Chapter 119 Go Home
Henry stood up, his gaze fixed on her. Maria bit her lip, suppressing her shyness, and walked over to Henry, tiptoeing to kiss him. Henry was momentarily stunned, but the next moment, his kiss landed heavily.
At this moment, all of Henry's worries and tension melted into the kiss. Rarely Maria cooperated with him, and their breathing grew heavier. Henry picked up Maria and placed her on the bed, reaching to untie her robe. Maria did not refuse. On the snow-white bed, Maria's body was flawless, and Henry's breathing grew heavier as he leaned down to kiss her. Maria bit her lip to stifle the moan that was about to escape. Their bodies intertwined on the bed, and when Maria felt Henry's penis pressing against her pussy, her breath hitched, and her rationality returned. She looked at Henry, her voice slightly hoarse but calm, "Didn't you want to know what I saw that night? This is what I saw."
Maria knew Henry wouldn't believe her, and as expected, he didn't. Henry frowned, the desire in his eyes dissipating because of Maria's words, "Maria, do you think I would believe that?"
Maria wasn't surprised by Henry's words; she knew he wouldn't believe her. Henry's face showed helplessness because of her words, "Maria, I told you that Diana and I are just friends. You don't need to be so biased against her. Also, as a woman, you should know how disgusting it is to slander another woman like this."
"Henry, you asked me, and I told you. Now you think I'm lying. If that's the case, why don't you investigate it yourself?" Maria was also angry, her breath sounded ragged and her gaze cold.
Henry only felt she was being evasive. He looked at Maria with disappointment, dressed silently, and left.
After waking up, Maria went to the hospital. She didn't contact Henry and went straight to the ward. Ethan and Kenna were eating. When they saw her, they were first stunned, then overjoyed. Tears welled up in Kenna's eyes.
"Maria, Maria."
Due to her limited mobility, Kenna could only maneuver her wheelchair toward Maria. Maria also went to hug her. Kenna cried hard in her arms, calling out Maria's name repeatedly. Maria felt both sour and touched. After comforting Kenna, Maria said to Ethan, "Grandpa, I'm back."
"Good, good, good." Ethan said 'good' three times in a row, his voice choked with emotion. He genuinely liked Maria and sincerely believed she could be a good daughter-in-law for the Smith family. Maria was also very filial to him. So, after Maria was kidnapped, Ethan was extremely worried. Now seeing Maria return, Ethan thought Henry had rescued her. He said kindly, "Why are you alone? Didn't Henry come with you?"
Frowning, he continued, "What's that boy busy with again? You just went through such an ordeal, how could he let you come alone?"
Maria understood Ethan's concern. He was afraid she would have psychological trauma from the kidnapping. But how could she tell Ethan that Henry didn't choose to save her and that she escaped on her own? Maria bit her lip, suppressing the urge to tell the truth. She couldn't let Ethan get agitated because of her anger. She made up an excuse for Henry to brush off the matter.
In the evening, when Henry came to the hospital and saw Maria, his face looked unpleasant, as if he was thinking about something. Ethan keenly sensed the tension between them and frowned at Henry, "Why didn't you call me when Maria came back?"
Henry was taken aback. Because of Maria's accusation against Diana, they had parted on bad terms, and he had forgotten to call Ethan.
"Grandpa, I'm sorry, I forgot." Henry apologized without making excuses. Ethan's eyes darkened, but he said nothing, "Since Maria is back, go handle the discharge procedures."
Maria was shocked and instinctively looked at Ethan, "Grandpa, why are you being discharged? You haven't recovered yet."
Ethan interrupted her with a smile, his tone gentle, "I'm fine now. Alan also said I could be discharged. I just need to recuperate at home."
Maria finally breathed a sigh of relief. She trusted Alan's judgment. Henry pursed his lips and said nothing. Hearing this, he turned and left the ward. After he left, Ethan looked at Maria and asked, "Can you tell me what happened?"
Maria's heart trembled. Ethan had noticed. She instinctively avoided his gaze and pretended to be casual, "We just had some disagreements. Grandpa, you know how we are. Don't worry, we'll make up."
Her last words were spoken very quietly and softly. She didn't know if they would make up. Diana's involvement made Maria realize that Henry might not have feelings for her as she had thought.
There were still two months left in their agreement. Maybe in two months, they would become strangers.
Ethan sighed lightly but said nothing. The next morning, Ethan left the hospital. Considering Ethan's health, they didn't stay there and directly took a plane home.
At home, Dora, who had received the news in advance, was cooking in the kitchen. Seeing Ethan, she was also very happy. After all, her existence was for Ethan. To Maria's surprise, Julie was also there, but she looked unwell, much thinner and more haggard than before. Maria also noticed something off in her eyes.
Before she could delve into it, Julie went into the kitchen. She didn't greet Henry, as if avoiding something. Dora seemed to notice Maria's gaze and blocked Julie's figure. Maria lowered her eyes, suppressing her doubts. Ethan was already very tired from the journey and fell asleep as soon as he returned to his room. Back here again, Maria suddenly felt at ease, as if the kidnapping was just a dream.
"Kenna, you must be tired. I'll take you to your room to rest." Dora's voice interrupted Maria's thoughts. She looked at Kenna, who was rubbing her eyes, clearly sleepy. Maria's heart softened, and she stopped Dora, deciding to take Kenna to her room herself. She didn't notice Henry's gaze following her.
After putting Kenna to sleep, Maria returned to her room, feeling a bit tired. She took her pajamas and went into the bathroom. Just as she soaked her body in the bathtub, the bathroom door handle suddenly turned. Maria's heart skipped a beat, and she looked up, "Who is it?"
"Maria, it's me." Henry's voice came. Maria sighed in relief and bit her lip, "What's the matter? I'm taking a bath. If you have something to say, wait until I come out."
"Open the door." Henry's tone was firm. Maria got angry and decided to ignore him. She underestimated Henry. After a moment of silence outside the bathroom, she thought Henry had given up. But then she heard the sound of a key turning in the lock.
The bathroom door opened, and Henry walked in. Maria instinctively tried to cover her body, but his slightly mocking voice rang in her ears, "I've seen it all. What's there to cover?"
Maria felt a mix of shame and anger. She glared at Henry and asked through gritted teeth, "Don't you know what manners are? What are you doing here?"
