Chapter 107 Are You Trying to Fool a Ghost?

Chapter 107 Are You Trying to Fool a Ghost?

Originally, the couple had planned to come here every day to cause trouble, hoping to pressure Anthony into keeping his promise.

But that approach clearly wasn't going to work.

Michael and his wife, scared out of their wits, fled in a panic...

"Fuck——"

Watching them run away, Rambo cursed under his breath.

Then he turned and looked at Anthony.

"Boss, people like that are a waste of oxygen. Just wipe them out..."

Anthony shook his head and was about to say something.

Just then, his phone rang.

He looked at the screen — it was Poppy calling.

He picked up right away.

Poppy was a classmate who had a secret crush on him. She had always cared deeply for him, and had even sold her blood to help him out. Anthony felt deeply grateful to her for that.

But the moment he answered, Poppy's voice came through, urgent and desperate.

"Anthony, please help me. We're in trouble — someone's accused us of stealing, and they're about to hand us over to the authorities."

"What? Accused of stealing? Who has the nerve?"

Anthony stood up, already angry.

"Anthony, my dad and I are at a property sales office looking at apartments. They're saying our money is suspicious and threatening to report us."

"What? That's insane. Where are you? I'm coming right now."

Anthony was furious. That money was his — he had given it to Poppy.

Before he left Poppy's place that day, he had told her more than once to take her father and go look at some apartments when they had time.

Honestly, seeing Poppy — a girl who had given so much of herself for him — living in such a run-down place had shaken him deeply.

So that night before he left, he had urged her several times to go check out some properties soon.

He never imagined that something as simple as looking at apartments could cause this kind of trouble.

"Nobody messes with Poppy. Nobody."

Seeing the boss fly into a rage, Rambo quickly grabbed his phone and started giving orders.

"Send ten top guys to back up the boss."

Anthony stopped him immediately.

"Cancel that order. I'll handle this myself."

"What? You're handling it personally, boss?"

Rambo looked confused. "But this kind of dirty business — why should you get your hands dirty?"

Anthony shook his head, his expression cold.

"Sometimes, you have to do it yourself. That's the only way it feels satisfying."

Understanding what he meant, Rambo nodded right away.

"Got it, boss. I'll cancel the order now."

As Rambo pulled back the command, he watched the boss walk out with fury on his face — and couldn't help feeling a silent moment of pity for whoever was on the other end.

Picking a fight with their boss? Oh, this was going to be good...

Takila Property Sales Office.

In a wide, open showroom, a flashily dressed woman was getting in Poppy's face.

"What's wrong? We question where all that money came from, and you're offended? Did you call your sugar daddy to come rescue you? Is that who's coming — the guy who's keeping you?"

The woman speaking, Rihanna, had pure venom in her eyes.

"Rihanna, we went to school together. Why are you doing this? Why are you being so cruel and arrogant?"

"Excuse me?! Did you just call me arrogant?!"

Rihanna's face twisted with rage, and she slapped Poppy hard across the face. "Am I wrong? Tell me — is that money not from the man who's keeping you?"

"That's — that's completely ridiculous—"

Poppy's lips trembled after the slap.

The money was from Anthony, yes. But Anthony wasn't keeping her — he gave it to her because he cared about her. The accusation stung, and she refused to accept it.

"Rihanna, stop making things up. I just called Anthony. The money is from him."

Smack — another hard slap landed across Poppy's face.

"Poppy, you've got a lot of nerve talking back to me."

But after that second slap, Rihanna froze. Her eyes went wide, like she'd just heard something completely unbelievable.

"Wait — you said the money is from who?"

She stared at Poppy, stunned.

"From... Anthony." Poppy felt a knot in her stomach. She thought — is this going to cause trouble for him?

If it did, that would be awful.

But when Rihanna heard that, she burst out laughing like it was the funniest thing she'd ever heard.

"You said Anthony gave you the money? Anthony? You mean that guy who just got out of prison?"

"Everyone knows he just did three years. And you're telling me the second he got out, he handed you twenty million?"

"Poppy, if you're going to lie, at least make it believable."

"Honestly, I'd sooner believe a homeless man gave you twenty million than Anthony."

"You're telling me a guy who just got out of jail is a millionaire? Sure, if that were true, everyone would be lining up to go to prison. Give me a break — who do you think you're fooling?"

Beside them, Orion couldn't hold back his anger.

"What's wrong with you? My daughter is telling the truth. Our money is clean. What gives you the right to question us?"

Smack — Rihanna turned and slapped him hard across the face.

"What gives me the right, old man? I'm a senior sales associate here. That's what gives me the right."

"Haven't you heard? The new anti-money-laundering laws just went into effect. I have every right to verify where a client's funds come from."

"You've got twenty million on you — and just look at you two. Where would people like you get that kind of money? I seriously suspect it's dirty."

Rihanna's expression was pure arrogance, her eyes bloodshot.

She still couldn't believe it when she first saw Poppy walk into the sales office. She thought she was seeing things.

Rihanna was good friends with Theresa, and she had been at the class reunion too.

What she never expected was that Poppy — the one she looked down on the most — had gotten involved with Anthony.

In the end, the reunion had been ruined. They'd all been kicked out of the hotel. That had been eating at her ever since — a humiliation she couldn't let go of.

She had been planning to show off at that fancy hotel, take some photos, make people jealous. And it had all fallen apart because of Anthony and Poppy.

From that day on, Rihanna had hated them both.

Not that she had done anything about it — mostly just fumed and cursed them in private. She hadn't gone out of her way to get revenge.

But today, the perfect opportunity had landed right in her lap.

Poppy had walked into her sales office to look at apartments — and she seemed serious about buying.

Rihanna had walked over with a smile, started asking questions, playing the friendly salesperson.
