Chapter 5 - The One-Night Stand Will Happen
Vernon looked at Serena and started to pick up the call. "Hey, dude, if you've chosen a woman other than your ex-girlfriend, you shouldn't bother her anymore, do you understand?!"
Serena was surprised to hear Vernon's words as he did not follow what she suggested to answer the caller.
Henry, who was the caller, was surprised to hear the voice of the man he didn't expect to pick up his call when he tried to call Serena with another number. Jealousy began to overcome him, even though he intended to apologize to Serena.
"Who the hell are you? Where are you?! Did you two spend the whole night together and have sex?" asked Henry, who hounded him with completely unnatural questions.
Before Vernon could answer, Serena took over her cell phone and was now the one talking to Henry, her ex-fiancé. "Screw you! And yes, we had a passionate night together, Henry. Just like you did with that woman, so I think it's only fair that I spend the night with my new man."
"Damn it, Serena! Give me your current address and we can talk about it. Please!"
"No, thanks! I don't want to see you again, you jerk!"
Serena hung up the call just like that after she had spoken with her emotions quite fully drained. She sighed, her breath caught in her throat and again she remembered what she heard when Henry and Lily were in the same room. Serena then tried to regulate her breathing normally and thought positive things until she finally felt calm enough.
After such a tense atmosphere, there was silence. Vernon deliberately did not open his voice because he wanted to let Serena calm down first before the things he wanted to discuss and straighten out.
"Why did you lie to him, Serena?" asked Vernon. "I think you should have a nice, calm talk with him and see if you two can reconcile."
"I will never forgive those two! They've betrayed me and that's the decision I've made! Besides, no amount of peace will make me go back to him!" explained Serena who still sounded so sensitive. "And just think if you were in my shoes, would you want to reconcile with your ex-girlfriend? You don’t want to, right?" Serena asked back.
Vernon sighed and remained calm in the face of Serena who was still getting carried away because of the new call. "Okay, I understand. But I also want to make it clear that we didn't spend the night together last night. And that's not going to happen."
Hearing Vernon say that, Serena suddenly smiled meaningfully at him. "It will happen tonight, Vernon."
Vernon swallowed, his body stiffening suddenly as if what he had just heard from Serena's lips was so bewitching that his entire body was transfixed behind the wheel he was driving.
As they entered the western region and it was just the two of them in the car, the atmosphere was tense for Vernon. "Look, we're not going to do anything you say, Serena. We're not going to do whatever your ex-fiancé assumed," Vernon explained, telling her and reiterating it.
"Well, if not tonight, maybe next time or in the future we will, Vernon. After all, we both know we're single now, which means there are always plenty of opportunities to do so," Serena replied with a graceful and seductive smile. "I think I want to do something with you, maybe as a form of revenge for Henry."
"Revenge won't solve the problem unless you let things go when you've decided to, Serena," Vernon replied. He was still trying to get Serena not to do anything out of the ordinary because he still saw Serena's desire for revenge for her ex-fiancé.
Thinking about what had happened to her, where her ex-fiancée betrayed her made her try to compare herself to Lily. She did not feel that her charm was inferior to Lily's. But she felt very disgusted with her because she had stolen Henry from her in such a low and classless way.
Serena needed a man who was much better than Henry to prove that her charm was still there for that man. She also needed a man who didn't have a penchant for cheating on his women. But Serena knew that finding something like a diamond was a difficulty she had to face now. But as Serena contemplated what she was thinking, she saw Vernon, who she felt that Vernon looked much better than Henry, although she just saw Vernon through his clothes.
As the car headed to the west, they no longer talked much. It was already dark and the car stopped, so Serena turned to Vernon and looked at him with a different look.
"Vernon, you know ... we could have spent tonight having a one-night stand, or at least doing it during this journey," Serena said in a voice that sounded so sexy.
The breath Vernon breathed from her lips as she spoke made him feel bewitched and immobilized once again.
Serena's hand even began to touch his chest, allowing Serena to feel Vernon's heart beating the same way she was feeling. "Only you and I know. We can take our frustrations with our ex-lovers out on each other with sex," Serena said again.
"Serena ... we..."
Suddenly her forefinger stopped Vernon from speaking. "Don't talk, just listen to me, Vernon."
Serena was so sure that the charm she was using to lure Vernon would work on the night they stopped in the dark. She just couldn't help herself that the sight of Vernon turned her on as if she wanted to have him that night. She just needed to play a few tricks that were so classy without coming across as disgusting.
They were so close, so close that Serena could have brushed her lips across Vernon's in a second, but she didn't. She wanted to make Vernon interested in her, turned on because of her where the atmosphere around them was already starting to feel very ambitious.
"If we do that, maybe something will happen to us in the future, Vernon. You and I will no longer be alone, but please, let tonight prove everything to us."
