Chapter 124 - Please
When Lisa narrowed her gaze on Jack, he knew there’d been a change of mind. “Please…help her,” he gasped.
Being around the chain is already making him weak and he’s starting to lose his breath.
Lisa isn’t showing any concern. She warned Jack of the darkness in him. With the darkness in him, he will never get to feel like a normal mortal around certain mysterious objects. What hurts the demons will hurt him too. “I’m sorry, I can’t,” Lisa whispered into the air as she turned to leave.
She was obsessed with demons and the young man she just met was married to a demon. The very beings for her demise. Good thing she had avenged the death of her husband killed by Essie under Osai’s command. Her coming to the mansion wasn’t a total disappointment after all.
Before Lisa could get to the door, Jack started shambling toward her. “Please…”
“I don’t save demons.” Lisa swirled.
Jack gently held Lisa’s arm from behind. “For my sake, help her.”
“She’s a demon!”
“There are things you don’t know about the demon world now. It’s been a long time since you left the living world. The demon world is split and she belongs to the good demons.”
“No demon is good.”
“You claim you have been helping humans, freeing her from that chain is freeing me…” Jack paused and swallowed a lump in his throat. He lifted his head and continued. “She’s my wife. If she’s bad as you claim, will I still be alive?”
After much persuasion from Jack, Lisa gave in. She conjured a white glowing orb and releases it toward Jasmine. As soon as the white glowing orb touched the chain, the chain was sucked into the orb.
“It’s done,” Lisa said. She snapped her fingers. The white glowing orb disappeared.
“Thanks,” Jack expressed appreciation as he quickly moved to help Jasmine up. “Are you alright my love?” he asked once more with a concerned look on his face.
Without saying a word, Jasmine threw her arms around Jack’s neck. She didn’t want to let go. She thought she would never see him again but she thought wrong.
Finally, she opened her mouth to speak. “I missed you,” she whispered.
“I miss you…”
Lisa clears her throat interrupting their little moments. She draws closer to them with her gaze steadily fixed on Jasmine. “I have not seen a demon married to a mortal.”
“This is not the time,” Jack cut in knowing the question was for Jasmine. “We need her to rest first before…”
“I’m still not comfortable around her.”
“I understand how you feel towards me but whatever my kind did to you, should be on me…” Jasmine moved toward Lisa. “I’m grateful you saved me.”
“I didn’t do it for you...” Lisa sighed softly. “I did it for him.”
“I’m still grateful,” Jasmine whispered as she expresses gratitude.
Jack smirked to himself. “Alright guys, we should get going,” he said.
He was desperate to get to know who the Imperial Prince was but this wasn’t the right time. If Osai said the Imperial Prince was on his way, they should be gone before he got to the mansion. He was concerned about Jasmine and didn’t want to see her get into a fight yet. She needed some time to fully recover.
Lisa cast her staff to the front door as a glittering blue portal appeared. This time, she didn’t ask Jack to take the lead. Instead, she walked in first. She wasn’t much concerned about whether they will follow her cue or not. That’s up to them to decide.
“Let’s go,” Jack said. He held Jasmine’s hand as they both made their way into the portal.
As soon as Jack and Jasmine walked into the portal, the portal disappeared.
They all made a smooth landing in Lisa’s mud house. Jasmine was so curious about where they are. It’s been a long she set her eyes on a mud house.
“What’s this place?” she asked with curiosity. She’s not sure if they were at the right place or not.
Lisa didn’t let Jack answer. She spoke up before Jack could open his mouth to speak. “This is the only place I have ever felt safe in the land of the dead,” she said glancing at Jasmine.
“This is your place?” Jasmine stared with a concerned look. Maybe she was expecting something different other than a mud house of 24-by-38-foot with a mud terrace as the roof.
“Were you expecting a mansion or a castle?” Lisa asked Jasmine. The way she saw Jasmine look around seemed to her that she didn’t like her place. Perhaps Jasmine had a high taste when it came to things like this.
However, that was a different thing for Jasmine. She was just surprised to see a mud house. It’d been centuries since she saw one. “No, that’s not what I meant,” Jasmine spoke up in her defense. She must have been misinterpreted.
“Then what the hell did you…”
“Whoa! Whoa! Whoa!” Jack cut in sharply. Lisa was still obsessed with Jasmine and demons in general. She didn’t intend to free her from the chains if not for Jack’s plea. “Please… we are not here to fight you, Lisa. We still need your help to find our way back to the human world.”
Lisa giggled. She hissed loudly with her gaze on Jack, “And you think I will send you back to the human world with a demon? That’s not gonna happen!”
Lisa had proven to Jack that she could be of help to get him out of the land of the dead with his wife. However, things had changed since she got to know that Jack was married to a demon. Even in the land of the dead Lisa still wanted to keep humans safe and she was not willing to risk that by sending Jasmine back with Jack. She saw Jasmine as a threat to the human world—a time bomb waiting to explode.
