Chapter 66 Chapter 66

Chapter 66 Chapter 66
My eyes widened at his announcement.

"I don't love you like that, Adrian!" The words tumbled out of my mouth and the silence that followed was even more terrifying than his shouting.

His face went completely blank. He looked at me for a long, quiet minute before he casually said, "I don't care"

"What?" I asked in disbelief.

"I don't care if you love me," he repeated, stepping closer again. "I love you enough for both of us."

My eyes narrowed at him.

"Right now, I am the only safety you have. You think you can go back out there with a pregnancy and a toddler and Alister Vaughn’s goons looking for you? You will be destroyed in a week."

"But that doesn't mean I will marry you" I spat "I don't see any security with you too and you can't force me into a relationship"

"You are going to marry me, and you are going to handle that... situation... in your womb and that's final." He breathed out "We are going to be the family I have dreamed of, and I don't care if I have to force you into a relationship"

I scrambled to the other side of the bed, reaching for my phone on the nightstand. I needed to call someone. Anyone. I would even call Lucien at this point.

I quickly unblock him but before I could make a call, Adrian grabbed my wrist.

"Let go!" I screamed, using my free hand to claw at his arm.

I sank my nails into his skin but he doesn't seem to care. He didn't even flinch.

"I helped you at every point of your life. I became your shoulder when you needed one. I became your shelter, your home. He just let you walk out of his house with his daughter, yet you are still crawling back to him?" He sneered.

I breathed heavily. I didn't know what I was doing; all I knew was that I didn't feel safe here. Suddenly, he snatched the phone out of my grasp.

"Give it back!" I lunged for it, but he was faster. He shoved me back onto the bed.

I had to stop myself for the life in my womb. This man won't think twice before manhandling me and killing my baby in the process.

My palms rose to clamp my ears when he smashed the phone against the wall with full force. The phone shattered with a loud crash.

My hands were shaking uncontrollably, and I was struggling to breathe.

Aurora!

Her thoughts filled me with new vigour. I immediately stepped down from the bed and tried to walk towards the door but once again he caught my wrist and pulled me against his chest.

"Leave my hand, Adrian. Let me go!" I cried, gasping for air.

He twisted my wrist painfully and leaned down to whisper in my ear. "Where will you go, Cynthia?" he asked. "You have nowhere"

My eyes stung with tears. I truly had nowhere to go, but I knew I couldn't stay here. The place I thought was my sanctuary was now a cage. The man I thought was my savior was actually a monster.

"That's your illusion, Adrian. I am enough on my own. I can raise both my kids without your kind of man!" I spat.

He just chuckled.

"Let me go, Adrian. I will go to the police if..."

"Police?" He laughed "How cute"

Abruptly he whirled me around and pressed me against his chest. My wrist was still twisted at my back. This was the closest I have ever come to Adrian. He has always maintained his distance with a perfect facade of a gentleman.

"And what will you tell the police?" He asked in a mocking tone "That I am looking after a mentally unstable woman? Are you delusional because of a difficult pregnancy? Who do you think they will believe, Cynthia? The man who has taken care of you for five years, or the woman who ran away from a billionaire only to show up at a station with a history of hiding and a legacy of debt?"

I stopped struggling. My body became lumpy with the weight of his words. He knew every one of my weaknesses because I had handed them to him on a silver platter.

"You are a coward," I spat, my lower lip trembling. "You waited until I was at my lowest to show who you really are."

"And who brought you to this lowest?" He asked "Lucien!"

He paused, intentionally.

"Instead of blaming him, you are blaming me?"

I swallowed.

"Why can't you see Lucien just wants a plaything. But I... I want the life we were supposed to have."

"I don't want either of you!" I stated "I want to live alone with my daughter"

"And what about all those years that I wasted for you?"

"I am thankful for the help but never once did I stop you from engaging in a relationship. Did I?"

His eyes narrowed at me along with his hold on my wrist.

"I never wanted anyone else than you and it's enough of waiting. Now, you are going to be mine. You want it or not!" He spat.

"You can't force me like this!"

"I can do the worse"

And with that, he just pushed me onto the bed. I placed my hands before my stomach.

"Adrian, please! Don't do this!" I turned on my back. "Aurora will be scared of you. Please!" I screamed.

"As long as you listen to me, Aurora will be fine!" He snapped "I am giving you a few more hours to make up your mind for being mine without another sin in your womb!"

He stepped out of the room, and before I could reach the door, he slammed it shut and locked it from the outside.

"Adrian! Open this door!" I screamed, pounding my fists against the wood. "Adrian!"

"Rest, Cynthia," his voice came muffled through the door "You have had a long day. I will come back when you have calmed down and you are ready to be my wife."

At the moment, I wasn't scared for myself. I was concerned for Aurora. She was out there, sleeping in his room.

Adrian is blinded by rage at this time. I don't want him to hurt my baby girl.
