I went back home and found a note on the living room centre table that Herman had taken his so-called cousin back to her apartment and he will be back later in the evening.
I just folded the note in my fist then walked towards the trashcan and dumped it there.
I called my mom and informed her that I won't be picking my girl and Alma like I had planned so she should help me in preparing the girl tomorrow for school and once I'm done with everything here,I will come for them at once.
I'm always at peace when she's with my girl because I know she loves her as much as I love her and I don't have to worry about anything.
I moved inside my room and went straight to the bathroom and filled the bathtub with ice cold water to calm my nerves.
I laid in there for some good time and once I felt refreshed,I moved back to the room and looked for some pair of shorts and a t-shirt from my wardrobe then moved out on the balcony with a book hoping to divert my mind in that way but it all failed.
I just came and laid down on my bed while curling up my legs up to my chest with tears in my eyes and my mind deep in thoughts.
I cried myself to sleep and I don't know for how long I have been sleeping but I suddenly woke up when it was already dark.
I stood up from bed and closed the balcony door which I had left open.
“Hey babe,I won't be coming back tonight due to over load at work but I will be there tomorrow morning don't miss me too much,I love you,”
Herman's message popped up on my phone and after reading it,I threw the phone away because my heart was aching.
I can't believe he is always lying to me and he feels like it is very okay to play around with me.
I rubbed off my tears and looked for my phone from where I had thrown it and quickly dialed my lawyer's number right away.
“Yes Ava,is everything okay?” he asked.
“Not at all but I was of the view that,can you arrange the divorce papers as early as tomorrow morning?” I asked while sobbing.
“Uhm,I can't promise you but let me see what I can do ma'am,” he replied.
“Thank you so much…please get back to me as soon as possible before you sleep,” I requested.
“Okay then,but will your husband be home tomorrow morning?” he asked.
“Yes,that's why I wanted you to show up here tomorrow morning and surprise him with the divorce papers because I have had enough and I can't take his lies anymore,” I replied.
“Oh okay I understand you ma'am,let me make some calls and see that I get everything in order by morning,” he replied.
He hung up then tears started touching my cheeks once again while panting and at this point my whole body was shivering.
I don't know when I slept off but in the middle of the night, I was woken up by my lawyer's call and when I saw the caller I'd, I quickly sat up.
“Tell me some good news please,” I begged him.
“Well,I managed to make it happen and I haven't slept till when I got everything we needed for tomorrow,” he replied.
“Oh my goodness! Thank you so much and I really appreciate your effort,” I thanked him.
“It's okay ma'am, I'm just doing my job anyway…so I will be there before 8am,” he said.
“Okay,perfect,” I finally got a smile on my face.
“Kindly text me your home address ma'am,”
“Right away,”
I sent it there and then before he hung up and after putting down the phone,that's when I realised that my stomach was growling because I last had breakfast in the morning.
I moved to the living room and opened the fridge to see what I could eat…I decided to have some yoghurt and some cookies while watching some series on the screen.
After eating,I decided to go back to bed and catch some sleep before the big day because it requires me to be a hundred percent sober.
I set my alarm at exactly 7am but before it rang,I was woken up by some cold lips on my cheek and I suddenly woke up.
“When did you get back?” I asked with my eyes half open.
“Just now babe,how have you been?” He asked
“I'm okay,how was work?” I asked so that I could hear his lies for the last time.
“Well,it was hectic because I hate the fact that I had to sleep out and miss having some good time with my wife,” he replied.
“But I thought you were the boss! Why do you need to work so hard yet you hired employees to do that for you?” I sat upright.
“Babe come on,yes I'm the boss but I have to make sure everything is in order because employees can't do all the work right especially when I leave them all alone so I have to participate as well,” he replied.
“You mean for the past years you've been working, you don't have anyone in your company you can trust with the work while you're away?” I folded my hands over my chest.
“Babe,unfortunately that's right,” he leaned in and pecked me on the cheek.
“Okay,let me go and freshen up a little bit…babe you can go back to bed if you want,” he stood up from the bed and removed his clothes then moved inside the bathroom.
When I heard water running in the bathroom,I picked up my phone and called my lawyer.
“Where are you at?” I whispered
“We are here already,I was also about to call you,” he replied.
“Perfect,you're just right on time,”
“So,what's the plan?” He asked.
“He's back,so kindly wait for my signal, let him first come out of the bathroom then you guys can now come in,” I whispered.
“Okay then,waiting,”
I hung up then I saw the bathroom door opening and he stepped out while wrapping himself in the bathrobe.
“Babe,what are we having for breakfast?” He asked while drying his hair with a towel.
“Uhm,what do you have in mind?”
“How about pancakes?”
“Mmh okay,let me go and start preparing then,” I stood up and moved to the kitchen.
I sent my lawyer a message that they should come in at this point and I stood by the door waiting for them.
“Hey,thanks for coming…I appreciate it,” I opened for them and then entered.
He had come with some other gentleman then I directed them where to sit while we waited for Herman.
After a few minutes, Herman walked in and he was dumbfounded when he saw me sitting next to these two men.
“Babe,you didn't tell me that we will be having some visitors this morning!”
“Good morning gentlemen,my name is Herman, I'm Ava's husband,” he extended his hand to greet them and they both shook it.
“Babe,ain't you going to introduce me to your friends here?” He looked over at me.
“Uhm,Mr.Herman,I think we haven't met before but I'm Ava's new lawyer and this gentleman here is my secretary so kindly go through this document,” he handedly him an envelope.
Herman took up his seat next to mine and opened the envelope which my lawyer handed him.
The rest of us paid close attention to him and patiently waited for a sudden change in his facial expression.
It didn't take a long time when he frowned after reading through the papers and looked over at me.
