both packs together, and Damien was yet to be made the official acting Alpha of Mooncrest pack?”

“Exactly.” I nodded. “You are beginning to understand me now. On the day I came to Mooncrest pack, Marienne offered me money to give up on the throne. I refused immediately. I am certain she went ahead to do that because she knew Damien would advise me to go see my father, so she carried out that atrocious act before my arrival to the venue. I am certain about this because the digging still looked fresh. It looked like it was done hours before my coming with Damien.”

“Let's say this was done by some people out there who got about digging out corpses. Do you think they will have a reason to threaten me about my father's throne, a throne that rightfully belongs to me? How the fuck would they have known I was going to be there? Of course, they won't have known except if Damien told someone of our impended visit there, or if Marienne was stalking my moves all along.”

I paused for a quick breath. “Other than the above mentioned reasons why I suspect Marienne. This is another one; how was an intruder able to get to my father's corpse if there wasn't help from inside?”

Kaelan was quiet. Of course, he had to be. Because why in earth would he ever say I needed to first investigate before concluding Marienne was the culprit?

Do I even need to do that when she made it as clear as the sky that she would do absolutely anything to have me out of the throne?

“Right now,” I continued when he said nothing. “I am going to make her start confessing to all of her sins one by one. Starting from the corpse issue. She is going to tell me herself where she kept my late father's corpse.”

“If you ever need my help with breaking bones,” He winked at me. “I am here.”

“Yes, I am definitely going to need your help with leaving my pack. How home to your people, I can take care of Marienne. Have you forgotten...?” I placed my hands on my hips. “I was trained to be a beta, torturing people like her is one of my thing. Don't think because I haven't torture anyone in a long while, that means I have gone soft.”

“So do you think you can beat me in a fight?” He asked, a teasing smile sported his face.

“You want to try? Wait,” I raised a hand. “Is this a challenge?”

“Are you up for it?”

I clicked my tongue. “What is in for the winner?”

“Maybe some kisses.” He answered. That teasing smile was still there in his face. “Or you don't want that?”

“Just say you want to be kissed. In that case, both the loser, and the winner would benefit.” I scrunched my face a little. “I don't want that.”

“What then do you want?” He asked almost immediately.

“I want you to go back to your pack, and stop popping up in my room like some sorcerer.”

“I wish I can help it.” He turned, and laid on his side. “But I can't, I told you before, thirty minutes without you by my side always feels like death. Much worse than that. And yet you want me to come seeing you.”

“Come on, I never said you should stop coming to see me. I only said you should stop showing up without prior notice.”

“Don't blame me if I promise you, and end up breaking it.” He gestured with his index finger for me to move closer. I obliged almost immediately. He wrapped his hands around my waist when I got close enough.

“I missed you so fucking much.” he said in a muffled voice.
“You we're here since last night, we had sex, and you slept over. Right now, you are holding on tight to my waist, and you say you missed me.”

“I miss you all the time baby, if there is a way for me to fuse my body with yours, I won't hesitate to do that.”

“Well, technically we are one already. Our wolves are bonded, there is no place you'd be that I can't find you–”
“Yes, yes, I know about that, but that is different Keira.” He raised his head up, and sat up without letting go of my waist. “I want you beside me at all times, I don't want you to be far away from me.”

“Say's someone who chased me back from his pack.”

“I am not blaming you.” I continued immediately when I saw him open his mouth to retort. “I know there is a reason why you did that, let's resolve the issue at hand first, after that we will talk about us. Are you okay with that?”

“I have no choice.”

I laughed softly. He opened his arms which I gladly fell into with a soft sigh. “Are you up for a quickie before I go for my meeting?” my voice was small.

He was quiet for a second. “The logical part of me wants to say they've been waiting for you for close to an hour now, however, the part of me which loves your pussy thinks another thirty minutes without you isn't bad at all.”

I giggled. “Let's make it quick then.”

“I don't mind going to rounds though.” He murmured just before his palm touch my breast, giving it a light squeeze.
