Chapter 226: Your Sister Is Vengeful

Logan

“Am I supposed to trust your word?” Raphael asked and Callan grinned.

“Trust my anger, Romano.”

Raphael’s jaw clenched, it was personal and I realized it. Their grudge against Thorne, it was personal, too personal. And not to Raphael, but to his sister. Nneka always stood unafraid but I could see the glimmer of fear in her eyes, I  could see her clenched hands which seemed to shake. Interesting. Others seemed to have noticed it too.

“He is yours,” I said to her.

“After I get back my sister.” She paused and then nodded her head.

“Okay,” she stuffed her hands in the pocket of her leather jacket, a familiar leather jacket.

“Okay,” she repeated but this time, it was as if she was saying it to herself. Raphael glanced at his sister and then looked at us.

“Jorge will be there for the exchange.”

A compromise? I nodded my head.

“Very well, are we done here?” I asked, he nodded displeased but nodded his head anyways.

“Yes,” he replied.

Lucas’s phone buzzed, he looked down at it and his face went white.

__________
Jessica POV

As soon as I was released, I knew something was wrong. I tried calling but they didn't pick up the phone. The need for pleasure slowly melted away till there was only uneasiness. I wrapped a robe around myself and walked out of the room with shaky legs. The penthouse was deathly silently, in a way which made me think there was someone hiding in the shadows. I turned every light on, lighting the penthouse up and sat in the living room alone in luxury. Everything was dark, every painting on the walls and very furniture.

I fiddled with my fingers, looking down at my phone, checking for the nth time if I had accidentally put it on silent or missed a call or a text but I hadn't. Where were they? The elevator door opened revealing the last person I had expected to see. Sophie’s personal assistant, she smiled at me and she was covered from head to toe in a trench coat.

“Hey, Jessica. Mrs. Rizzo sent me.” She said and I frowned.

“Why?”

“She said that your boyfriends were a bit busy,” she looked around, wrapping her hands around herself.

“This is overwhelming.”

“I know,” I said.

“What are Callan and Logan busy with?” I asked and she shrugged.

“Some meeting, I suppose.” She walked closer, steps unsure as her heels clicked.

“Are you alright? You look a little shaken.” She noticed.

“I am okay,” I smiled.

“Sit down please.”

She smiled in response, sitting down with grace I could not imagine ever having and she crossed her legs.

“I am going to put on some real clothes, make yourself comfortable.” I said, standing up and grabbing my phone. I guess, I wasn't entirely comfortable here either. She smiled and nodded her head.

I walked back to the room, entering the closet which did not really have any of my clothes. I wore a button down shirt which came down to almost my knees and then grabbed a jacket which just looked pretty over it. I put on the heel I had been wearing with my dress which was a mess on the floor somewhere. I ran my fingers through my hair and looked at myself in the mirror. I hated not looking appropriate in front of people, Monica and my father's needs to look presentable all the time had sunk into claws inside of me. My phone buzzed, I picked it up and it was a text from Sophie.

‘Adriano is acting shady, do you know where Angelo, Luciano and your boyfriends are?’ I frowned before replying to her.

‘You don't know?’

‘No, Adriano just told me there is an emergency meeting.’ she replied and I heard a creak.

‘Then why did you send your assistance here?’

‘I didn't send anyone, Jessica.’

A sharp pain emitted from the side of my head.

“Stupid whore.” she muttered and I fell.

“Yes, I got her.” She leaned down, her eyes for the first time looked familiar and she smiled.

“Let's see what my brothers pay for you, Romero.”

_________
Callan POV

“Jessica,” I called as I ran inside the penthouse.

Others followed me, I ran upstairs, fear almost overwhelming me as I ran into the bathroom. The bathroom door was ajar. There was no one inside, only a phone that further confirmed that Jane had taken her. I had seen the footage while Logan drove the car and I had heard the words loud and clear. Brothers. Someone had taken Evelyn from the mansion, so I walked out of the room.

“Check every camera.” I muttered to Troye.

“See what car she was put in.” He bowed his head.

“I…there is no footage, Callan. It has been erased.”

I eliminate the fury which rose. I will find her and burn the world later. Tears burnt but I kept them in. Logan looked at me, Lucas was fúck knew where. Angelo and Luciano were downstairs.

“Call Kane.” He said and I did.

“Callan, I sent your sister to you. It is a pity you didn't realize it.” he said as he picked up the call.

“Where are Jessica and Evelyn, Kane?”

A pause, filled with mockery.

“Your sister is vengeful, she was going to kill all the Santoros, you know? You reduced her work, only you three are left.”

My sister? I took a deep breath.

“She can have us, let the women go.” I said. There was a pause again and then a soft voice spoke, rolling with an accent.

“Brothers,” she said and I froze.

“There will be no fun in revenge if I just exchange, huh?” She chuckled. All I heard was my mother. My sadistic, terrible and terrifying mother.

“Meet me tomorrow.”

“Where?” I asked.

“I will tell you, it is a place in the city. Stay around, brother.” She said and hung up.

The Rizzo mansion was quiet, it was never quiet. Nova refused to speak, to utter a single word. My brothers and I ripped the city apart the whole night and day, trying to find signs of them but coming up with nothing. I didn't let fear take root even though my mind threatened to break. This could not be how I lose her. She had been through things I wouldn't wish upon anyone, she didn't deserve this. I didn't let myself dwell on the fact that it was my sister who had done it, I could almost hear my grandmother’s voice in my head.

‘Your mother brought a curse into this family, Callan.’

That woman has been years old with shaking hands and bowed back. I had not believed her till our mother started hurting me. The pain was an enemy and then eventually it became a friend, the only thing which kept my mind quiet till Jessica came into our lives. I looked down at my phone, resisting the urge to throw it against a wall and potentially ruin one of the million paintings on the walls. Jane has not called.

I couldn't call her Emma, no. Emma had been my sister, Jane was something else. She was my mother's return, here to finally complete what the woman had started but she would kill Lucas too and every Santoro. I would lay my life for Jessica, there was no question in that. The Rizzos would protect her for the rest of her life, she would be happy and she would be safe. She would be free for me. She would be free of all her monsters.
