Chapter 91 91

Chapter 91 91
JASPAR
A gather of musk had settled over the garage, thick and unrelenting from days without ventilation. The windows shut tight just the way they should be.
Clanks and bangs filled the space above from the weldering taking place in the blacksmith’s back shop upstairs, but that wasn’t loud enough to distract my thoughts from the one that mattered the most.
Her smile was wide, bright and if I didn’t know any better, I would say genuine. But I did. I wasn’t there, I wasn’t by her side, there was no way she could be happy, not without me. She liked to lie to herself that she was every now and then, but I knew more about her than she did about herself.
She might have the biggest, brightest smile on, but she could never be happy without me, our souls were one and would always be one no matter where she went or how far she decided to go, we would always find each other and even when she didn’t ask, I would always find her. She was mine and will always be mine.
Like a bubbling cauldron, anger bubbles in my veins. Picture after picture, he had his filthy hands on her waist and she let him.
Mine! The word was loud and echoed in my head.
I hated him. I hated all he stood for. Some rich spoilt brat who used his money to trap my little birdie. He didn’t deserve her. I didn’t deserve her either, but damn it, she was mine and mine alone.
The wood boards screamed in creaks as heavy footsteps thudded against weak wood.
Swipe. Swipe. Swipe. My finger hovered over the fourth picture on the slide. It was almost laughable how easy it was to get pictures of ‘celebrities’ these days. I didn’t even have to go through a lot of backroads, just searched up her name and there she was, right beside the devil himself, smiling like she had no idea just how despicable he was.
She was beautiful, as always. Her hair was held back in a perfect ponytail, it let her perfect oval face take the spotlight and shine it did. Her red tinted lips puckered in a polite smile as she wrapped an arm around his waist. That should be my waist.
I swung back another large chug of tasteless beer. It’s so funny how life could change so drastically. One moment you are cruising with the one percent of the one percent and the next moment, you are struggling to get food daily, being the scum on people’s shoes, everyone avoided you like you carried some communicable disease every time you moved even a foot close.
One moment your biggest problem was making a choice between white wine and red wine, rum, whiskey or vodka and the next, you’re chugging down bottle after bottle containing more water than ethanol disguised as alcohol.
I gripped the bottle tighter, wishing to every deity known to man that it was the bastard’s neck.
He took everything from me! And for what?! To settle a score? For some stupid power play?! He would never smell peace if I had anything to do with it. Never!
I leaned deeper into the crappy sofa, the tattered furniture a lucky find I could get off of the blacksmith. He had also been stupid enough to let me take up camp in his basement. Too bad. He would have to explain why there was a body in his basement by the time I get my chance. It wouldn’t be too long now.
The clock was already ticking and with how often they were appearing on the media, it was just a matter of time before my anonymous tip to a certain model got the attention it deserved.
My phone buzzed, the sweetest laughter, my ringtone. I savored the moment with my eyes shut. I would hear that laughter again. Soon. Soon she’d be mine again and he would be nothing but compost in no time.
“Why, hello.” I had been waiting for her call for two weeks, not because I particularly cared what the she devil was up to these days, but she was the key to my access into that house. I would just have to play nice in the meantime. It was always better not to spook a pampered peacock afterall.
“JASPAR.” She acknowledged in a clipped voice, like I was the one bugging her.
“I could hang up. I’m rather busy.” I fired right back, a smile playing on my lips because I finally had her exactly where I wanted her, desperate enough to actually call.
“What do you want?” She hissed in a hushed voice, like she was hunched over the phone whispering. Guess she wasn’t as comfortable as she had assumed she would be then. She better be of some use.
I let the question hang in the air for a long minute, for suspense? Thinking? I couldn’t really say, but I did… just because.
“A truce.” I finally broke the silence. “You hate her, I hate him. How about we both get what we want most?”
“And what makes you think I don’t already have what I want most?” She scoffed. Sometimes I actually believe that she forgets just how much I knew of and about her.
“If you did, you wouldn’t be whispering like you’re a prisoner with a burner phone she’s not supposed to own. Wait, is this one?” I leaned my elbows on my thighs. It better fucking be. I wouldn’t have her stupidity ruin yet another one of my plans.
“Again, Jaspar. What do you want?” She grounded out like she imagined my jugular between her teeth.
“I already told you,” I played with the mouth of the bottle, “A truce.” I sighed. It was so difficult dealing with dumb bitches, but for my queen’s sake, I would tolerate the little troublemaker.
“And why would I believe you want that? You’re obsessed with that girl. I would never get it, but it also means you don’t have the balls to beg her out of the picture.” She was speaking indirectly, so no burner phone then. So dang stupid, we’d have to fix that first.
“True. That’s why I won’t be the one creating space for another woman, you would be. I’d handle the Nepo baby.” I swung the bottle from side to side like a pendulum, supported by my grip on its mouth.
“I don’t believe you.”
“Well, you just have to. You might be helpful, but I’m the one with an actual plan, I have history with both of them too.”
“Well, you seem all set then, why do you need me.”
“Because we both want the same thing, revenge.” I let that sink in because whether she would admit it to herself or not, she’d didn’t ever really care about the man, just his money and how much of
it she could get before the truth came tumbling at her face.
