Chapter 199 The Whole World Isn't Just Him
Hannah also sensed something was wrong and suddenly stood up from the sofa. "You?"
She had just started to speak when she saw Alaric holding Cordelia and gave an awkward smile.
“Mr. Hughes, you’re here. I was just about to call you to come pick up Cordelia.” Harry saw Alaric and quickly walked over. “Mr. Hughes.”
As he spoke, he glanced at Cordelia in Alaric’s arms—already showing signs of being drunk—and quickly said.
"Cordelia only had two bottles of beer. Hannah was watching her the whole time and didn't let her drink more."
“She can’t hold her liquor.” Alaric’s face was stern as he looked down at Cordelia, still struggling in his arms. Harry gave an awkward smile and said sheepishly.
“Cordelia doesn’t seem to feel well. Mr. Hughes, why don’t you take her home first?” Alaric nodded and carried Cordelia toward the bar exit. Seeing this, Herschel consciously stepped aside.
When Alaric had just entered the bar, Julian spotted him from upstairs. Julian came downstairs and ran into Alaric right at the entrance.
“Leaving already? Not staying to have some fun?” As he spoke, he glanced at Cordelia in Alaric’s arms.
“No,” Alaric replied coldly and walked away.
Julian stood there, watching Alaric’s retreating figure, a hint of disappointment on his face. Cordelia, who had been struggling the whole way, was stuffed into the car by Alaric.
During the struggle, one of Cordelia’s shirt buttons popped open, revealing a fleeting glimpse of skin.
Alaric looked down at her, his Adam's apple bobbing slightly. Resisting the visual impact, he reached out to button up her shirt.
After Cordelia sat in the back seat, the alcohol completely overwhelmed all her willpower.
Alaric’s presence gave her an inexplicable sense of security. Realizing he was about to leave, she immediately grabbed his arm.
“Don’t go, stay with me.” Her voice was soft. Hearing it, Alaric’s body stiffened slightly.
He looked at her flushed cheeks with a stern expression, took a breath, and sat down in the back seat.
Cordelia hugged his arm tightly, not letting him leave or drive. Alaric sat there stiffly for a long time.
After Robert saw Janet being taken to the hospital by ambulance, he called Alaric. Alaric told him to come and drive.
Robert arrived at the bar and got into the driver’s seat. He carefully glanced in the rearview mirror and saw that Cordelia had fallen asleep on Alaric’s shoulder.
Alaric stared at the sleeping Cordelia, lost in thought. To avoid disturbing her, Robert asked quietly, “Mr. Hughes, back to Crown Hill Estates?” Alaric made a sound of agreement.
Cordelia, resting on Alaric’s shoulder, found it too hard and uncomfortable. She shifted and lay down directly on his lap.
She twisted her body, adjusting to a comfortable position, facing Alaric. His hand that was supporting her paused. He looked down at Cordelia, breathing evenly, his expression slightly stiff.
Her warm breath landed near his zipper. His eyes darkened, and he felt an inexplicable restlessness.
He took a breath, unbuttoned the top two buttons of his shirt with one hand, and loosened his tie to ease his agitation, trying hard to suppress his body’s reaction.
Crown Hill Estates. After Robert parked the car in the garage, he got out and opened the door for Alaric. Alaric got out, carrying Cordelia.
Robert immediately looked away, trying not to look at Cordelia, who was nestled in Alaric's arms looking so delicate.
After Alaric got out, he closed the car door and stood there, watching Alaric enter the elevator, saying respectfully. "Good night, Mr. Hughes. Have a pleasant evening."
Alaric didn’t respond. He carried Cordelia all the way into the bedroom, placed her on his master bed, and tucked her in. “I’m sorry, Herschel.”
Cordelia turned over in bed and murmured. Hearing this, Alaric’s eyes darkened sharply. He stood by the bed, looking down at her, a sharp pain stabbing his chest.
“What did you say?” His voice was low and hoarse as he asked unwillingly. If she dared to mention another man’s name, he would strangle her. Cordelia spoke softly again.
"Herschel, how can I make it up to you?" Alaric's narrow eyes narrowed. He leaned down, grabbed Cordelia's face, and forced her to look at him.
“Cordelia, in my bed, you’re still thinking about another man?”
“Should I send you over to Herschel?”
Cordelia was now completely overtaken by drunkenness. She just felt a pain in her jaw and reluctantly opened her eyes.
As soon as she opened them, she saw Alaric's deep, bloodthirsty gaze. She paused, raised her hand, and touched Alaric's perfect, flawless face. "Why are you here?"
She asked in confusion, having completely forgotten that Alaric had just brought her back from the bar to Crown Hill Estates. Shouldn’t he be with Janet?
She must be drunk and hallucinating. During those three years in Astoria, Alaric would often appear in her dreams.
Her eyes were gentle and hazy as she reached out to caress his cheek.
He had always hoped for Cordelia to treat him like this, but at this moment, he felt no pleasure at all. Cordelia probably thought he was Herschel.
His eyes turned cold, and the hand gripping her jaw tightened involuntarily. “Do you see clearly who I am?” Cordelia nodded.
Alaric asked, “Then who am I?” Cordelia felt that Alaric in tonight’s dream seemed unusually talkative. He had never been this chatty before, usually getting straight to the point.
Perhaps because she had been drinking, her body was also getting excited, so some of Cordelia's inner thoughts were stirred up.
She reached out and wrapped her arms around Alaric’s neck, leaning in to press her lips against his.
Alaric turned his face away, pressed down hard with his hand, and pushed her head back onto the bed. "Who am I?" He asked again.
Cordelia didn’t get to kiss him, and the feeling of disappointment in her heart gradually grew. She grew stubborn, turned her head, and huffed twice.
“Fine, if you won’t do it, then get out of my dream.” As if that weren’t enough, she kicked at him a few times.
But her body was soft and weak now, so these kicks were like tickles to Alaric. Alaric easily grabbed her ankle and leaned over her. "Cordelia, who am I?"
Though his body had already reacted to her teasing, he still stubbornly asked Cordelia this question, over and over, tirelessly.
Though his body had already reacted to her teasing, he still stubbornly asked Cordelia the question again and again, tirelessly.
Cordelia was getting annoyed now. She huffed lightly and said sullenly, "Fine, don't then." "I can find other men too. You're not the only man in the world."
Alaric was stung by her words. His eyes froze, completely at a loss with her.
