Chapter 123 - Team Search
At the mud house...
“We need to leave now!” Jack yelled.
Jack was standing at the entrance door and didn’t bother to go inside. After Lisa made a move on him, he decided to keep his distance; he even slept outside the mud house. It only ended in a kiss. When Lisa asked him to join her inside, he declined and reminded her he was married.
The kiss shouldn’t have happened if only he saw that coming but he was taken by surprise.
It’s a new day. Lisa promised to help him find Jasmine although she was obsessed with him for turning her down. Her burning desires for him weren’t satisfied.
The creaking sound of the door relieved Jack of his concerns. He thought she would change her mind after he turned her down. Getting under Lisa’s skirt is a betrayal to Jasmine. “Good morning, Lisa,” he greeted.
He wasn’t sure if she would reply. He was still nervous.
Lisa smirked to herself. She could see the nervous look on Jack’s face. “Good morning.” With her staff raised above her head, she smites the entrance door of her mud house. Within a twinkling of an eye, a glittering blue portal appeared.
“Where does this lead?” Jack asked.
“You asked me to help find your wife, so I’m leading you to her.” Lisa puts on a soft smile. She pointed her staff to the portal and squeezed another soft word, “After you.”
“That’s not gonna happen,” Jack argued. He’s not quite sure of what’s at the other end and didn’t want to take the lead first. “You first,” he said narrowing his gaze on her.
“Suit yourself.” Lisa snickered under her breath and hopped into the portal.
This gave Jack relief. He immediately followed her cue. As soon as he walks into the portal, the glittering blue portal disappeared.
Still not sure of where the portal could lead them, he was certain of not going down easily. If anyone should go down, it should be Lisa and not him. Jack was still having a trust issue with Lisa. No one who crossed his path in the land of the dead could be trusted.
Lisa and Jack made a soft landing in front of the mansion of the serpent goddess. Jack glances around and finally narrowed his gaze on the path ahead. “This place looks familiar. I have been here before,” he mumbled.
“That’s where her wristwatch led us,” Lisa squeezed out a soft reply. After she agreed to help Jack, she demanded any item that belongs to Jasmine. Luckily enough, Jack was wearing Jasmine's wrist watch she gave to him before the night Werewolf Overlord hauled them to the land of the dead.
With the gold bracelet, Lisa was able to do a location spell throughout the night. But she couldn’t tell Jack the spell was going just fine since he chose to sleep outside of her mud house. She tried as much not to let Jack’s refusal be a hindrance to doing good.
“Why will Osai bring her here?” he muttered below his breath following Lisa’s cue as she leads the way.
He never thought Osai could bring Jasmine back to the mansion. If he was left alone, this could be the last place he will ever come to look.
On reaching the front door, a violent wind that came with a wave blasted them away knocking them off their feet.
Lisa snarled and sprang to her feet. With her staff in place, she spins it fast and hurls it into the air - -allowing her to be pulled into flight by an invisible golden wings of the staff. She flew at a terrifying speed and blasted open the front door.
“You are not welcomed in here!” Osai snarled.
Before he could get the chance to transform into his true form, Jack blasted him with a lightning blast. As Essie took her stance to cast another wind blast at them, Jack pounced at her and prone her to the ground. “It's game over for you!” he roared with his right hand starched, the demon’s blade appeared in his hand. “No second chance!”
Jack’s eyes turned black as he impaled Essie’s heart with the demon’s blade. With evil in his eyes, he pulled himself up and started glancing around for Osai.
“One more step closer and you will never see her again.” Osai sprang to his feet. He focused his gaze on Jack. Before he could finish saying “She’s mine now and you have to leave....” he caught a glimpse of Essie laying in the pool of her blood. He gnawed at his bottom lip and disappeared into thin air.
Jack was about to call him out when suddenly he appeared. This time he wasn’t alone. He appeared with Jasmine. He had her on the throat. “An eye for an eye!” Osai yelled as his eyes turned red.
“Let her go and I will spare…”
Jack’s words were pushed back to his dry throat. “You should be pleading for your life because the Imperial Prince is already on his way here. And you know what? He will drive joy killing…”
Lisa silenced Osai. With her flaming dagger, she pierced through Osai’s heart from behind. “Payback is a bitch,” she whispered to him.
Osai was one of the evil spirits she has fought while still alive. But unluckily for her, Osai sent Essie to kill her beloved husband. Setting her eyes on Osai was a wish come through.
Lisa pulled out her flaming dagger and pushed Osai away and watched him go up in flames.
Jack quickly moved to help Jasmine. Before she could slump to the floor, he caught her. “Are you alright my love?” he asked.
Her hands were still bound. All her strength was gone and she couldn’t squeeze a reply.
Jack glanced at Lisa, “A little help here, please!” He needed someone else to break Jasmine free from the chain. He could feel the power surge of the chain. Just getting close to the chain is already making him feel weak.
Lisa sniffed the air. She cast a searing gaze on Jack. “You never told me your wife was a demon.” She tilted back on her heels. “I’m not here to save demons.”
