Third Person POV

Cynthia was lying on the hospital bed with her whole body covered with sweat. She was tossing her head from left to right while the rest of her body felt tied to the bed with invisible ropes. Her breaths came out in short broken gasps as she tried to hold on to something. She wanted to run, scream, and save her child but she couldn't.

Cynthia's POV

"Aurora!"

I shouted as I ran behind Adrian in my wedding gown to get my daughter back.

My baby was reaching for me with her tiny face drenched in tears.

"Mumma! Save me!"

"Adrian, stop!" I screamed, but no sound came out.

The more I tried to run behind him, the farther I was getting from him.

And then suddenly he stopped. My breath caught in my throat as he turned around.

"You chose him, Cynthia. Now watch what happens to the things you love."

"NO!" I screamed at the top of my lungs.

And then suddenly Aurora disappeared from her arms.

"Aurora!" I sat up screaming, and this time, it was for real.

My vision was completely blurry,y blurry and my senses were functioning properly. My head was dizzy. I didn't know where I was or what I was doing.

My heart was hammering against my ribs so hard it felt like it would crack the bone. My breath came in jagged, shallow gasps as I tried to catch a daughter who wasn't there.

Slowly my vision started getting clear, the smell of lilies was replaced by the sharp, biting scent of antiseptic and bleach.

"Mrs. Vale, please, stay calm!" I heard a feminine voice urging me.

I scanned the surroundings to find myself in the hospital. I looked down at my hands. They were shaking uncontrollably. Thin strings of IV lines were taped to the back of my hand.

To me, they looked like shackles.

I reached down and ripped the medical tape from my skin.

"Ma'am! Calm down!" The nurse shouted and tried to hold me down but I was filled with the primal urge to reach my daughter.

I will be fine once I see her.

"Doctor! Doctor!" The nurse called out and the doctor appeared.

Both of them were trying to keep me calm and still on the bed so that they could inject me with some drug but I didn't want to.

I just want to see my daughter.

"Ma'am please! This way you will hurt your baby"

"Get off me!" I shoved them away.

"Call her husband" the doctor ordered.

My eyes widened in shock.

Husband?

Am I married to Adrian?

Did Lucien never come?

I started sweating more. My heart was pumping so loud in my chest I was shocked how it didn't burst out yet.

But what I saw gave me some relief. Lucien came running inside like a madman. He looked like he had been through a war.

"Cynthia" he called softly.

"Lucien" I cried and tried to reach for him but my body didn't have any energy.

He sat beside me and immediately took me into a big hug.

"Lucien"

I cried on his chest.

"Shhh, shh, Cynthia. I am here" he cooed in my ear but that didn't stop my tears.

I cried more on his chest, clutching his shirt tightly while he stroked my back and asked the doctors to leave.

Softly, he pulled back and took my face in between his palms. He leaned down to kiss my forehead and rub my tears with the pad of his thumbs.

"I... I had a bad dream, Lucien" my voice broke.

"What?" He asked.

"Adrian" my lower lip wobbled "he took my baby. He took my Aurora"

I cried and his body stiffened.

"Where is she, Lucien?" I asked gripping him tightly, the fear of the dream wasn't gone completely "Tell me, she is sleeping, that you saved her too."

He remained silent.

"Say something, Lucien. Please!"

He swallowed hard.

The flicker of agony in his expression terrified me to the core.

"He has her, Cynthia," he whispered, looking down and my whole body turned ice "He took her"

A long silence followed his words. The silence felt deadly. It ripped my heart into two.

I shook my head as a shaky breath left my mouth.

"Tell me, Lucien... Tell me you are lying" I forced a smile "I know you are lying"

He remained silent. I took his chin and made him look into my eyes.

"Cynthia, he took her" he said it again "But I swear, I will bring her back to you soon"

"Soon?" I asked "I want her now! Lucien, how could you let him take her away!"

He licked his lips. I pushed him away.

"I am going to him right now! I want my baby"

"No!" He grabbed my wrist "You are not going to him. He will cage you"

"I don't care!" I snapped and tried to stand up.

But he didn't let me.

"Leave me, Lucien!" I shouted but all my efforts went to vain. He didn't let me go.

I panted heavily looking into his eyes.

"Alister must know where Adrian had taken Aurora"

Lucien remained silent. I grabbed his collar and shook him violently.

"I am expecting an answer, Lucien. I don't want your silence!"

"He does" he said in a barely audible and very low voice.

"Then ask him please. I just want my Aurora. If something happened to her, I wouldn't be able to live"

My body was completely out of energy. I can't move when I wanted to rush out of this fucking hospital and hunt down the entire city to find my lifeline.

"Lucien, please!" I begged "Your silence is killing me"

"He is ready to bring back Aurora and remove Adrian from our way"

I breathed when I saw a ray of hope.

"Than what's stopping you!"

He swallowed hard.

"He... He wants me to get married to Sophia" he breathed out "Today itself"

I fell silent but my mind only had one image and that was of my daughter, Aurora. I wanted her free from the clutches of Adrian. The man who won't think twice before hurting my baby.

"Then, marry her"

Lucien's eyes snapped at me in shock.

"Yes Lucien" I swallowed "marry her" I said looking straight into his eyes. "This time I am not bluffing. I am actually asking you to marry her"

"How could you say that Cynthia? Don't you love me?"

I swallowed down the lump in my throat. I love him. I love him more than he could think, but "I love Aurora, too"

Small tears came up in his eyes.

"In all these years I have learnt to live without you" I blinked and breathed heavily "but I can't live without her. She is an inseparable part of my body. Without her, I cannot live"

"I love her too, Cynthia. I will bring..."

"No Lucien" I cut him off "I cannot take any risk with my daughter. When I told you about our plan, I always made sure of Aurora's safety. At least she was with me"

My lips and hands shook badly as thick hot tears dribbled down my face.

"Now I don't even know how my baby is doing. She must be crying for me. She will be traumatized for her life. I don't want her to hate me. Please, Lucien. Please."

Lucien's eyelids dropped down to my stomach.

"I... I can't accept anyone else. I love you"

"Then prove it"

His eyes snapped back to my face.

"Prove it, Lucien that you love me. Mary Sophia and bring me my daughter"

He kept his hand softly over mine.

"You will start accepting her the day I leave your life forever"
