Chapter 73 Chapter Seventy- Three
Chapter 73 Chapter Seventy- Three
Keira
My eyes kept flickering in a fuzzy routine at the news headline. I still didn't want to believe Aiden could be so stupid to try to hold me down with such rumors. I scoffed lightly when I reached a part where the news read 'A married woman going about flirting with the Alpha king of Shadowmoon pack'
What the the actual hell?
Two weeks, and Aiden decided he had gathered enough guts to taint my image. I rubbed at my face, pressing down on it gently. Let's see how far he can go.
I flung my phone down, and climbed down my bed, the door to my room opened just then.
I didn't bother to turn around. Only a mad person would dare venture inside my room without knocking. We have only one such person in the whole of Mooncrest pack. Marienne. “I don't remember requesting the services of a maid.” I said, my voice was calm.
“Let's see if you can still say that after seeing this.” She whistled softly, while I turned to her with a snicker. She was flashing her phone to my face, I took one uninterested glance at the phone, then returned my eyes on her. “Is that the reason why you barged into my room without knocking?” I folded my hands behind my back. “You keep making my desire to kill you increase every second, tell me,” I took one lazy step forward. “What part of my words did you not understand?”
“The part why you can't give up your position as the Alpha.”
I snorted. “What is this? An obsession.” A chuckle slipped out my throat. “Don’t you think you should give it up already, like it or not, I am already your Alpha, you can't change that.”
“Oh,” She waved her hand which held the phone at my face. “That won't be necessary my dear, because you dare to lie to the people of Mooncrest pack, we don't think we want someone like you as our Alpha.”
“Really?” I threw my head backwards, and laughed. “So, on what grounds do you stand to tell me that?”
“You are married already, yet you had the guts to make the Alpha king marry you, so you can fool us all.” She wrinkled her face to show her disgust. “What a cheap trick to resort to. Was it that you were so elated on hearing you are related to the late Alpha, you couldn't bear to lose the throne to us. Still, I couldn't imagine you had it in you to do such a thing.”
“And who said I am losing the throne to anyone?” I brought my hands to the front, and crossed them against my chest. “If you don't have anything better to spit out,” I gestured towards the door, “Make use of the door.”
“Very soon, after the whole of Mooncrest pack have decided your faith, you will be the one leaving. And just for a little heads-up, reporters are everywhere waiting for their Alpha's assurance which I doubt you have any to give.”
“I'd like to think you are the one feeding the reporters on what to do, and say. Now, get the fuck out of my room Marienne.”
She glared hard at me, before stomping out of my room.
After the door closed behind her, I lowered myself down on my bed, I buried my face into my palms. I had no idea how long I stayed in that position, or how I fell on my bed, and dozed off. When I stirred up from my slumber, Someone was looking at me.
I blinked through my hazy eyes. “Kaelan?”
“You sound surprised.” I watched him shift close, he touched me gently on the face, brought his face closer, and pressed a soft kiss ony cheek. “Or you don't like it as I am here?” He asked.
“You know the answer better than I do.” I struggled to stifle a yawn, which was a failure. “But did you come to see me, or you came for an entire different reason?” I eyed him.
“Whichever you think I came for.” His expression turned a fold serious. “Are you okay?” His fingers rubbed my face. “I came down immediately I was sure I had dealt with the news company who aired the issue. Don't worry about the news spreading. In fact,” He stopped moving his finger. “Allow me take care of this, if only you had just let me take care of them last two weeks.” He grumbled. “Killing them won't leave any scratch on me, yet you disapproved despite how much you want the bastard dead. Now, they are attacking you after forgetting how you were the one who pleaded for their lives.” he dropped his hand down on the bed.
“What are you going to do to them?” I asked like I didn't know what he was likely to do. Torture them to their deaths probably.
“Make them regret not being grateful for their spared lives.” He shifted closer to me, his knees brushed slightly against my thigh. “After I am done with them, they will hate ever harboring the idea of trying to paint you black in a bid to bring you down.”
“Allow me witness the scene.”
“No.” He answered abruptly, startling me a bit.
“Why?” I stared at him in confusion.
“You might want to stop me again.”
“I didn't stop you that day because I wanted to, I know you don't hesitate to kill anyone who offends you, however, it was an open place.”
“I don't mind. As long as you are involved, I don't mind killing whoever offends you be it in public or anywhere else.”
“Well... I can only hope no one does offend me.” I slowly sat up. “Now, with the fake news down, I have only one problem left to solve.”
“What problem is that?” Kaelan wrapped his hands around my waist, he rested his head on my thigh.
“How to clean up the mess Marienne injected in the minds of my subjects thanks to Aiden foolishness.”
