Chapter 18 A CALL TO DUTY AIN'T TO BE RESISTED; NOT WHEN IT INVOLVES REVENGE
As Mykel and Kitara approached the archery range, Mykel was eager to get started. "Shall we get this party started?" he asked Kitara with a grin on his face.
Kitara smiled back and responded, "Yeah, we should probably do that if you're up for it." She then walked over to the other archery stand, which was located some distance away from Mykel's stand.
Once they were both in position, Mykel began to explain the rules of their competition. "So, this is how we'll decide who is the best archer," he said confidently. "You see that red spot on the plank over there?" The faint white spot on it is our target. We made the target faint so as to test the eye-sighting ability of our archers. "If any archer can make this shot, they can make almost any shot in the world."
.
Kitara raised her bow and inserted an arrow into it. She took a deep breath and focused her gaze on the target. The wind was calm and the sun was shining, providing the perfect conditions for their competition. Alpha Mykel found himself secretly wishing that she would fail. It was a strange feeling for him, as he was supposed to want all members of his pack to be successful, especially as their leader. But there was something about Kitara's confident attitude that made him want to see her stumble.
"Enough talking; this should be easy," Kitara said with a smirk as she took aim at the target. Mykel watched as she released the arrow, and it hit the target with a satisfying thud. He couldn't help but feel a twinge of disappointment.
As Kitara prepared for her shot, Mykel couldn't help but think back to their earlier conversation. The thought of her stealing from him made him smile. "She sure mustn't dare to," he thought to himself. And even yet, she is here, seemingly brimming with confidence and self-assurance. Mykel couldn't help but wonder if she was becoming too full of herself and if her success was starting to go to her head.
Mykel watched intently as Kitara released her arrow, which soared through the air and hit the target with a resounding thud. "Nice shot!" he exclaimed, impressed by her accuracy.
But as Kitara continued to shoot, Mykel couldn't deny that she was skilled. Her shots were accurate and precise, hitting the target with ease. Despite his initial reservations, he had to admit that she was a talented archer.
As the competition wore on, Mykel found himself starting to enjoy it. He and Kitara were evenly matched, and the competition was intense. They traded shots back and forth, each trying to outdo the other.
At one point, Kitara hit the bullseye, and Mykel couldn't help but feel a pang of jealousy. He wanted to be the best, to prove his worth as Alpha. But as the competition continued, he realized that it wasn't about being the best. It was about pushing himself and his pack to be better.
Finally, after what felt like hours, the competition came to an end. Mykel and Kitara had both hit their targets with impressive accuracy, and there was no clear winner. As they packed up their gear and prepared to head back to the pack, Mykel felt a sense of pride.
Despite his initial reservations about Kitara's attitude, he had to admit that she was a valuable member of the pack and would surely add value to his guard. She pushed him and will probably do so with the others to be better, and she was surely a skilled archer who could hold her own in competition.
"Thanks for keeping me company today," Alpha Mykel said with a smile.
"You're welcome, your highness," Kitara replied.
"My highness?" Mykel raised an eyebrow. "That's the first time you've called me that in hours."
Kitara shrugged. "Do you want me to call you that all the time?"
Mykel chuckled. "No, of course not." I appreciate the fact that you treat me like a normal person. "No one ever does that."
"Good," Kitara said with a small smile.
Mykel couldn't help but feel grateful for Kitara's company. She was one of the few members of his pack who didn't seem intimidated by his position as Alpha. She treated him like any other member of the pack, and he appreciated that.
"So, when will you be available for something like this again?" Mykel asked, hoping to spend more time with Kitara.
Kitara shrugged. "That's up for you to decide." I'm always up for spending time with my Alpha."
Mykel smiled. "Well then, I'll have to make sure we do this again soon."
As they parted ways, Mykel couldn't help but feel grateful for Kitara's friendship. She was a valuable member of his pack, and he knew that he could always count on her.
Kitara hurried back to her quarters to prepare for the upcoming night event. As she made her way through the bustling halls, she couldn't help but think about Amaya. She had been hoping to run into her again, as they had much to discuss.
Once she arrived in her room, Kitara wasted no time in picking out her favorite attire for the night. She had been waiting for this occasion for weeks and wanted to make sure she looked her best.
As she finished getting ready, Kitara couldn't shake the feeling that something important was about to happen. She had a sense that tonight would be a turning point, and she needed to be ready for whatever was coming her way.
After what felt like hours of waiting, Kitara heard a knock at her door. She quickly made her way over and opened it up to find Amaya standing on the other side.
"It's time for action, Kitara," Amaya said, her eyes filled with a sense of urgency. Kitara took a deep breath and nodded. She knew that whatever was happening tonight, she was ready for it. With Amaya by her side, she felt invincible.
