ALASKA'S POV
I had been riding for three hours. I could not see dad's old Harley anywhere. I stopped at a diner to grab a bite to eat and call Orson and Jennifer.
I ordered a steak rare with sides and a beer.
Then, I pulled out my phone to call Orson. I waited until the waitress brought my beer before I called. I saw he had called and texted me almost fifty times. I called his number and waited for him to answer.
"Well, it is about time. Did you find her?"
"Not yet. I'm going to start checking the hotels. There was no sign of dad's Harley at any motels." I said, then took a drink of my beer it was drinkable, but not like our beer. This would never get me drunk, not that. That was my goal yet.
"Dad has had the gang up and down the highways. They are thinking of going back out."
"Mom is not stupid she drove until she could and got a room somewhere. Don't understand his logic she is pregnant she can only ride for so long."
"You want one of us to come join you?"
"No point. If it is just one of us, she will be more open to talking than having two or more."
"You need to watch your back out there on your own. That guy Thorn is still after Dad with your hair. you're a dead giveaway to who you are."
"I got my bandana over it and have it tucked into my collar of my jacket."
"I could be gone a few days. If I find her, it will take a lot to get her to come home. Don't tell dad shit."
"It was not dad it was Nana and aunt Dammi she overheard part of their conversation. Dad already blasted Nana. Thought him and Papa were going to go to blows, but Uncle Drake got in between them."
"Orson, the only way she is going to come home is if I can convince her to, she will not listen to them. If she gets wind they are close, she will book it again. Let me do this alone. If I need you guys, I will call. Can I talk to Jennifer, please?"
Yeah, hang on, she is right here." Orson said.
"Alaska, are you ok?" Jennifer asked.
"Yes, my love, I may be gone for a few days. I have to find my mom."
"I understand. Please let me know if you find her."
"I will love. Just stay inside and hang out with my sisters. Don't go anywhere alone."
"I will stay with them, I promise. I love you."
"I love you to Jennifer. Can you put Ember on the phone, please?"
"Ember, he wants to talk to you," I heard her say.
"Alaska, you should not have gone alone it is dangerous for you." Ember said.
"I have it covered Ember, listen, can you please watch over Jennifer for me she is still fragile from everything she went through."
"Don't worry, I will take care of her. Just find mom and bring her home. And be careful. You have a target on you back with your hair."
"I will be, and for the Goddess’s sake, no one tell dad I called."
"No, sorry, we don't need your service." She said and hung up. I had to laugh. Dad must have walked into the room.
I ate my steak. I did not realize how hungry I was. Then, I asked the waitress where the good hotels were in the city. She gave me a brochure that listed the good hotels around the city. I paid my bill and tipped her good. Then, she passed her another fifty. I was never here, got it. She nodded. I went out to my Harley to calculate what hotel mom would stop at after two to three hours of riding. I got it down to three. I rode off to the first one, hoping I would get lucky.
EMMA'S POV
I heard someone knocking on the door. I pulled the pillow over my head it was probably the maid service. Then I heard Alaska begging me to open the door. I got up and put on the hotel house coat and looked out the peek hole it was only Alaska, and he had flowers. How did he find me. I opened the door and grabbed him by the arm, and pulled him in, locking the door.
"How did you find me?" I asked.
"It was not easy, that is for sure. Are you ok, mom?" He asked.
"No, Alaska, I'm not. You did not tell anyone I'm here, did you?" I asked, frightened.
"No, mom. And I'm not going to. I have to let the rest of your children know that I found you, but they will not tell anyone, including Dad." He passed me the flowers, and I gave him a little smile.
"Alaska, go home to Jennifer." I said.
"She understands mom, I'm not going home until you're ready to come home."
"It is not my home, anymore Alaska, maybe it never was." I told him.
"Mom, it has always been your home you belong with dad. I'm mad at how everyone defines you by Dawn. But your children don't your mom. Dawn or no Dawn. You raised us and looked after us when we were sick. You taught us right from wrong. You Emma, my mom, did that."
If you need a week a month, we will do it together. I'm not leaving. You are letting you leave us your children." Mom started to cry. I went and put my arm around her.
"We should order up some food and see what is on the television. I will sleep on the couch here. But let's do one thing: first, we need to call the others, so they know im with you and you are safe. Ok?" I nodded my head.
ALASKA'S POV
I called Orson's phone, and it picked up right away. Sorry, you have the wrong number. And hung up. Damit. I waited. He would call me back as soon as he could. It was almost an hour before he called.
"He almost saw it was you. He just went to talk to Papa. Did you find mom?"
I put it on speaker so she could hear.
"Yes, I'm with her. I'm staying with her until she is ready to come home."
"Mom? “Orson said. Mom waved her hand.
"Orson, she does not want to talk right now. Hang on, she is passing me a paper." I took the paper from mom and read it. She wants me to tell you all she loves you. She will see you all soon she just needs some time. Don't tell anyone that I found her." Ok, mom, they all said.
"Jennifer, I love you. I will see you when mom is ready."
"Love you too." she said back.
There was a knock at the door. Food is here. Talk to you tomorrow. I told them and hung up. I checked. It was just room service. I tipped the guy and brought in the cart.
