Chapter 272 Remarriage?

Chapter 272 Remarriage?

Daisy worried Luna might choke from crying so hard, so she had Grandma bring over some tissues. She wiped Luna's nose and tears, dabbing at her own eyes too, then pulled her daughter into her lap on the sofa, gently patting and soothing her.

Once Luna had calmed down a bit, Daisy looked into her eyes, pressing their foreheads together with a tender smile. "Luna, what Grandma and Nick said is true. Daddy and Vanessa did a lot of things that hurt Mommy, so we got divorced a long time ago."

Despite Grandma's frantic eye signals, she still revealed the actual divorce timeline. Before Luna could start crying again, she feigned surprise. "Oh! But Mommy just thought of something amazing. I wonder if my clever Luna has noticed it too?"

Luna was, after all, just a child. Drawn in by her mother's tone, she asked, "What is it?"

Daisy bounced her gently in her arms. "Well, it's that after Mommy and Daddy got divorced, Luna's life didn't really change much at all!"

She guided her reasoning carefully. "Even though we moved out of Daddy's big house, Luna can still go back anytime she wants. And Mommy's working hard to buy an even bigger house for you!"

Luna sniffled.

She realized Mommy seemed to be right.

Daisy continued, "And after the divorce, haven't Mommy and Daddy actually been spending more time together than before? We even drop you off and pick you up from school together now."

"Yeah! Vanessa used to do all that before," Luna said.

Daisy asked, "So do you like Vanessa better, or Mommy better?"

Luna said, "I used to like Vanessa more. Now I like Mommy better."

She threw herself into Daisy's arms as she said it.

Slowly, she came to a conclusion. "So Mommy and Daddy getting divorced, it seems like..."

"It seems like it hasn't really affected Luna at all, and everyone's relationships are actually more harmonious than before, right?" Daisy gently guided. "That's the amazing thing Mommy was talking about."

Luna froze.

Because she realized things really were exactly as Daisy described.

That evening, Luna used her phone watch to message Vincent, but he seemed busy and didn't reply.

This was rare, and it worried Luna a bit.

However, Daisy promised that after school tomorrow, she'd take her to see Vincent.

When Luna asked why Vincent wasn't replying to her messages, Daisy said, "Who knows? You know Daddy's been overworked and not feeling well lately. Maybe he went to bed early."

This explanation successfully comforted Luna.

It also brought Daisy some comfort herself.

She realized she might be turning into a bad person—just saying Vincent wasn't feeling well brought her a strange sense of satisfaction.

But then again, when facing someone who'd hurt you before, even the kindest person would inevitably have this kind of reaction.

Maybe thinking this way didn't mean she was becoming bad. Maybe it just meant she'd stopped loving him.

The next day when mother and daughter headed out, they found Vincent's car parked right outside.

Daisy paused, unsure when Vincent had arrived.

Luna was thrilled and climbed into Vincent's car.

Daisy got in too.

The two of them explained the divorce to Luna together.

After dropping Luna off at preschool, they both got back in the car.

But the engine didn't start.

Daisy looked at Vincent, guessing he had something to say to her.

Sure enough, Vincent said, "You shouldn't have been so reckless, telling Luna about the divorce."

Daisy said, "We'd have to tell her sooner or later."

Besides, Luna had asked.

Vincent heard the dismissiveness in her tone. He paused, then asked, "What style of ring do you like?"

Daisy glanced at him. If she hadn't noticed Vincent looking directly at her, she would've thought he was sending a voice message to Vanessa.

Vincent gazed at her. "I wasn't criticizing you just now. I just think if we remarry, Luna won't need to process her parents' divorce at all."

"Remarry?" Daisy stared at him in shock. "You want to remarry me because of Luna?"

Vincent didn't speak, but she could tell he was serious.

Daisy's expression turned ice-cold. "Impossible."

Vincent asked, "Why?"

Daisy said firmly, "I refuse to enter a second marriage for absurd reasons."

She felt like she'd never truly known Vincent, which made her somewhat angry. "Vincent, what exactly do you think marriage is? Don't you love Vanessa? How could you—"

The car remained parked as Vincent told her many things, including why he wasn't marrying Vanessa and why he wanted to remarry her.

When he produced evidence of Vanessa's previous schemes and crimes, Daisy took the stack of papers with trembling hands. "Do you have digital copies of these? Send them to me too."

Vincent had anticipated her reaction. He'd printed these materials specifically to increase their impact.

He gripped Daisy's hand. "I've seen Vanessa's true colors now. And actually, when we were getting divorced, I dragged things out because I didn't want the divorce."

"It's just that the evidence wasn't fully gathered yet, and you were determined to leave, so..."

Seeing Daisy shaking badly, he reached out to embrace her, but she dodged away.

Daisy opened her phone to check the evidence files she'd received, then looked at Vincent and raised her hand to slap him.

Vincent's brow furrowed as he grabbed her wrist, demanding, "What's wrong with you?"

Daisy's reaction was completely outside his expectations.

Daisy challenged him, "Did you think I'd be moved after seeing all this? That I'd fall back in love with you and throw myself into your arms?"

Vincent frowned. "Why not? Have you really fallen for Felix?"

He rejected the notion outright. "Impossible. Felix can't be better than me."

Daisy looked at his confident expression but only felt a chill throughout her body. She laughed coldly. "So you still haven't accepted one fact?"

Vincent looked at her, puzzled.

She said, enunciating each word, "I don't love you anymore, Vincent. From the moment I asked for a divorce, we became impossible!"

"You giving me this evidence today only proves once again how right my decision was. Look—whenever you wanted to investigate, you could easily uncover all her crimes. But before this, you didn't care at all!"

"I'm going to use this evidence to sue Vanessa. I hope you still have some shred of conscience left and won't interfere with her trial."

With that, she yanked her hand free from Vincent's grip and got out of the car.

She wasn't going to look back!

Traffic was congested. Vincent only lost focus for a moment, but she'd already reached the other side.

The traffic jam meant Daisy couldn't quickly hail a ride, but it also meant Vincent couldn't chase her down in his car like in those cheesy dramas.

And his pride wouldn't allow him to get out and chase after her on foot, so he could only watch helplessly as she walked away.
