Chapter 66

Chapter 66

From Elvira's perspective:

When I got back to my room, I suddenly felt drained and leaned against the door.

My back pressed against the door panel, but all I could think about was everything between Virio and me.

Today, he saved me from Joseph's clutches.

But when he looked at me, his eyes were different from before. He had no love for me, only pity.

I knew today's incident wasn't anything special - even a man who didn't know me at all would probably help if he saw someone being violent toward me.

But it just happened to be Virio.

Had he really not remembered anything?

Thinking about it, I suddenly covered my face and slowly slid down to sit on the floor with my back against the door.

I hugged my knees and cried my heart out.

It had been several days, and Virio still showed no signs of recovering his memory. Everyone said he seemed no different from before - he remembered how to handle the Soren family's affairs, remembered what businesses he owned, and even remembered he was supposed to help me deal with Killian.

But he just didn't remember the feelings between us.

It was as if all our joy and affection had vanished with this coma!

I hugged myself in pain, and eventually, I didn't know how I fell asleep.

When I woke up, I heard that Virio had gone to interrogate Joseph early in the morning.

Virio hadn't made a big deal about last night's incident, but he used swift measures to lock Joseph up too.

Now neither Massimo nor Joseph could do whatever they wanted in the Soren family.

Thinking about how Joseph had approached me, I couldn't help but clutch my collar.

I had indeed let my guard down last night.

I thought that in this house, Joseph at least wouldn't have the guts to do anything to me, but I never expected he would dare to do this right under Virio's nose!

Thinking about this made me tremble all over, and a deep anger burned inside me.

Why did these people all think they could control me? Just because I was a woman?

Thinking back carefully, Virio had never treated me differently just because I was a woman.

He was at the top of the pyramid and had seen too much blood and killing. He would only help me broaden my horizons, rather than contemptuously thinking I shouldn't be exposed to these things.

Without realizing it, I was thinking about Virio again.

Virio's interrogation of Joseph lasted all day.

I guessed this was probably related to the evidence I had submitted to him last night.

That evidence proved that Joseph's contact with the Camorra went way back, and perhaps Massimo couldn't escape involvement in this matter either.

But I didn't know what they had said.

However, that evening, Virio came to find me.

When he knocked on my door, I thought there was some problem with the evidence I'd given him, or that we needed to discuss something else. But as soon as I opened the door, he stepped forward.

In his eyes, I saw so many emotions.

His large hands cupped my face, pulling me into his arms, and then he kissed me.

This kiss was unprecedentedly intense, heavier than any we'd shared before.

For a moment, I felt like he was going to devour me.

"Virio..." I didn't understand what was happening.

I looked up to ask him, but his burning lips and tongue captured my every breath, leaving me almost unable to speak.

Virio's body temperature scorched me, making me boil along with him. His hand pressed tightly against my back, pulling me even closer into his embrace.

My softness rubbed against him, and both our temperatures kept rising.

Virio's large hands caressed me repeatedly.

Feeling his comfort, desire slowly rose in my heart, and I hugged him tightly.

I didn't know what had happened today, or what it meant that he was doing this to me now, but I didn't want to miss any chance to be close to him.

Because I had waited too long for this day, and these past days, my heart had been filled with nothing but anxiety.

When the kiss ended, I leaned against his chest, breathing heavily.

Virio patted my back, carried me to sit on the sofa, and then told me about what happened today.

It turned out that during today's interrogation of Joseph, he suddenly remembered when I went to Floridia.

"I was extremely angry at that time. I never thought he would treat me like that, and because of that, I remembered many, many things about you, remembered what we did before. I feel like my memory suddenly recovered by more than half."

I carefully held his hand. "You mean you finally remembered the relationship between you and me?"

"Yes, besides being partners, it turns out we went through so much together."

Hearing this, I felt relieved and almost cried.

But Virio cupped my face. "Don't cry, now's not the time for tears."

"You finally remembered all this - how could I not cry?"

Then Virio told me that he didn't feel his memory had fully recovered, but rather like fragments were slowly piecing themselves together.

"But I know that my time with you is the key piece of the puzzle in this missing part of my memory. If I can remember this relationship, maybe I can remember more."

I nodded and leaned against Virio, saying softly, "I never expected you to fully recover your memory. This is already good enough for me."

That night, he held me and did nothing else.

He just held me quietly until we both grew drowsy.

The next morning, I received another piece of news.

Sebastian told me that last night, there had been an explosion at my house.

Right in my room.

This news made my sleepiness vanish instantly.

Virio and I got up together to find out about this, and learned that there had indeed been an explosion in my room yesterday.

It was speculated that after Killian discovered the original document was completely lost, he had installed a bomb in my room.

"But I don't understand - I don't go home anymore, so why would he install a bomb in my room?"

The only reasonable explanation was that Killian had completely lost his mind.

After Sebastian told me about this, I relayed it to Virio, who had his people help me investigate.

I waited at home for news about this matter.

Not long after, I learned that in Killian's eyes, I was already a dead person.

"That bomb did explode in your room, but at the same time, Freya had also snuck into your room looking for that will. She was affected by the bomb and is now seriously injured and unconscious, with burns all over her body, in the hospital emergency room."

Hearing this, I covered my mouth. "Is Freya dead?"

I hadn't had time to get my revenge on her yet - if she died like this, it would be too anticlimactic.

Virio shook his head. "No, but she's not out of danger yet. Killian probably thought you and Freya were both there at the time."
