Chapter 227: You Will Be Dead
Jessica
The darkness of wherever I was didn't let one thing show, my hands were tied with rough roped as were my ankles. After feeling the room just a little, I could tell it was tiny with a wood door and no window. I took a deep breath, something I used to do before my father sent someone into my room, keeping myself from panicking.
The words clicked, their sister, no. I took in a deep breath again, trying to hold it and just then a hand grabbed my knee. I screamed, louder than I ever had and then a voice chuckled. Chase’s voice. No Kane Thorne.
“You have always been so jumpy.”
My throat closed up and panic finally seeped into me, my hands trembled. I was suddenly hyper-aware that I was just in a shirt and my underwear. He shifted closer, I tried to breathe, his familiar scent washed over me bringing me memories that had never been true. Not for him.
“I loved you.” He said.
“And you were so quick to open your legs for them.”
“Let me go!” My voice trembled.
“Let me go!” Now, my voice hardened and he chuckled again.
“Such demands, little Jessica. I have just got you, why would I let you go?”
“Jane…Emma…”
“She will kill you.” He said easily.
“And she will kill your men, their brother and Evelyn.” He cupped my face and I flinched away but he gripped it.
“I will have my fun with you.” He said and fear gripped me so tightly that it choked me.
“And then she can play.”
“What is she to you?” I asked.
“She is my capo.” He replied.
“She will rule the Santoro mafia and I will be her enforcer.”
He sounded delightful, he let go of me and stood, opening the door with a key. Light flooded inside, blinding me but it was gone before I could even look. I heard a key turn, a lock set into place. Only when his footsteps faded didn't I let tears roll out of my eyes. The ropes were too tight, I couldn't get out even if I did, I wouldn't be able to open the door. And even if I did, Kane was out there. I was here, waiting for someone to rescue me. For them to rescue me as they once had from my father. There were too many monsters in the world but they were mine. I sobbed, they are my monsters.

Logan POV
Lucas paced in the room, Sophie stood in a corner, solemn and Callan sat beside me, his knuckles white around his knife. The Rizzos sat across from us.
“All we can do is wait for the call.” Luciano said.
“I know,” Callan bit out, not bothering to restrain his fury anymore. Luciano didn't give him a reaction. I looked down at my hands.
“You can't think of any other place they would take her?” I asked.
“No,” Angelo said.
“We turned the city upside down, Logan. I don't think they are in the city.”
Lucas was pure violence as he paused, looking at me and then at the Rizzos.
“What about the state?”
“Our people are coming through it.” Adriano replied.
“We will find them.”
“I am not sitting on my ass.” I said and walked out of the room.
We had been looking day and night, one whole day had passed but there was no sign of her, of them. My fists clenched. Emma, it had her the whole time, hiding her time till she could take her revenge.
Revenge for all that had happened to her, did she know we had tried to find her? That we had ripped the world apart for her, chasing every tiny evidence till it was nothing?
_______
Jessica POV
The darkness of the cell seemed to seep into me as I sat there for hours. I didn't have the courage to even scream, the fear that Kane could come back kept my mouth sealed. When the door opened, the light burnt my eyes. It was a woman standing at the door, a familiar woman. She flicked some switch on from the outside which flooded the yellow light in the small room. Her bright eyes looked at me, all over and her face held nothing.
“Bring her.”
A fragile body was thrown into the cell by Kane. It didn't take me a single moment to realize who it was. Evelyn. She instantly pressed herself in a corner, face stained with tears. She looked at me, her panic increasing.
“Jessica…”
“You can have your reunion later.” Emma said, her voice smooth and words stretched out. She crouched down to my level, looking me in the eyes. How had I not recognized her? I could still hear that awful man’s voice in my head, little birdie. It was obvious she had gotten some work done on her face but those eyes had not changed a bit, they screamed Santoro. She seemed to have madness which exceeded Callan’s.
“I hold nothing against the both of you.” She said.
“Just…” she sighed.
“The wrong men fell in love with you, okay?” She gave me a smile filled with so much pity it made my blood boil.
“They will be here soon.” She stood up.
“They tried to find you.” I told her.
“That was why they took me, all they wanted to do was find you ever since Patrick let them go.” I added and she looked at me.
“Do you know who gave me away to that trafficker, Jessica?” She asked, I shook my head and looked at Evelyn.
“It was Lucas, he thought he was doing it to keep me safe from our mother.” She let out a laugh, putting a hand in her trench coat, heartbreakingly beautiful face covered with a cruel smile.
“He realized that later.” Evelyn whispered.
“Your mother tricked him, he tried to get you and his brothers tried to get you as well but your mother didn't let them.” Evelyn’s beautiful eyes were filled with pain.
“He hated himself for it, Emma.” Evelyn added. She maintained that twisted smile on her face.
“Does it change a thing, Evelyn?” She asked quietly.
“Does it change one single thing about anything that happened?” She sighed, running one hand through her hair before tilting it.
“I will clean the Santoro's name, there will be one capo again as it always should have been.” She stepped out of the room.
“I wish you both could have seen the glory I will bring to my mafia but sadly…” her smile fell.
“You will be dead.” She muttered, looking at Kane.
“You can take Jessica, Kane. There is not much time left.”
Kane smirked, and my heart fell, I forced myself to breathe. I have been through it a million times, it is nothing. It won't hurt anymore, it won't hurt. I tried telling myself but then he picked me up, I closed my eyes, tears spilling out. I didn't struggle, they hurt more if I struggle, it won't hurt.
He walked somewhere, the wind hit me and I kept my eyes closed. I didn't want to see his face but I needed to know where I was. I forced my eyes open, tears through the panic.
