Chapter 87- Left Out!
She rolled her eyes on Dan and tightened her hands into fists on her thighs. “What is going on here?”
Both men and women stepped out from the black limousines. They all gathered around the fountain and stood there as if they were waiting for orders from Dan.
“You have nothing to worry about, love,” he smiled mischievously and with total fake ness in his eyes.
“That does not answer my question,” she lashed out. Seeing the werewolves gather could only mean one thing. “If you don’t tell me the truth, I will get it out myself!” Her eyes hardened with rage.
“Fine,” he muttered. He gestured for Samuel to leave. He breathed a sigh of relief before opening his mouth to speak. “They are not gathering because they are happy I am back. I made them a promise 20 years ago and they are here to…”
“To break the curse of the moon,” she answered for him. She shook her head in disbelief and drew back on her heels. “I can’t believe you are still deliberately doing this.”
“Come on, love,” he drew closer, wanting to hold her but she drew back again. “I have a legacy to uphold.”
“And I have my father to protect,” she lashed out. Her brows furrowed as she continued in a harsh voice. “Since you have chosen the werewolves over the vampires, rejecting the very first thing you were made to be, I have no choice but to pick sides with the vampires.”
She turned to leave, but Dan wouldn’t let her. He gripped her, gently, to stop her from leaving. “Please, don’t hate me,” he said. “You got it all wrong.”
“Really?” She scowled at him. “What is it that I got wrong, huh?”
He slowly unhands her as he opens his mouth to speak. “Dean, my elder brother, and Jasmine, my younger sister; we only shared the same father, not the same mother. I am their half-brother. Perhaps that’s why they did what they did to me but staking me with a daemon dagger.”
He paused and peered at something. He turned back his face on Mary and continued in a refined voice. “My father had an affair with an Egyptian priestess’ daughter. Out of rage, the priestess cursed the offspring of her daughter to be a werewolf—a curse that has to do with bone snapping and agony. That offspring happened to be me. My father didn’t know this before letting his sorceress turn us into vampires that lurk in the dark for victims.”
He paced around Mary with both hands behind his back as he continued. “Now you have known another reason the Egyptian king seeks to overthrow my father and take Rome. Because of the secret affair my father had with the priestess’ daughter. When I ventured into war against the army of this Egyptian king and made my first kill—I triggered the werewolf curse in me. On every full moon, my bones snap and reposition, leaving me in agony, until I learn to control my form as a hybrid. Breaking the curse of the moon will help my first bloodline control their form. Now you know I was a werewolf, not knowing, before becoming a vampire.”
For years, Dan has been seeking true love even from his siblings. All they do is turn against him when he errs. He needed a family that would stand by him whether when he was right or wrong. Since he couldn’t get it from his blood, he had resulted in seeking it elsewhere. He’s ready to raise an army of werewolves who would show him loyalty and love and he will stop at nothing to have it. The first step to being their alpha is to break the curse of the moon.
Mary was puzzled and only staring at Dan when he came to a halt before her.
Dan gazed deep into her eyes and queried. “Are you not going to say anything?”
“I am speechless,” she answered in a low tone. “I will be on my way back to my campus.”
She turned to leave but Dan grabbed her arm, gently. “Please, stay. Spend the night here and…”
“And what?” she blurted. “To get to know your werewolf bloodline, huh?”

New York City.
Jasmine’s high heels echoed against the concrete walls of the warehouse.
“Brother!” she called out to Dean.
Dean swirled. “Sister.” A smile lighting up his face. He motioned for the vampires to be on their way as he made his way to Jasmine. “So happy to see you.” He wrapped her into his arms, closely.
After a warm welcome, Jasmine breaks the hug, gently. Her eyes widened with fear as she spoke. “Is it true? Is Dan out?”
“Yes, it’s true,” he said, feeling sad. “It has been confirmed.”
“Oh, no!” she gags. Her eyes gleamed with fear. “He’s coming for us.”
“No, he won’t,” Dean said, expressing confidence. “We will put him back in the box, again.”
Jasmine’s pretty smiling face is gone. “If the rumor, I heard that he has abducted a gypsy girl is true, then he might turn her against us.”
Dan has been Jasmine’s nightmare. If there’s a sibling she fears, it’s Dan. Everything he does terrifies her.
Dean placed his hand on her. “Take a deep breath, sister,” he said. “You are beginning to panic. We will put him back in the box.”
Dean continued to speak with confidence. He never for once doubted himself. He’s fully aware the full moon comes in two days and his brother would try something stupid. Nevertheless, his mind is set right, and deep down, he would go down, stopping the breaking of the curse of the moon.
