Chapter 77 Chapter Seventy- Seven

Keira

“You don't need someone like me huh?” My eyes drifted from one man to the other. All of them looked away.

After I left my room. I came inside the throne room to meet hushed murmurings, and hisses from the people gathered inside. I simply shook my head. Someone was trying really hard.

“And why do you think you don't need me?” My eyes returned to the person who said they didn't need someone like me anymore. “Why?” I repeated. My voice was a notch higher.

He fell silent. “No words to say?” I stood up from.my throne, and slowly moved towards where he stood looking everywhere on the floor but my face. “Look at me when I am talking to you.” I snapped at him, he immediately looked up to meet my face.

“Who fed your brain with words that made you suddenly had a change of heart against me?” I stopped a step away from him. “Did someone pay you to raise your voice here?” My voice went calm again.

He said nothing. Instead he swallowed down–probably the anxiousness, and nervousness in his blood–and bowed his head.

I chuckled softly. This was definitely going to be fun.

I added another step closer to him. I could almost feel, and smell the fear in his body. His eyes emitted pure fear which he obviously was trying hard to tamper down. He flinched a little when I jabbed a finger at his chest. “So everyone in here is against me now, is that it?” I took a quick glance around.
No one uttered a word.
“I suppose bone of you in here is deaf, right? I asked a question, am answer is what I need. Are all of you in here against my being the Alpha of Mooncrest pack?”

“If that was the case,” The door to the throne room pushed open, and Marienne walked inside. Her son tagged behind her as always.

Tch. I think I am about to puke.

“Are you going to step down from the throne?” She smiled sweetly at me.

A snicker rose to my neck. I softened it down with a chuckle. I moved away from the man, and walked in the direction where Marienne stood sending fake smiles my way. “I didn't expect you'd return so soon from your outing.”

“I heard you called for a meeting, I had no choice but to leave all I was doing behind, and come make my presence known.” She leaned into me. “Is that bad, or does my presence–”

“I am glad you know. It makes me want to puke. I will advise you to leave this instant. Or you can chose to stay if you enjoy having puke stain allover your clothes.

Lucian retched while I smiled dryly. ”Your so-called mother is trying her very best to have me thrown out of the throne, to the extent that she planted words in the mind of my subjects so they'd start to think I am a wrong choice. No,” I shook my head a little. “She is almost succeeding in making them think I have always been a wrong choice to begin with.”

I heard his scoff. “There is no doubt that you are never, and would never be the right choice for the throne of Mooncrest pack.” His voice was low, but it held a certain kind of emotion I couldn't decipher.

What was it?

I waved the thoughts aside immediately. Whatever emotion it was holding down his voices, I didn't care a bit about it.

Marienne faces the crowd. “Everyone,” She clapped her hands in the air. A quick effort to draw attention. “Who wants an Alpha who goes about with men?”

“No one.” A voice responded. Then two, which turned three, finally, different voices responded positively.

I was sure a look of amusement sat on my face. Yeah, I was certainly feeling amused.

Marienne continued on with her madness while I watched with arms crossed. “Who wants an Alpha who doesn't care for her people, one who doesn't have a true mate let alone talk of bonding to with her mate. Who wants someone like her as their Alpha?”

All of them yelled out their displeasure. Wow, Marienne must have spent a huge amount of money to make them bed to her will with ease.

“Very well then, if you all don't want me who is the last child of the late Alpha, and direct heir to the Archibald's throne, who else do you think would fit perfectly for the position?“ I turned to the side, and pointed at Marienne. “If you all think she is the perfect plan,” I clicked my tongue. “It is better I burn Mooncrest to the grounds than allow someone like her sit in my throne.”

“Who said I am doing all of this because i want to sit on the throne?” Marienne cut in.

“Then,” I spread my arms, shrugging a little. “Who is the lucky candidate you have in mind? Definitely not him, right?” I murmured while my eyes looked her son from head to toe.

“Is there anything wrong with him being the Alpha?”

“You should decide that after I am dead.” I dropped my arms. “You didn't think for a minute that I would go down without a fight, right? Ah, I really don't want to fight at all because I always end up leaving my enemies either dead, or close to death door. In some rare cases, my enemies might sustain injuries that would refrain them from moving about for life.”

Without another word, or waiting for her to retort, I walked back to my throne. I paused for a minute, ran a quick finger on the soft fabric, then turned around, and lowered myself down on the seat. “Now, whoever wants to go against me, that person should come forward and challenge me as to why I can not be the Alpha of Mooncrest pack.” I paused midway, smacked at my bottom lips like I was searching for the perfect words to use.

“And if that person's main line of argument centers on the news which circulated few days ago. That person would present evidence which states that I am married to the Alpha of Stormfang pack at the time I married the Alpha king.” My eyes searched the sea of different faces as I talked. No one made a move.

As they should.

“Do you still want to go ahead with this, dear Aunt?”

Marienne glared at me. “You–” The door pushed open again for the second time. Whatever she was about to say died in her throat, or on the tip of her tongue. Whichever.

Kaelan walked inside. His eyes was on no one else but me. His aura covered the entire room the moment he entered, suffocating almost everyone. Everyone went on their knees with their head bowed, and that included Marienne, and her son. “Greetings, Alpha king.” They all chorused.

Kaelan walked up to me, ignoring them like they weren't there. “Are you okay?” He asked on reaching where I was sitting. He cupped my face, his thumb rubbed gently on my cheek. “You look tired,” He pointed. “And it hasn't been up to an hour since you left me. Tell me, did they irritate you?”

“Uhm, I am fine. Except that a certain person keeps crossing too many lines, and it is irritating as hell.” I muttered. “And now, that particular person has make almost everyone in this room to grow a seed of distrust for me. She wants the people to show their dislike for me, so she'd have the perfect opportunity to throw me out of the throne. Take the news scandal for an instance.”

Kaelan dropped his hands, inhaled deeply before turning round. “First of all, I don't see how my wife's personal issue has got anything to do with her office affairs, but let me make this clear in the presence of all present here. My wife, your Alpha has got nothing to do with the Alpha of Stormfang pack. She was once his wife, but now, they are divorced, and she is officially my wife, and my dated mate.”

Low gasps rose from the small crowd.

“Silence.” Kaelan roared. “Anyone wo dares to talk about her throne in a negative way will have me to deal with. Trust me, I don't leave remains, not even bones.”

“Pardon me to say this your highness,” Marienne stood up from her kneeling position.

“You are not any better than all these people whose knees are on the floor, or are you?”

“I–I mean, I–” Marienne stuttered.

“Return to the position you were in if you wish to talk, otherwise, you can continue while lying down. Without your legs.”

I didn't miss the look of horror on Marienne's face after Kaelan said he was going to cut off her legs if she didn't kneel before talking to him. If I could, I'd find a way to take a photo of the horrific look on her face.
It was pure ecstasy.
