Chapter 89

Alessia's Pov

I'd been holding back the puke, trying my best not to mess things up.

With my breath hanging in my nose pipes and my tongue twisted, I handed Aloha the sacred wooden bowl of an undefinable concoction which she made me carry round the kingdom all morning.

I couldn't hold back anymore. This was my peek.

I scrammed out of the white circle to a corner of the forestry area to spill my guts. I didn't expect Aloha to appear behind me and sprinkle some water on my face.

This was all Melanie's fault. I'd asked her to let me have just fruits for breakfast but she wouldn't listen!

“I'm sorry.’’ I apologised weakly as I stood, lights sipping out of me.

“It's okay. How do you feel now?’’ Aloha answered, stopping her enchants to approach me, clearly not pissed by my misconduct.

It felt somewhat weird as Aloha gently reached behind me, running a hand softly on my back. But it turned out more soothing than weird to decline.

“Have I messed things up?’’ I asked, hoping I wouldn't have to take that stinky concoction round the kingdom once again.

“It's fine dear, we can proceed when you're well enough.’’ She smiled lightly.

“I think I'm good to go now.’’ I addressed eagerly. That puke was simply stirred by the smell of the concoction reaching my nose while we strolled the kingdom.

Wiping my hands against the white cotton material over my waist, I pushed my legs back into the circle to continue the rituals.

I was more than excited when Aloha announced the end of today's conduct. All I wanted aside from the silly strong craving for cotton candy that seemed almost unignorable, was laying flat on my bed to sleep.

“My lady!’’ Melanie rushed up to help me as we stepped out of Aloha’s abode.

I noticed Cyril by the car. He saw us too but chose not to come close.

“Be gentle and avoid stress at this time.’’ Aloha’s voice reached my ears, soft and encouraging.

Whatever that was about, I appreciated it with a polite nod.

Melanie helped me to the car, while Cyril eventually moved to meet Aloha. I was a bit surprised to see Alan at the steering wheel, and a memory from the previous day at the music room flashed through my mind.

“Uh.. Alan! Hi.’’ I greeted, not appreciating the slight awkwardness that seemed to suddenly grow in the haze.

“Oh, hello Mrs Weverse. Been a while.’’ He waved shortly.

Silence descended the haze once again. Just maybe if I hadn't experienced the drama with Melanie and Alan yesterday, it would have felt less unconducive waiting in the quietness for Cyril.

“Do you still think I'm okay after hearing this? I weirdly crave cotton candies!’’ I exclaimed, hoping to steer some reaction, at least to keep the air lively.

But Cyril approached just then, causing Alan to step out of the car while Melanie kept throwing disturbing stares as he did.

“Is there something going on with you both?’’ I presented calmly, so as not to leave her any suspicions on my knowledge.

“No. There's nothing.’’ She shook her head shortly, turning to the glass window.

Cyril joined in with Alan holding out his door and shutting it after him. He returned back behind the steering wheel and started the engines.

My curiosity only grew wider and wider, my stares lingering consistently on Alan's hair since he has his back to us in the backseat. My gaze shifted at some point, and my heart skipped to catch Cyril's intense gaze on me.

I looked away instantly, my mind fidgeting.

The weirdness in his gaze was nothing to be surprised about. For how long had he been watching me? He probably saw me staring stupidly at Alan the whole time, wouldnt he come to me with questions later?

I'd messed everything up!

“We're here.’’ Alan grumbled out grudgingly.

Melanie stepped out first, holding the door open for me.

“Alessia.’’ Cyril called out with a sense of urgency, bringing my feets to a rough halt.

Well of course. As expected of him!

“I'll head in first.’’ Melanie excused herself, scurrying in unnaturally.

Cyril snatched my wrist in a warm grasp, sending goosebumps all over my skin as he turned me over to face him. I could swear that caught worry in his eyes, but I chose to react nonchalantly to it.

“Is there a problem?’’ I asked with high cheekbones.

“Shouldn't I be the one asking that?’’ He threw back, sweeping his gaze over my body before bringing them back to my face.
“Have you felt somewhat sick of recent?’’ He asked again.

I couldn't understand why he was being so weird.

“Well… I've indeed felt slightly sick since yesterday, I think I need to see a doctor.’’ I said thoughtfully, running through memories in my head of how weak my body seemed to be recently.

“Why didn't you say anything about it since?’’ Cyril snapped suddenly, knocking me out of my thoughts.

Was he scolding me right now?

A scoff left my lips in disbelief, parting my lips to speak. “I-I don't.. get it….’’

“Little wonders! I thought it was really weird when she spoke about craving cotton candies earlier. I think she's really ill.’’ Alan showed up before us from nowhere.

“Okay, what the hell is going on here?’’ I huffed, not taking pleasure in their messing around at all.
“Get Alfred. Make it the fastest it can be.’’ Cyril ordered.

“Yes, my king.’’ Alfred departed.

“Come with me.’’ Cyril pulled me with him. I almost stumbled over my sandals.

“Hey, let go of me!’’ I dragged my arm from him, hot air breezing off my nostrils with ire in my heart.
“What is wrong with you? What's with the sudden misbehaviour?’’ I barked.

“Come with me.’’ He stated calmly, physically struggling to keep his real emotions in check.

“No, I won't!’’

“Come with me, Alessia.’’ He urged, his palm stretched out with his gaze intensely fixed on my arm.

“Not if it's against my will!’’ I insisted.

“You're with a fucking pub in your belly but who’s the father?’’ He exploded, dropping a dynamite in my heart at his appalling outburst.
