Chapter 67 Chapter 67

Chapter 67 Chapter 67
Lucien's POV

The crystal decanter of scotch hit the wall of my study, shattering into pieces. The liquid dripped down the wall, mirroring the mess my life had become because of my father.

Cynthia believes that I am weak. That I can't take a stand for her but she doesn't know my helplessness. I did that for my...

My palms dragged down my face as I let out a roar.

I have tried to reach out to her but she has blocked my number. I want to see her and Aurora once. I am going mad without them.

My knuckles burst when I slammed my fists against the mahogany table.

Every time I close my eyes, her face flashes. I can't forget the look of pure disgust that she had when she left me.

And the worst part was, I deserved it.

I should have spoken up against my father! I bear all his tortured but now it was about my daughter and the love of my life.

No matter how hard I try, I cannot hate Cynthia, not after knowing the truth that she never married Adrian.

She was always mine!

Somewhere, she also still loves me that's why she couldn't accept anyone else in her life. She had the hope that at least this time I would stand up for her and I failed again.

I don't deserve to be a father.

I don't!

Suddenly my phone rang. The call was from the head of security.

"Hello," I picked up the call almost instantly.

"Sir" his voice came from the other side of the call.

"Tell me you found them," I rasped, my voice sounding like I had swallowed glass.

"The car was spotted on a traffic cam near the city outskirts three hours ago, but..."

"But what?" I barked.

"She has sold the car" he informed me.

"What?"

"Yes sir" he replied "The new owner purchased it from some local mechanic. So he doesn't know anything about her"

"You should have taken the address of that mechanic!" I sounded desperate.

I was actually too desperate.

After years, finally, I got her in my arms and I just let her go so easily. I could never forgive myself for this.

"We tried but he didn't reveal anything. He said, he is ready to give all the information legally, in the court but not like that"

"Fuck!" My hand moved up to pull a hair strand.

I thought she might go to Adrian's house but it was also locked from the outside.

I let out a breath I didn't know I was holding. If she wasn't with him, she was alone. The thought of her and my daughter in some dingy motel or a cramped apartment made my blood boil. I had billions at my disposal, yet I couldn't provide a roof for the only two people who made this life worth living.

Where are you, Cynthia?

"Lucien."

The cold and calculated voice filled my office. I didn't have to turn around to know my father had entered the room.

"You look pathetic, Lucien," father said, the clinking of ice in a glass signaling that he had helped himself to a drink. "Wrecking your office over a common girl and a child who..."

"Father don't!" I cut him off "Don't test my patience. It's enough!"

He never liked anyone interrupting him but this time he chuckled.

"I can see what that girl has once again done to you. You have grown wings. Have you forgotten..."

"I am no longer a kid whose life you can control! I have my own life and I have all the rights to choose with whom I want to spend it"

He smirked again.

"I also didn't want to spend life with your mother but I did" he took a sip "This world works like this"

"Then I don't want to be a part of this world"

"You have no choice. You were born into this"

My fists clenched tightly. Just for a moment, I wanted to forget that the man sitting in front of me was my father.

"Calm down, boy" he took another sip "You've already had your fun with her" he smirked "Get over her and marry Sophia already. She will bring new things in your life" he winked "and in your business"

"What about me? My soul will die"

"All of us are already dead"

He placed the glass on the table.

"I came here to inform you that you are getting married to Sophia this weekend. Be ready. I will look after the arrangements"

"I am not marrying Sophia. I am finding Cynthia, and I am bringing my daughter home." I stated.

"I have already found them" he said

I froze for a second.

"Your little security team is not faster than mine"

"Where are they?" I asked, walking to him.

“They are safe for now... but I can’t say for how long."

He stood up.

"Listen to me and nothing will happen to them. Otherwise, you know, women trafficking and child accidents are quite common these days

I couldn't hold myself from grabbing his collar and slamming his back against the wall.

"No, Dad!" I walked up to him "You have blackmailed me for my entire life, not anymore."

My eyes suddenly burned. The dark truth of our so-called happy family is now becoming too much for me. This heavy weight on my chest is not letting me breathe.

"That was not blackmail. It was for your own good. Now look what it has made you"

You wanted to make me a monster like you, but I am glad my mother never let me become one.

"Believe me on this one, Lucien. Marry Sophia, have kids and you will forget about Cynthia and that little girl."

"I am not like you!"

"But you are my son and I know you better"

My jaw twitched.

"I am not marrying Sophia!" I made it clear once again.

"Fine!" He sighed "Then I don't have any other option. You know how common women trafficking and child accidents are these days"

This time I couldn't control myself. I lunged at him, grabbed his collar, and pulled him towards me.

He is exposing me to forget who he is to me.

"You will not touch even their hair. Did you get me?" I roared.

"But I can touch what's mine. Right?"

Slowly my grip loosened and a wide victorious smile made its way to his lips. Only if it was not about her, I swear I would have killed this man.

He adjusted his collar and smoothed his coat.

"Be ready. I don't want any drama in the marriage"

And just like that he left my office.

A loud roar escaped my throat as I smashed his glass against the wall.

I was losing my senses when suddenly, my phone started ringing. I pulled it out and my whole body froze.

The call was from the least expected person.
