Chapter 86 - Tales of the Hybrid
Dan paced around the room, with both hands behind his back as he opened his mouth to tell his tales.
“During the dark magic era in Ancient Rome, my father, Emperor Dracula sought the guidance of her sorceress in the quest to retain his kingdom from advancing troops from Egypt. He reigned over Rome for only five years after my grandfather’s demise. The Egyptian king, Zul advanced his troops across the sea to besiege Rome. When my father heard of the vast army of King Zul and how ruthless they were and how brutal they fought in the battle, he couldn’t help but seek a solution to end the war before it began.”
He paused and stopped pacing as he narrowed his eyes on Mary to know if she was still listening. Her eyes were fixed constantly on him. Seeing she was still paying attention, she continued with his tales. “The sorceress told my father, that only his children could help him win this war. With magic, she turned us into blood-sucking monsters to win this war. The magic she used in the darkest of dark magic. So here we are, 1020 years later, still walking this Earth like gods.”
“And the three of you turned the rest of the vampires?” Mary looked surprised but still desperate for answers.
“Yes,” he answered. His cheeks flushed with a broad smile. “We can’t be alone. Besides, a king needs an army that will fight side by side with him.”

University of Chicago.
Scott and Evelyn have concluded their findings. Mary is missing. Although she has not been gone for more than 24 hours since her friends Lucy, Simon, and Jack got separated from her, therefore, the police can’t help at this stage.
“I need to do a locator spell to find her,” Evelyn suggested.
“Of course, but…”
“But what?” Evelyn stared with a wide-eyed gaze, wondering.
“The same spot for their camping sounds familiar to me,” he said. He looked nervous and he continued. “There’s a tomb there and that’s where Jasmine and Dean buried Dan.”
“What?” Evelyn gagged. She drew back on her heels as her heart began beating fast. “Is he out?”
“That’s what we are about to find out,” he said. He gestured, moving toward his car. “Let’s go check it out.”

Brooklyn, New York, One hour later...
Dean’s phone continued to buzz repeatedly. He peeked at his phone like he did the last four times. It’s the same caller, Scott. He has been dodging his calls. He hissed as he applied the brake, pulling over in front of a bookstore.
His face turned mean and serious as he picked up the call. “What?” he yelled.
“You better watch your tone, old pal!” Scott gnawed on the other end of the call.
“Or what?” Dean yelled. “I have told you not to dial my number!”
“If anything happens to my daughter, I am coming for you and your siblings!” Scott blurted out on the other end of the call. He’s growing stronger and angrier.
“And what does the safety of your daughter have to do with me?” Dean gnawed. He bit his bottom lip and was about to open his mouth to speak further but Scott pushed back his back his words.
“In case you don’t know, Dan is out!” said Scott. “Bottom line!”
Dean’s eyes widened. “What?” A shocking expression crossed his face. “How’s that even possible?”
“I don’t want to know how possible or impossible it is. If anything happens to my daughter, I am coming for the Dracula’s descendant .”
Scott hung up.
Dean slowly removed his cell phone from his ear. For a while, he became puzzled and wondered what could have possibly gone wrong.

The underground tomb.
“What did he say?” Evelyn asked, feeling curious.
She’s standing over the casket Dan got out of. When she tried a locator spell, all she could see was a premonition of how Dan got out of the casket and took her daughter, Evelyn.
“I am sure he knew he was out,” Scott said. “He never said anything to prove he has a hand in this.”
“I know what I saw,” a sob escaped Evelyn’s lips. “Dan took our daughter and who knows what…”
“It’s going to be all right,” Scott said, interrupting her. He threw his arms around her and cuddled her. “We are going to find our daughter.”
“What if she’s dead?” Another sob left her lips.
“Don’t say that,” Scott said. “She’s very much alive and we will find her.”
There’s no certainty in his face. Not even in his voice. He too looks scared like hell but he needs to brace himself like a man to console his wife.
“You know the full moon will be coming up two days from now. What if he wants her to break the curse of the moon? You know what that means for the vampires?” She tried breathing softly before continuing with her sad low voice. “We shouldn’t have kept the secret from her.”
“You don’t need to worry,” Scott assured. “We will find her. Mia and Dave agreed to help. We will find her.”
Evelyn pulled away from Scott and focused her gaze on him. “Unharmed?”
“Yes, love. Unharmed.”

Dan's mansion.
“Hey!” Mary said as she approached Dan, discussing with Samuel. When she looked on, her gaze was drawn to two dozens of men standing by the fountain. She had never met them before. Dan turned and flashed a smile at her. “Who are there?” she gestured toward the fountain.
“There are werewolf bloodlines,” he answered with hesitation in his voice.
She noticed the hesitation in his voice but ignored it to issue another query. “What are they doing here?” She narrowed her eyes toward the fountain. They were all looking at her with warmth on their faces.
“They just came to pay respect to me when they heard I’m free from my sibling’s daemon dagger.”
Mary isn’t comfortable with this. She sensed conspiracy around. Just before she could open her mouth to speak, the loud rustling sound of the gate interrupted her. Her gaze was again drawn toward the gate.
She watched as six black limousines drove in. Her mind raced with thoughts. It was as if Dan was cooking something big but left her in the dark.
